  1. I can't see a simple way of doing it.
  2. Great idea! I think he could also say "Let the Games Begin", and the carriage exits the station.
  3. I know it's completely random, but I just though I would point out my favourite theme in the park:Rumba Rapids!Every time I hear it, it brings back such great memories . Doesn't anyone else love that theme?
  4. I couldn't agree more. I can see it already.
  5. Oh ok. I did think twice about Merlin employing people under the age of 16 for any jobs - whether it be ride related or anything else within the park.
  6. Are you talking about that they are 14 years old?I called up the Thorpe Park Recruitment Centre, and surprisingly, found out that the age restriction of working as a ride host in only 15. She said that to be an operator, you have to be 16+, but the age requirement for jobs like checking bars and suchlike is only 15.
  7. Lol. As you said, the first ticket has to be used in the Thrill Chill. But still, great value for money .
  8. Look on attractiontix.com. The offer as mentioned above still stands. As it looks from the description, you can purchase 2 days for the price of 1 for £15 per adult, if you use the second ticket before the end of June 2009. When booking, you have to enter the first date you are planning to visit, and upon arrival, you can pick up the tickets for that day, and consequently the tickets for the following day before June. It works out effectivly £7.50 per day - the cheapest I've ever seen. .The first ticket must be used on a weekend in march, either the 28th february, 1st, or the 7th and 8th march. Unfortunately you have to go to the first day (I.e.: you cannot just go for the second day), to collect the tickets for the second day as well.
  9. They usually have some great deals online, such as from Lastminute.com or Buyagift.com for example. I have looked, but can't find any for the main season for 2009. I expect that various companies will begin issuing discounts and offers once the main season has started from the 14th March 2009. I will continue to look though, and let you know if I find anything .
  10. Ok thanks for the pictures. So I presume that a new park area on that island is really out of the question?
  11. Does anyone know what Thorpe Park have done with the land that used to house the farm?
  12. Good Idea. They could replace the existing 3D Time Voyagers, which I feel is ok the first time, but doesn't have the re-ride factor.
  13. Thank You. I am having a great time on here, everyone is so nice.
  14. Yes! After the countdown you get ready to scream but the drop seems to make it pretty impossible .
  15. I joined a few days ago. I have been reading the forum for a while, and thought that I would love to become part of it . I am Paul and am 15 years old. Thorpe Park is easily my favourite theme park, with Slammer as my favourite ride . I am already enjoying discussing ideas on here, and looking forward to making lots of new friends.
  16. I agree with Stealth and Nemesis, and Detonator is a whole new experience compared to in the day. Makes the ride so much better .
  17. I always head straight to Nemesis, shortly followed by Detonator. If during the summer holidays, I always eat at the Bush BBQ, any other time of the year I eat at KFC in Amity Cove. I always turn right in the queue for Slammer, when queueing for the separate sides. I always sit at the front of the log on Loggers Leap. I always look down when at the top of detonator. I always go and get donuts after Vortex, which will be followed by Tidal Wave. (Don't ask me why!).

    Your Thorpe Park

Personally, at one point, I think Thorpe Park could do with an intense water coaster, perhaps one of the newly developed Intamin designs. An AquaTrax ride perhaps?

    Your Thorpe Park

I think you have some very good ideas there. I like the idea of a Top Spin in the new SAW area, with a re-themed Top Scan. If you themed the Top Spin similar to Ripsaw at Alton Towers, that would be a very effective ride.
  20. On my first ride, to be honest, I wouldn't mind a queue of around an hour. Without all the discussions of spectacular theming in the queue line and in the station building, and the recent addition of live actors, I imagine the long queue would be quite entertaining - and definately build up the suspense. I can imagine a great atmosphere inside the station building . But after the first ride on it, I don't think I would care for the queue as much, I would just want to get on the ride .
  21. Ride update on TPM looks great. Can't wait.... only 18 days . I am really suprised at how quickly progress is being made. It appears that so much work is done, and so many improvements are made in just the small space of a couple of days. I can't see the queue on opening day being that extreme. I for one am going a few days after, during the week, as to hopefully avoid major queues, although you still never know . Also, you never know what is going to happen on opening day. I will the give the ride a few days to settle in, and then give it a try.
  22. I have no idea, I just think that the 2008 voiceover is more intense and makes the ride more exciting at the start
  23. The new theme is ok but it doesn't really fit the "calypso" style as much as the old theme did. Also, they kept the original countdown and just pasted it into the new soundtrack. It doesn't really work, whereas the old theme fitted nicely with the countdown. But I do think the voiceover, ("Hold On Tight, And Prepare For Detonation!"), is better than the original voice.
