You can see the lack of restraints quite visibly from the Colossus lift hill. There's a rather large skip next to Slammer now and that's where I'm hoping it'll end up. They could always replace it with Slammer shaped hedges.

Wow as if I first voted in this topic 6 years ago. I can't believe it's still going! I see I voted Bi on 11th April 2007 but I'm actually gay. I don't even remember ever thinking I was bi to be honest. I can't really say I've ever thought of you as camp m'dear!

They don't look too bad. Pretty sure they're not entirely new trains though?

I believe the clip you have just posted is the newer chime for the WWTP jingles. The original Tidal Wave loop still uses the older one which is a sharper glockenspiel sounding ding, rather than the "piano swipe". I say "newer chime", it's at least 7 years old now! In regards to The Noise, as much as I hated the chart music at Thorpe before, I do think this actually sounds okay now. It's a much more professional sounding mix than last year and even more so now the pitch for the chart music is back to normal. As long as it's self contained to the Dome and the entrance then I think it's pretty nifty now. The old mixture of Rocky Express, the Flume and other bits was a bit random and out of place. As Phill has said it is indeed just like the old Thorpe Park Radio days, I suspect the issue here is that people just don't like the actual songs! I'll be the first to admit that when I hear a song in the loo's that I like I'm all "Yeaaaaahhhh!" but as soon as it's a song I don't like then I detest the whole thing and long for Rocky Express back! I do firmly think all the rides should have their own individual themes and nothing else unless it's an event. It was lovely to hear Vortex playing it's proper audio again and I love the Inferno station set up now. Just need to get Colossus back to the correct pitch and the proper station audio restored!
  5. World class? I'm assuming none of the senior management at Thorpe have ridden or even looked at Colossus in the past two years then.

I never left. :ph34r:The high pitched audio sounded pretty accidental to me, especially WWTP.

Quite a while back. It was one of Ian Habgood's compositions so it was around the same time as Colossus and Air. At least 10 years old now.

I'm sure it did create a great atmosphere... for people who like that song.I think it's a horrific song personally and would completely spoil the atmosphere for me. Themed music creates an atmosphere for a themed area, fair enough the entrance doesn't have any specific theme but look at what having themed music did for Alton Towers back when it used the original Towers Street, everyone knew it and associated it with magical Alton Towers. Having somebody going oooh ooohooohh ooohh oooh Barbara Streisand oooh ooooh ooooh isn't going to have that effect at all but I suppose it's going to keep it's target audience happy and that's all that matters. If I wanted to hear chart music I'd put my TV on, I go to theme parks for escapism from every day life. Well at least I used to.

Chain Gang was the Sam Cooke song used on WWTP. Though Wonderful World is better IMO

True and correct, if you consider between 10:15 and 10:40 on time.

Thorpe is a theme park, therefore it should have its own soundtracks. The entrance theme fits Thorpe perfectly, theme parks are supposed to be about magic and escapism. What escapism do you get from hearing the crap that you hear in Asda or on The Hits? The unfortunate thing is, the majority of people who visit Thorpe happen to be into all that sort of stuff so all they're doing really is appealing to their audience. It's a shame they're ruining the atmosphere by doing so.

Thats like you getting a Toyota and then me saying you have a clone of my car.If we're gonna start referring to them as clones then it should be Colossus that gets called a clone, not Monte Makaya.
  15. James replied to Adam J's topic in General Discussion
I don't really think these other coasters can be called clones, Monte Makaya was built in 1998. It can't be a clone if it was built first. And they're hardly clones its just a package / standard design that Intamin offer.
  16. Ermm thats pretty ghastly though I think hiding Wally in there near Detonator is quite cute.

Not much when you can afford to spend £14million on a rollercoaster. Or when you have bulk orders either.

The one that plays is simply a better quality copy of the one I came up with, that I poked Marc to mix, with about 3 extra songs added on to it. We did plan to do one with like the whole last hour changed though that never happened.

I suppose my claim to fame is having my voice heard by 2000 commuters everyday.I've had Pete Waterman get off a train that I was dispatching and also walked past Will Mellors. Didn't speak to either of them though
  23. This is the first time I've been on here for a while. I have to say this layout is shockingly horrible :-) No offence to the person who made it.
