    Jobs..

I'm currently working in France on a second 8 month contract and need to start looking for jobs back in the UK again soon, in case there are no permanent contracts available. However, my contract here finishes at the beginning of January, so naturally, almost "nowhere" will be looking for staff - oh the joys of being a seasonal!!
  2. You'll never guess who's randomly online!! :P

  3. Fantillusion is back soon! Can't wait!! I will second every single person about getting to Crush's Coaster ASAP. The queues are often external , everytime I've seen them! With food being a topic, if you wanted to dine "with" some characters, The Lucky Nugget in Frontierland is a great place, nice atmosphere with the band too - not sure about pricing I'm afraid! Also, Cafe Mickey in Village is also rather popular too, and it's open till late. There's a few others too sometimes

    Fastrack

It's always been caled Hydration Fastrack.
  5. The bark chippings used to be an orangey red, with yellow bark protruding out from the centre, to give a lava like look. I can't seem to find any photos either! Nowadays, it's pretty much just orange bark!

    Fastrack

Actually, it's both wristband and ticket, which lists all the rides you can use the Fastrack on. Both are countersigned and dated in order to validate eligibility, I should assume because it is a very expensive package!

    Fastrack

You may have to save up a little longer, dude, Ultimate Fastrack is now £70!
  8. SAW - The Ride Fastrack is not available until around May, and as such, the only time the Fastrack Entrance will be closed is when the ride itself is closed or during a shutdown. Haha, I laugh in your face!
  9. The part with the water effect, so to speak, is based around the first film, I wouldn't think they'd plonk something random there for the fun of it! It is slightly hard to tell in normal lighting conditions though...
  10. What about a severed foot, shackled to a pipe? :)Honestly though, the attention to detail in the Bathroom scene is amazing, there is actually a lot there! You just can't appreciate it as much when on the ride as normal!
  11. The ride restrictions on the website state that "For safety reasons guests must be properly secured in the seat, which may not be possible for some guests with larger torso or thigh measurements." A selection of the biggest rides have a test seat outside them, and if you're above 1.95m and have a 51" chest, it is recommended you use the test seat provided at the entrance of these rides, as to avoid potential dissappointment prior to boarding. As far as I'm aware (do not quote me on this), the belt buckle on any of the restraints must be secured properly. However, there are some rides, such as Vortex, Samurai and SAW: The Ride that do not have seat belts, so there is a light provided which signifies whether or not the seat is able to accomodate a person of your said size (The SAW one beeps as well! )Hopefully you'll have a great day, my friend has very large legs, and an extra push on the Vortex restraints usually does the trick!I hope I've helped! ;)EDIT: Josh R beat me to post , but adding onto his point about Nemesis Inferno, the test seat outside is that of the larger modified seats, so if you fit into that, you should be fine!
  12. Hey peeps! I won't be attending the event as such, however you should see me on both the Saturday and Sunday attending on SAW Depending on what time I finish, I might pop down to Nando's after Looking forward to see you blaptings!
  13. Ahh mate, I really do feel for you. I didn't officially come out at school (some say I still haven't) but I still had a load of it myself, and like you I either ignored it or just brushed it off. However, like Mark9 said, things WILL get better from here on, and you will have a lot more freedom to express yourselfI used to get stuff like that a lot, and although it may not be like you to do it now, just milk it. I've rarely ever encountered any homophobes recently, but should such a comment be made, play along with it (within reason of course). Back in the day, even if it wasn't the best idea, I thought "stuff it", I proper camped it up and started acting all flirty around the guys who took the mick. It eventually shut them up, but if you ask me, just act yourself, be yourself, and you will be more universally accepted by your fellow peers, if not so already! I personally try to make something positive out of any negative instance such as that!]Judging by the way you phrased that, don't for a second think that you're not normal. You are who you are! :PWhy thank you! Dude, everything should pass over time. I don't know what your choices are for when you finish your GCSEs (and it's all up to you), but I personally found leaving school for college a great way to boost my self esteem and build my character more. I forget what else I was going to say here, but you will learn so much about yourself in the years to come! I still have much to learn myself! By being who I am now, I feel more accepted by people for being me than I was back in the school days (I didn't have much street cred back then, especially as it was an all boys school!).
  14. Click HERE for some information on the actual Calgary Stampede. I read something about it a while back, and in my opinion, it couldn't have had a better name for the ride/area. Great ride too back in the day, but looking back, the colour scheming wasn't all that good, along with the actual ride structure. I do remember the queue line being a massive cattle pen alongside a rock facade, like the back section of CCR.
