  1. Holy s**t Watching that has really disturbed me...that noise And the ride music going "Ha ha ha" straight afterwards just sounds so twisted. I can't help but wonder why the clip has only emerged now. I guess out of respect the person didn't send it in to any media? It's just unfortunate that it's appeared now, a week before the hearing.
  2. Really looking forward to this So once discount/no discount is confirmed, we just call up ourselves and book it, rather than online - even if we pay the full £50? As you can't specify which ride when booked online. I'm guessing it's a separate number for the park directly and not the general booking line?
  3. Thanks for the update! There were 35 members interested so hopefully we'll still have a good number attending. C'mon people!
  4. So I got to try this on Saturday. Unfortunately I found the food quality quite poor It was weird, because the first mouthful or two were nice, but then it seemed really bland! It was more like Burger Kitchen quality tbh! Have heard good things about the desserts, but by that point I was quite put off eating anything else/couldn't afford it! It's also a shame that there wasn't much to choose from; would be nice to see things like pasta on there for example, even if it was just the one dish like bolognese or lasagne. Yes, you can serve bolognese at a food loop restaurant, I had it myself at Europa I love the theming though, and how the lighting changes colour to match the ride videos that play The staff and the general service were good too!

    Injuries

I broke my little a few months ago, first time I've ever broken a bone I was getting ready for work when it hit the bathroom doorframe - that is, the doorframe got "caught" between my little toe and the one next to it, with a spectacular crack! You think stubbing your toe is painful enough, try breaking it, it's a whole new level plus that sick feeling that goes through your body when it's in extreme pain (shock reaction?)! The worst thing about all of this is that I still went to work that day (a hour and a half or so commute on trains and buses), in agony, was obviously late because of it but it was still put on my record and going against me! Why did I go into work with such a painful injury? Well, I thought that given how easy it is to break your little toe, it would be fine to carry on, given I have a sit down job, and try and bear the commute. Plus I felt pressured to put the effort in as it was only a minor injury and was concerned I would look lazy (don't get me started on those who brag about putting the effort in to work while they're really ill - yeah, good for you, except you're not letting your body get better as quick as it could, plus spreading your germs and making everyone else ill, which ironically has a worse impact on the company than just the one person being off ill). Big mistake. The first few days are vital for helping the swelling go down, and the first two weeks are the most important for the healing process, it's when you need to be more careful about baring weight and walking, so I should've been safer than sorry and taken that day off, and a few afterwards to keep it rested. The result? My little toe is still a bit swollen, so rubs against my shoes and gets quite sore, and still feels stiff/occasionally painful to move. I broke it back in April ffs. Tl;dr: Listen to your body when you injure yourself, and take whatever steps necessary for it to heal, regardless of what pressure is put on you. It's your body!
  6. Unless anything changes, I will definitely be going to this!
  7. At Thorpe last weekend, whilst in the Rush queueline, a group of teens/young adults pointing at Quantum: Girl: "Is that the banana one?" Boy: "Nah it's the pirate one!" Ok then
  8. Still haven't been on this damn thing Didn't go there first thing today as I assumed that's what everyone would do. Queue time thing on their website said it was unavailable, but walked past to see people in the queue (it was the same for Detty so it's not reliable at all, however the queue boards were more accurate). This was at about 11:00. Was informed they were only letting 300 people in the queue at a time and that they didn't know how long it would be until the next lot could go through, and to come back later (bit odd...unless it's actually being that unreliable that they really didn't know if they'd be sending anymore through at all ). Come back later to be pretty much told it's now completely broken and will be down for the rest of the day, and that it will be being fixed (or something along those lines) over the weekend. TL;DR: If you're going tomorrow, I suspect it'll be closed
  9. Download the app called Heads Up! It's basically Who Am I? but you obviously hold the phone up to your forehead instead Was a great way to pass the time queueing for Crush's Coaster at the DLP meet - and other people were watching us, then asking Peaj what the app was! Or you could have a tickle fight, which seems to happen at meets every so often
  10. Won't be attending this as I'll be at Thorpe Plus I probably wouldn't have attended anyway due to the travel costs and park tickets - need to save for the Blackpool meet and the Stealth anniversary event Hope everyone has fun! It's meant to be getting hot again this weekend - Peppa Pig might turn into bacon
  11. Just came across this! Margate's in-debt Dreamland to remain open http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-36976634
  12. This is going to be great! I know at previous behind-the-scenes events, we weren't allowed to take photos (or if we did, we couldn't post them online). Will we be allowed to now, seeing as these tours are available to the public?
