The fact is no one on here knows what work the ride needs - we have no idea of the reasons for its closure, we've no idea how much money it will cost. The park is hardly short of water rides, in a country where at best they are popular for 2/3 months a season. I'd love to see loggers reopen but the fact is the ride is advertised no where on their website, no where on the park map and he official word is they "hoped" it would return in 2017 and now they "hope" it will return in the future.

For theme parks in such a an "appalling state" you stated in another topic you visited Merlin attractions 15 times this year - that's an awful lot of times to visit such "appalling" attractions.

I read that as it's under development throughout the 2017 season.. maybe that's just me.

untilThe Outline of the day will be as follows: Meet under the Waterloo Clock between 09:30 and 10:00 am. If by any chance you happen to miss this meet point due to travel arrangements or just plain lateness you can either a) phone or text so we can arrange to meet you or meet up at the second meeting point later in the day. This first part of the day we will make the most of all the Merlin attractions based in the area by going to London Dungeons, Sealife, London Eye and for those that can get in the New Shrek Adventures. Please bear in mind we will leave without you if you are late as it’s not fair on time keepers! A couple of members have found out this on previous meets. We will stop for a bite to eat around Lunch, which could be Nando's but we will see what people think nearer the time. At lunch we will once again partake inSecret Santa as it was highly popular last year and caused much amusement. After the Waterloo attractions we will head off to Baker Street if we have time to see the wonderful Madame Tussauds or those who wish to break off for a little bit for a pint in the pub before heading back to Hyde Park at the end of the day to go Winter Wonderland. (The date was chosen so we can get actual christmas music ). I'd imagine we will have another eaten snack in the day and will be finishing it off with some drinks down the pub and/ or possibly a curry! . I will be handing out my phone number for everyone who is attending the meet that day, should there be any problems. We aim to stay together as a group for the day, going from one activity to the next, enjoying getting to know people you share very similar interests with, the idea is to just go with the flow and enjoy the day with some awesome people. There will be many photo’s in the day being taken I’m sure and the possibility of a few video clips. Whilst we cannot force you to stay with the group, it is the general purpose of these meets! You will have my number (and some of the senior teams) if you become split so by all means use it. The meets are a fantastic laugh and everyone is invited, even if you’ve never posted before or been to any kind of meet at all. If it's your first meet, I understand it can be nerve breaking - but we were all there at one point so know how it feels, please don't let this stop you from attending. Look at previous trip reports ( from 2013 - I am seriously behind) to give yourself a taster - (or videos people have been posting) Once there you'll be part of the group in no time!

I guess it's the same argument as why should pass holders have to pay to get into thrope during Fright Nights even if not interested in the mazes! It sounds more than just the zoo being open and can only assume it would be difficult to allow pass holders entry to only the zoo and not the rest of the event - having never been to one I've no idea how the events set out!
-
Pretty sure the passes have always stated you don't get guaranteed entry to special events? If you don't like it don't buy a pass - no ones forcing you too
-
Just ordered one.. intriguing idea i guess will tell you how good it is when first box arrives!

I'd personally prefer no chart music at all - the Dome had a perfectly good sound track which suited the area really well! I guess in the evening there could be a case for it for hotel guests but apart from that would personally like the park chart music free!
-
Unfortunately we know very little - its perfectly possible its pumps were removed after it closed to try preserve them. Thorpe is on my way home from work and quite often the loggers lift lights were on up till February time!
-
Its perfectly possible that they started to look into what work was required and decided it wasn't financially viable. If in 2/3 years time the next big ride opens on the old Loggers site then it has closed for redevelopment!
-
John Lewis event I last went to wasn't dead but was by no means busy !
-
Spotted Stealhs Queue line TVs working today - playing nitrogenie / Derren adverts - good to see they are working again be good to see if other rides get similar treatment for next season!
-
By the end of the day all the Restraints had been taken off Slammer - looks like they took the time to start closed season work a couple days earlier with it being shut.
-
Great day at the park last day of season - all rides running well, very quiet too! Also we had a nice treat at the end of the day with the old end of day loop playing followed by a mix of the ride themes across the park! Will upload some videos later

I doubt we need to worry about it going ! There are engineers there at the moment and it's slightly raised so it's being worked on

Out of the probably 100,000+ people visiting the park over the last couple weeks there will of course be people upset - the park is always busy at Fright Nights! On the plus side I thought the park looked great this year - much less of them generator lights, much more theming across the park and tonnes of smoke - bought back a Fright Night atmosphere which has been absent for a while now. Park audio was also much improved - nice to hear some old classics back from 2003/4/5 Fright Nights other than the Saw music. Big Top was much improved this year - Platform starts well but does go down hill after the train - if this returns I look forward to seeing how they develop it.

2 days over the course of the season isn't very much... there are more unreliable rides at the park to be fair!
-
To late now I guess sorry but good luck if you try it!!
-
Park are advising not to turn up tomorrow if you've not pre-booked! Going to be another busy one!
-
I think they work but are a little quiet! Also the green mushroom speakers around Bush BBQ which haven't worked for as long as I remember are now working - speakers on Old Town BK also working Stealths area has also had some attention and is sounding good
-
Went on today - train effect is back on (and had some great reactions in our group)!
-
Can you give me an example of an area Merlin have done anything like this too? Cbeebies is done pretty well and well received - cant think of any others

https://www.thorpepark.com/events/fright-nights/# - theres a calendar here with the dates by prices - can only assume the 29th is very close to selling out causing the much higher pricing.

I think its worth remembering though to build a ride of that scale would of easily been 3/4 times the budget they had for DBGT - didnt Spider man / Transformers cost way over 100m dollars and thats a while ago now! I disagree we've got less than an immersive tunnel will have delivered - if Merlin can iron out the bugs with this I think they will be onto a winner. The point i was trying to make i guess is that in Ghost train they have thought outside the box and given us a fairly unique attraction - whilst the finer details of it need work it gives me hope we can still see new exciting things from Merlin.
