Parks, Rides And Coaster News
Weren't people complaining about The Swarm's speed in the first off ride videos? Complaints about an unfinished ride not having theming is a bit petty, even if this is Six Flags. It's not like The Swarm has sorted out all its effects.

MASH-UP 2012
It will be interesting to see how well the Colossus Silent Disco works in practice. It could be a lot of fun if it runs smoothly like at festivals.

I'm guessing another Green Lantern for Six Flags.

The Swarm
I find it odd that the coaster community seems adamant that the next coaster instalment is going to be most intense yet. Sure 13 had misleading advertising but the plans weren't anything crazy. The Wingrider design means by its nature we weren't going to get the next Nemesis.I can see The Swarm fitting in with Inferno as a staple, reliable ride. Meanwhile, Stealth struggles to open and Saw and Colossus can have unpleasantly rough rides.

You obviously missed this debacle then.I do agree with the consistency of the themeing. It has good setpieces but it would be nice to have some burnt out buildings, etc. Then again, all I see in the Saw queue are pieces of rust, some plants and an blue and yellow train cruising along. Oh.

THE SWARM: In The Media
I really wouldn't call it a 'Thorpe Park Cock Up' when the opening has been far more successful than Saw.

Top 10's
1. Bizarro - Six Flags New England 2. Nemesis - Alton Towers 3. Blue Fire Megacoaster - Europa Park 4. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror - MGM Studios 5. Tatsu - Six Flags Magic Mountain If only Bizarro and Tatsu were at well run parks

Alton Towers General Discussion
Cutting costs is an attempt to maximise profits. Revenue minus costs is profit. In this case, it could backfire if the response is so negative. If anything, the effect will be in the long run if guests feel like their day has been a time squeeze and choose to not visit again. What's to stop them carrying this on if there are no complaints? For example, we have no idea if other sponsors were lined up after Fanta.

You make it sound like the park is in dire financial problems.

SAW: Alive
I think they are part of Premiere Screaming so guaranteed from Thursday until Sunday in some form.

Alton Towers General Discussion
This is a rather bizarre decision because it means that Merlin sees opening park for an extra hour is losing them money.Firstly, there's the whole value for money thing which has already been mentioned. Then there's the problem of confusion, just like the 'simplicity' of showing prices without VAT, VAT separately and price plus VAT. Guests don't want complication on a day which focuses on escapism. Then there's the who attitude taken to this. When Animal Kingdom used to bleed guests in the afternoon, they created a new evening show in an attempt to retain guests. People will stay in the summer if there is an incentive to.

Adam, your photo taking skills and camera put mine to shame. The ride itself is excellent, even if it is somewhat disappointing that Merlin avoided a longer layout on a coaster once again. It's a lot of fun and due to the nature of the seats, every one offers a great ride. The leg guards are completely unnoticeable, unless you are sitting in the front row where they curve around. The actors around the area were all very entertaining with soldiers jumping out and screaming at people, while also not being afraid to walk up to groups and stare them down. The absolute standout was the minister roaming around the station though. He would sneak up behind you and whisper tag lines of the coaster, dance around the station, etc.Whether things like the front row system run smoothly in peak times will be interesting. Also, a long queue could be pretty painful in the summer as it offers little shade and is very compact.

Alton Towers Meet 2012
The under 18 room had problems at the Chessington meet anyway. Even though there was nothing in the T&Cs and was booked without problems, the staff were very much against a room with just minors.

THE SWARM: In The Media
I'm going to guess that this soundtrack is just another PR thing. Thorpe probably composed the instrumental, gave it to the band and recorded them. I'll be surprised if it isn't instrumental. That would honestly drive me insane in any queue of a decent length.

Yeah, for example Magic Mountain is incapable of opening half the coasters in windy conditions and won't run more than one train on ones that do open. Their food is absolutely diabolical as well. I think it's a psychological thing for Silver Star. The ride area and queue has been designed to put you in a racing mindset, so when you see see the roads and cars when you get on ride, it makes sense.

I'll be the first in line to say that Six Flags sucks but for the prices they charge for an annual pass for all their parks, I don't mind about themeing. It's more the fact that struggling to actually run the rides and parks is an understatement.

Eh, I won't be buying Mass Effect 3 or any EA games due to how poorly they are treating customers. Too bad as it's a great series.