  13. Agree with Benin that the general public do notice when parks are run down. People I work with have said it - people who are not enthusiasts, only visit occasionally and haven't even been to any parks abroad to compare it to! Chessington in particular is picked up on
  14. Best ride photo ever! Front row on this coaster plus some cheeky room between myself and the lap bar = epic airtime! Also I love how my clothes are literally being blasted off
  15. Dare you to try that when pulling the old dears this time
  16. Can't believe I'm asking this, given that I've been going to Chessie since my childhood But whereabouts is this blood falls/water? Didn't see it at the meet (although I did forget to look out for it, but then going by the photo it would be hard to miss!) and I honestly had no idea there was any water/water effects in the area until I saw the photo! Station music is still too low/PA too loud, sad times. The organist was looking sorry for himself; not only has he died (again), but I swear his hair looks shorter, making him look less creepy! CoasterDude pointed it out and I could see what he meant Painted fences though, wahey!
  17. SUPER SATURDAY - your hottest record in the world right now. Not that new (and I do also like their more recent single, "Desire") but I just love this! SECRET SUNDAY- BONUS TRACK. I only discovered this on my uncle's DJ slot on Point Blank FM (he plays various dance music, such as soulful house, deep house etc, no mainstream chart stuff!) Love it Thanks y'all for listening (and baring with)! Ta ta!
  18. FILM FRIDAY - your favorite movie soundtrack. Aah, film soundtracks Such a vital part of films when creating moods and stirring emotions, drawing you in even more. There are many that I love; some the entire soundtrack, others being particular songs/pieces. My favourite would have to be Harry Potter - what more would you expect from a Potter fan girl? I'm not even talking about the main theme here (as good as it is), but the other pieces, which I also think can be appreciated on their own, without even being a fan or even seeing the films. My favourite book and film is Prisoner of Azkaban, and the same goes for soundtrack, composed by the brilliant John Williams. Love all of it! In particular: Aunt Marge's Waltz; The Knight Bus; Apparition On The Train; Double Trouble; Buckbeak's Flight; Secrets Of The Castle; Hagrid The Professor; The Werewolf Scene; Finale...and last but definitely not least, A Window To The Past, my favourite Although I usually skip straight to around 1:02 as it takes a while to get going. Also love a lot of the Goblet of Fire soundtrack (Patrick Doyle), particularly these two, which are played in the final room of the Warner Bros Studio Tour with the model of the castle: It's breathtaking when you walk in and see it, and with this music playing as well it's quite emotional/overwhelming Also have to mention from that soundtrack "Another Year Ends", from Philosopher's Stone "Arrival Of Baby Harry" and "Leaving Hogwarts", from Chamber of Secrets "Fawkes The Phoenix" and from Order Of The Phoenix "Fireworks" and "The Ministry of Magic" Some other favourites: Obviously there are the Back To The Future soundtracks, my favourite being from the first film (love every song on that one): Aside from the awesome "Power Of Love", there's the famous main theme that's used throughout which goes so well with the action, particularly when Marty is going back to 1985 - that tension of him literally racing against the clock, Doc frantically trying to fix everything without falling off the clock tower...! And Earth Angel, n'awww...that part of the song near the end where Marty's parents finally kiss! Also love the music in the train scene in BTTF 3 Goes so well with the action and the pace of the train! The late James Horner composed the soundtrack for The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, and the opening piece, "Boys Playing Airplanes" is beautiful. I thought it was lovely that they used it at the BAFTAs in February during the "In Memory Of" part And finally, the song from View To A Kill is just epic!
