  4. Even when I went on it in 2023, the fake shop wasn’t in operation. I’ve been on it three times now and no fake shop, it’s a shame since it was actually one of the best parts of the original.

  6. I went on the behind the scenes tour a couple years back and allegedly Thorpe never wanted the fake shop in the retheme because the illusion was already done in the previous iteration, but the guys in charge of the refurb wanted to keep it - so that's what ended up happening. Kept the ending to appease the creatives for the first year (or two I can't remember how long it lasted for) before being removed once it was out of the limelight as the park's newest attraction. I've seen videos of them testing it in the morning, mind you... so never say never. Personally I'd like them to add a new ending to the attraction - because as much as the 'say it, see it, sorted' ending is brilliant - I feel as though it does need one final scare. I thought one final jumpscare after a bit of comedic relief was brilliant because the guests guards were totally let down at that point, but I would be very very surprised if we saw any additions or changes to this attraction before it goes forever. I was pretty certain we wouldn't see Ghost Train come back again this year (tbf I say that every year... unfortunately I do think its on borrowed time at this point), but with Rumba closing and no replacement attraction in the pipeline for the foreseeable future by the looks of things, I think it's pretty safe for now. Once the Rumba replacement is open though, I definitely do think Ghost Train will be the plot of land Thorpe will be eyeing up next. Thorpe - just don't build a coaster there please. I know it's daunting, but give a dark ride another crack when the time comes - I beg. Learn from your mistakes and go for something more traditional this time.
  7. the fake shop is never coming back at this point isn't it...

Stealth is part of an outdated and high maintenance ride type. History doesn't bode well for Hydraulic Accelerators. It'll be the first to go because it's most likely to be deemed unaffordable to maintain. The last brand new one was built 16 years ago after all.

Am I? Out of Thorpe's coaster line up, Stealth is the most likely to leave first. I have no doubt that Thorpe will keep Stealth running for as long as they possibly can however the consistent posting about its reliability on here suggests a few others do have the same thoughts that I do. We aren't constantly hearing about Swarm or infernos being closed again for example

I'n so sorry that it ended like this. parp parp parp parp ! !!
  13. From sounds of it will likely be better for the guest experience if it does close without a replacement. It's in an awkward location which doesn't help either.
  14. from the minds that brought you nemesis inferno, and Colossus, prepare... for... stealth ... to not work. very often

  16. With phase 2 of festival world planned for 2030, I don't think there'll be any replacement before then. Shame they couldn't keep it going until they're ready to replace it. Glad they're planning on a replacement rather than new trains though.

Yeah, couple more failed launches this morning but once they took that train off it ran fine for the rest of the day.

You'll be pleased to know they sell Haribos and packets of crisps too 🤣 But yeah I agree. Would be a good location for some food, a bar and some comfy seating.

They've done quite a lot in recent years which has collectively improved throughput. - Increased the amount of bag storage - Pretty much always have 4 hosts checking restraints rather than 2 - Pretty much always have someone batching to fill empty seats - Pretty much always on 2 trains - New PLC means all restraints don't have lift all the way up - Queue line announcement with boarding instructions - Boarding instructions/screen before entering the station

  24. Train One in the workshop. After today's visit, I won't give the source, and although I suggested after the winter rebuild that with that investment, Stealth will be with us for a while, I am much happier for the next few years with regards to Stealth.

  26. I’ve definitely noticed a massive improvement in operations in the last few years. Especially on off peak days (or the season it was on during one train for awhile), throughputs were terrible. They dispatch much quicker nowadays and that queue just keeps moving. In general, Thorpe’s operations are something they should be proud of!

  28. It has also been announced that Vampire, the SLC, will close at the end of next year. No replacement has been confirmed, but the park have said they wouldn't close it with nothing in works to replace it.

Ultimately, Thorpe will drag Stealth out until its last dying breath. Just like they did with Slammer. I don't see them TT2-ing it (ie converting to a LSM swing launch). Largely because there's not enough space for that. They possibly could convert it to a powerful enough LSM launch, but that'd be expensive. When the time comes, I do expect they'll just tear it down.

I've heard pretty much nothing. One of the big issues the park will face is if staff haven't worked on it in a certain time frame, they will 'lose' the ability to work on it and need complete re-training. This might be why there was a lot of testing earlier this year, to stop that from happening. It's weird though. It's on the map / app / queue boards. It's got the new RAP signage. It's clearly meant to be a part of the 2026 line up. So why is it just sat there.
  32. Matt N replied to Adam J's topic in General Discussion
The throughput does seem to have improved a bit recently. It’s still not amazing, but I now regularly seem to time it around 700-800pph whereas I have timed it at more like 400-500pph in years gone by (I remember it getting 427pph on 2 trains once… dire!).

So, anyone know anything about Zodiac? Its just under a year of it being closed. All the signs were there for reopening. Continuous testing since the start of the season, new rap signs at the exit, pods all cleaned up and old logos removed, added back to the app. But now, nothing? Haven't seen any sign of movement for a good month or so now.

I've always had a soft spot for Colossus, massively over-hated. Its looking and running better than ever. I love that they seem to permanently have 4 hosts checking restraints now too, used to be very common to see 2 off peak. Noticed the smoke machine has been off the last month or so. Hopefully it'll be back for Fright Nights when it looks its best.

I haven’t had a rough ride on it for a few years now. Those trains still aren’t great, but it hasn’t been overly rough in a while for me. And when it’s smooth, the first half in particular is actually quite good! It still isn’t a favourite of mine at Thorpe, but I think that speaks more to the strength of Thorpe’s selection than Colossus being overly terrible.
  38. planenut replied to Adam J's topic in General Discussion
Due to my favoured ride misbehaving, during a walkabout, I had two virtually walk-on front row rides on this, and they were the smoothest rides I'd ever had on it.
  39. Go and wash your mouth out! Today, yes she was having more tantrums, they took train One off, then again later another hiccup.
