    Safety Checks

Anyone who says 'restraints never fail' or 'they don't need to be checked' have absolutely NO clue what they are talking about.Restraints on the majority DO need to be checked. There is a lot of mitigating factors in the probability of restraints failing, however it's a lot more of a common occurrence that expected. Why do staff need to check if restraints are locked?I'll give you a lot of why..1. Some restraints do not need to be locked for the car/train to be dispatched. What Rides does this include? Runaway Train (at both CWoA and AT), Rattlesnake, Tomb Blaster, Duel, Vampire and some others.2. The operator can do what they want in manual mode. There is nearly always a Manual Mode key or switch that lets you simply send the car when you want.3. Restraint systems CAN and WILL fail. Nothing is ever totally safe. Welds can shear on anything, and if you knew how many minor and major cracks there are that are highlighted in parts of Rides in their winter strip down. How many bolts are there in Stealth? 100? 1000? 100,000? Probably about half a million bolts. They can shear, however can they realistically be checked every morning? 22,000 parts make up each Vampire train, from nuts, washers and piston valves, all the way up to full seats. 4. Restraints can send at any locked points. And any of you clueless morons that think a 'three click challenge' is anything cool, or fun, then stop. I'm not being a killjoy, however that's a lot less clicks that the restraint is able to pop. Keep your bloody seatbelt on.5. A lot more rides than you think will not have a safety system in place to check if the restraints are actually locked. If they weren't locked, and not checked then the seat could well have popped and then you've got either extremely bad PR for your rides, or a death on your hands. There are some rides however that do not need to be checked. Top Spins have a 5 system safety lock. Top restraint locking pin and pneumatic lock, bottom restraint locking pin and pneumatic locking pin and a sensor to detect movement between the two, and if that sensor is breached, the ride e-stops itself.I don't care if I sound Health and Safety mad but restraints need to be checked for GENUINE reasons, including the reasons above. I have seem some bad things happen to people through injury, etc etc. This post is really aimed at debunking the myth that 'Checking restraints doesn't need to be done' - it's utter bollocks.

    Samurai

I'd imagine the key to bring it into Manual Mode are not in the control box, I presume Code Zero would be a key holder TL to attend..
  3. My best idea of how to modify Bubbleworks is fill the trough with petrol (not loads, BUT enough to see some high flames) on a Friday afternoon and come back on Monday morning.Job done.

    X

Did anyone know if X closed at all during the offload platformer being reintroduced?Must have been a bloody mess getting the new control system signed off.. It took 3 hours for the Carousel to be resigned over from LTC to control of CWoA engineering just after the replacement of a sodding touchscreen, it's not even safety critical!
  5. I presume you're a staff member?And no.But preview night ftw.
  6. It simply goes through to the email system that runs off of guest.services@thorpepark.com.The mobile phone for queue jumping goes through to the Park Tango Team - who are Park Excellence Hosts and will then call security. Well, it used to be like that last year, but Tango team does nay exist anymore.

    Random

HA! HAHA!Why is it funny? Because it's true.Just kidding Jack
  8. Never, ever justify your actions on other peoples actions. If I had a pound for every time someone say that to me in my job, I'd own the place. Rarely, surprisingly do people write dumb comments, occasionally yes but the GP do actually write fair comments. When general feedback is going to mostly be about queueing times, Fastrack, prices; there will be comments in there which do amount (some I have already quoted in previous post), which can help the park get better. However, ignorant comments such as 'More theming on Storm Surge' will not get considered, for quite obvious reasons such as non existent return on investment, lack of addition to guest experience vs costs. See my point?
  9. I believe it will be..Asylum in normal place.Se7en on the smaller side of the beach, where Curse was.New maze on opposite side of beach, larger section.Curse and Hellgate not being built.
  10. Touchscreens have existed at TP for quite a long time but the system is for feedback, not what you want to see. It simply leads to a logging system that effectively bulks up what people want.Such as..More shade in queue lines.More seating around the park.More easily accessible water fountains.Lockers to be around park in easier to access places.Etc. As Sheepie has said, not 'OMG PUT THEMING ON STORM SURGE' will not get through, and such comments treads over all their goodwill that they have put into this system.
  11. Bye Hellgate :(Most gutting news I've heard in a long time.
  12. The ride has started to be covered in an 'upside down U' set of scaffolding - ride will be unavailable for some time.
  13. Well not even the manufacturer who has repeatedly been on site recently know what is wrong with it.It takes a VERY long time to fault find, it finally started up this evening as was open.
  14. There was a very low water level in the flume at Bridlington at the time, and the boat crashed into the bottom of the trough and threw the woman from the ride. Her leg was amputated.
  15. Christ that sign is awful! Can't actually believe they'd name it that, and with that logo..
  16. Magic pen? When it was acceptable to write down 2000 exit riders for Capers?'HAMILTON Broad'
  17. Come on, I bet you've got some diamonds you've achieved whilst trying to queue bust...Mine is Griffins with 203pph - anyone bettered this?
  18. Well I appreciate you've come back with that answer, Benin.I agree with staff taking it probably a little too far after just one instance of a guest failure (scarf on the track, car stalling summer 2009) and interaction bar far taking the piss, especially the one you did experience at Fury sometime in the middle past. Did Bubbleworks not just get the manufacturers manual reread to find out it was actually find four 4 adults + 1 kid? I never really found out why they did change it.Thanks for an integral reply though Benin!

    The Smiler

Aquatrax are good if you want your back disjointed.Apart from that, no.
  20. Yes they do.If you're over 1.3m you can sit at the end of the row. Between the heights you can sit in the middle. Exactly the same as Griffins with an adult on the end to stop the kids slipping out. Blade is exactly the same; if they don't follow it then that's they're problem when breaking CoSWP. Which is a legally binding document... How AT interpret 300kg is how they interpret; however the track work that is done in comparison to Fury would be a sure fire way to display the difference of three vs whatever AT interpret it as. Do you have any idea how long Rides managers at CwOAR have worked trying to push for this but the manufacturers have had none of it? Stringent following because rules are there to be bent, but not broken. When it comes with managing risk within a theme park which is an already dangerous place, it's a toughy. You can't just do x and then totally obliterate it in desire for guest experience of wanting four adults in a car. Surely? Again, do you have ANY clue what you're talking about? They don't sit in meetings and play 'guess the amendment to the CoSWP' do they? They don't do it to be intentionally difficult to just wind Benin De'Giovanni up do they? Come on, for gods sake.
  21. Funny you say that, Fury was totally buggered today and will be for the next few days.
  22. Do you have any clue what you're talking about - because all that comes out is bigheaded bull****.Buccaneer is a GERMAN ride that has had new GERMAN manufacturer restrictions imposed on it, exactly the same way that Falls, and GERMAN ride had GERMAN manufacturer restrictions imposed on it.Nothing has happened on Fury - the two adults to a car was repealed after a review and three adults in a car is in force because the car can take 300kg each, which is roughly 75kg each. Which is three fat people. Again, a GERMAN ride having GERMAN restrictions imposed on it. The construction of the ride is piss poor, there is only so many times you can say that Lift 1 is meant to sway like that. The basis is that if the chain had snapped in any other direction, it would have smashed straight into the train, killed the two people in the front train and seriously hurt the guests behind in rows 2 backwards.Do you have ANY CLUE what you're talking about Benin?
  23. Three trains will not be in operation after a consolation between CWoAR and HSEC - due to the possibility of the Lift 2 chain snapping, they don't want to run on three trains. What a **** excuse..