  15. Ahh well done mate! As for being in retail, you will still have to do the Health & Hygiene shizzle because you're dealing with the likes of stock with expiry dates and what not. As standard with all retail outlets (not just Thorpe) that sell products such as drinks and ice cream, regular daily temperature checks have to be completed. There's loads more to it, but to be fair, it's not rocket science, it's a total breeze! I was selling coffee during the winter, not in a coffee shop like Starbucks, but for a company called Nespresso, and I still had to do the training! Don't worry about it though, you'll learn what's relevant! A little examination hurt no one
  16. Sort of. It goes: Hosts < RACs < TLs < RUMs and so on.... all very cool stuff! They've also put in a fantastic "pyramid" training scheme this year, to ensure people get trained fairly on the rides and get more opportunity to operate. Personally I think this year will be the best year ever, so you've clearly joined at a great time! I'm bare looking forward to my new home for the first 6 weeks too!
  17. You're so Gay, and you don't even like boys!No you don't even like, No you don't even like,No you don't even liiiiiikeee........PENIS!
  18. Haha totally agreed! To be fair, I think I just hinted it to my dad time to time, he probably saw it since I was little! My best friend (uber straight) funnily enough remembers the first time he came around my house when we were 4, and I came down the stairs wearing a pink dress! Lol oh dear.... FASHION STATEMENT OR WHAT!? Never again! :PAs for doing spontaneous things, there's so much I can get away with (with some people), I spank some of my mates on the arse, as my way of telling them I love them lol, as for going over the P.A. singing, doing "matchmaking services", or just plain old doing whatever, dancing around usually, I can get away with it.... even if I still get odd looks! (I don't care though, I'll do my finger dances as much as I like!) Haha, good times!
  19. Smart-Casual should do it. Wear some nice jeans or trousers with a nice shirt, but don't go OTT with a tie, unless you look uber sleek (like me ) Haha!
  20. I think they'll like the sound of that, seeing as (I assume) you know all your Health & Hygiene/Food Safety stuff, and the fact that it's in a football stadium proves you're used to working in a hectic environment! Permitting the job, you should fit in rather nicely! Same as Outfit said, just be yourself, take the time to think what you're going to say, if you have any questions, just ask (at the right time), and don't forget to SMILE! Love it!
  21. Haha, I'm Bi... but to be fair, I come across as a massive gayer. If you ever met me, you'd see why, but I'm not OVERLY camp, although I have been described by some as a posh, camp, chav! lol... I don't think singing the likes of "If You're Happy and You Know It..." and "Womanizer" over the P.A. help! :huh:Guys who are confused/haven't come out yet, I was in the same position as you, this time, 2 years ago (check on SP if you don't believe me haha).... it was majorly frustrating for me, and now I'm just taking life as it comes. Although I am a very nice bloke, I did manage to win myself "Throughput of the Year 2008" at the Experience end of season party. I'm not that bad honestly, but the actual award had nothing to do with being the best batcher on Logger's Leap lolTo be honest, I'm not fussed with what I get, I'm not greedy.... but I tend to go for guys, seeing as they're easier to get along with for me, however the girls do love me!!..... just not in that way!
  22. Be aware that R&A is the most popular department for applications, so it's kind of done on a first come first served basis. Back in 2006, I waited until I was just about to finish my GCSEs to apply for the job, and at the time there were vacancies in R&A, but by the time I had a response (3 weeks later) for an over the phone interview, there were only vacancies in F&B or Park Presentations. So F&B it was for me. You CAN attend on rides at 16, plenty of staff that work there are often under 18, but it's often convenient for them to employ someone who will be able to operate also. Quite a few cast members who were under 18 turned 18 last season (including myself). Of course, saying that, they'll employ who they think is most suitable for the job!If you do a fantastic job this season, you should be invited back, and then you'll have the opportunity to apply for R&A if you wish. For my second season I went back to F&B to develop my skills more, and for the third, finally went over to R&A. Same for this year! Thorpe is a fantastic place, but don't hype yourself up too much. It isn't always a walk in the park, and requires a lot of energy and effort.... but yes, BLATANTLY the best job ever It's very hard to consider when one may have to move on from such a proactive job.Hope any peeps on here have a great time working there, and wish anyone applying all the best! Perhaps you may be riding my Banana some day, or maybe again! (Yes I'm obsessed with people riding my Banana! )
  23. Time Voyagers is the new 4-D attraction, replacing Pirates 4-D. The original film resides at Gardaland, in Italy. As a result, the speech is said to be re-recorded by Thorpe's Entertainments department. I look forward to working on this attraction this year!