  19. THUMPING THURSDAY - dance dance dance. So many great dance songs, and dance is one of my favourite genres of music, so I will have to choose three songs again (so greedy ! In no particular order: MUCH better than the version with vocals! OOFT Absolutely brilliant 90s trance song! It's got a great build-up, then when it kicks off...dayum! Even though (according to Wikipedia) it was originally released in 1993, I remember my parents first playing it in the late 90s. It was remixed quite a few times, so that's possibly why; the version they had then mixed into two further songs ("For An Angel" by Paul Van Dyk, not sure what the third one was called but I remember how it went). They loved this song and often used to blare it out at weekends and in the car Also, for some reason it always used to remind me of my first ride on Vampire Have always loved this one! And we learnt how to play the main tune on the keyboard in year 8 music, which led to me making it my ringtone on my Nokia 3310 (remember when you could compose your own ringtones?!)
  20. Right, I'm getting there Have updated the last post with Monday and Tuesday! WHATEVER WEDNESDAY - anything goes. Was quite stuck with this one but I kept coming back to one song in particular, sooo... Aside from how jolly and catchy the song is (and great fun to sing along to in a car!), it reminds me of working at Thorpe in 2007; at the end of each year, the rides department would make a comical music video, and this was the song they used that year Sadly it's not on YouTube anymore, but it involved the ride unit managers say on various rides miming to the song. Good times! More coming tonight (definitely)
  21. I am alive and haven't forgotten about this! Will have a major catch up tomorrow UPDATE! MELLOW MONDAY - Some thing you like to relax to. I was a bit stuck with this, as it can depend on where my mind is at and how much I can engage with the music. So I have chosen three! In no particular order: Now, many here will recognise this as the queueline music from The Sanctuary at Alton Towers, and whilst that was the first time I'd heard this piece of music, I can assure you I'm not thinking of marmalisation, Dr Kelman or lebotomies when chilling It is actually such a calming piece of music, and every time I listen to it, I can't help but breathe a big sigh of relief/relaxation Plus it makes me smile. Always The next two are from M83's album, "Before The Dawn Heals Us": Moonchild: Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun: There are a few others on that album which I can relax to, but those two really stand out. Back when I worked at the boarding cattery, there were many blissful afternoons after work where I would have a nap on my bed whilst listening to that album Falling asleep to their music is a perfect escape! This is where the thing about engaging in the music comes in; I find that I have to be in the right "mood" to listen to some of their music, as I find it very immersive. "Lower Your Eyelids" though... CHEESY TUESDAY - Something you love, but maybe you shouldn't. Again, three songs come to mind here. Although I wouldn't use the word "love" except maybe for one, and even then I use it lightly That song is: What a happy, catchy song! Hilarious lyrics and entertaining video too The other two: Come on, it's so cheerful and positive! Even if it does make Tony Blair pop into my head Also it's funny to think that Prof. Brian Cox was the keyboard player in the band! Yes, there was a Doctor Who song released in 1988, and yes, there was a 12-inch version! The song reached number 1 in the UK singles chart in June 88 too! Enjoy
  22. Thought I'd revive this with two ORPs from the Chessie meet, where the faces pulled are...interesting Photo 1 Peaj: "And to your right, you will see the recently revived Buddha!" Me: "No. Just bring back the bloody rocks." Photo 2 Tommy: "Oh great, I sit between the two new members and they're psychopaths!" Me: "I have no words for what has become of this ride. Time to become a puffer fish!" Louise (terrortomb): "I am so done with this crap. Just bring back Terror Tomb."
