Chessington 2023 season
MattyMoo replied to Theme Park Fanatic's topic in Chessington World of Adventures
I would genuinely be over the moon (no really) if Thorpe got new pathways like that, because so many of them are an absolute mess - in particular outside DBGTROTD into the "Jungle" area. Looks like a massive amount of work is being done at Chessie, good to see - maybe Thorpe will see the same for 2024 and Exodus vs 2023 and Jumanji - the work on Swarm would suggest they are at least aware of the state of the place! -
Very true - 2022 season seemed pretty decent for downtime at Thorpe, other than Dezza Brown having lots of bits broken but that now makes sense with GHOST TRAIN coming. Like has been said before though, with all those ageing flats, it's a bit of a ticking time bomb. But at least they HAVE flat rides

Get Tidal new effect working Become a 2 day park Priorities m8.
-
Random thought - the concept art shows posters "giving a nod" (a phrase you may have not heard before) to other areas in the park - some past, some present - yet elsewhere it's been pointed out that tHe ISlAND LiKE nO OtHEr is no longer referring to areas by name/area any more signpost wise etc. Seems very Thorpe to me. In other news that shouldn't be in this thread but is, I see Containment shipping container is gone, and Depth Charge is getting a repaint - at least, the lower part of the tower. Impressive.

I see from the latest drone video thing on the Youtube that... Funk & Fly doesn't appear to be in place yet and maybe isn't coming back Enterprise is well and truly gone Sub Terra has a brand new queue line 😵 Also from the video - the Smiler track don't 'arf need a repaint now - it looks orange in parts....! Seems to have weathered far worse than SAW.
-
Yes but what does @JoshC. think? 🤔
-
Ideal space for dry docking The Thorpe Belle and bringing back Saw Alive all year round in a new location.

Tin shed station is looking very shed like from the recent Shane Sandwich update. Also they mention about lots of planting still to be done - I would bet money on the fact that Merlin don't buy in established trees/plants as per the photos and just hope they'll survive and grow! Mandrill Mayhem track and main theming statue looking gooood though. I do like that green a lot. Petition to make Exodus' track not black/brown/grey plz.

Mate, I basically posted on here that Derren Brown's Ghost Train was going to be related to trains before that was even known, and no-one batted an eye lid - that wasn't me being psychic that was me posting something because I knew it to be the case To prove your psychic abilities though, what date do you believe Ghost Train at Thorpe will open?

Nice concept art. But please... not the Victorian carriage. Son's crying now.
-
They meant over the year, the year being 2023.
-
You could be onto something there - and now consider me even more concerned. As ML27 points out - starting to paint outside now, when in theory that could have started in November? I mean, it's as if they had no idea what to do with it and it took them most of closed season to figure out....
-
Wonder if they'll include her disappearing and being replaced by "No signal" into the reimagining for real authenticity 😏
-
I can't fault your logic here, I have to say. Pleasantly surprised that Emily has become the main character - and quite intrigued as to what comes next!

How very dare you, this is the same park that installed and delivered the Tidal Wave flame effect 🧐

This. What an absolute waste if that is the case. I can't see how they will fit it in to the story otherwise, other than like I say, some sort of pre show with an actor along the lines of "We've had some strange reports in the station, people have been saying that an old floating Victorian train has been pulling up - I for one don't believe 'em me old cockney sparra knees up mother brown, oi oi, be lucky - and keep the secrets bruv!" One would assume they will paint the whole building and over the "Rail depot" sign. The building itself along with the train carriage, as previously said, has always been the most positive thing about the experience so if they manage to mess that up, that will be quite some achievement. Anyway, we're getting a cafe so shut up and be grateful xoxo EDIT: As an afterthought - would it be possible to just remove the hanging carriage in entirety as it's just a shell, so you step onto a tube train from the off? I guess it would? Again though - what a waste 😰
-
Aha, my time-travel theory may be right then - I'm not on that secret FB group thing as I don't have a MAP (I N S T A N T B A N). Like you say though - you can't hide that building... Makes me fear that they've done something to the hanging carriage now.

Trying with every fibre of my being to be positive here but even if that's undercoat etc., I really can't see how it's going to look decent when finished. Are they going for 1990s BR/Network South East style station colour scheme on the outside or something, and then "time travelling" somehow to the Victorian Train, then again to the tube train? That's the only thing I can think of for this look on the outside.

From the MAP group/Thorpe passholders 247 club group Myspace thing. Obviously still work in progress but what the.... 😶

Thorpe have just confirmed that a new coaster is coming on their socialz in case anyone didn't know. And also announcing, the thing that everyone wanted, Club 236. Nice and complicated for no real reason. Just enter everyone who visits with an annual pass, lads. Dome restaurant to be called Bar 236 this year, d'ya reckon? It's due a rebrand.

I'm interested for the upcoming behind the scenes stuff from JCK regarding DBGTROTD. Captured forever is the future of theme parks below - minus the new final effect they added one year after it opened, and with an empty room after the pre-show. Who remembers the not one - but two - photo points in the original queue, one of which you could never even buy anyway - the "head in a jar" photo ops. Nice idea, just never came to fruition - a bit like the ride as a whole to be honest...

Saw some updated photos of The Swarm station work yesterday going on, on some Facebook group I pretend I'm a member of, and, fair play - I mean yes, it's long overdue but at least they are doing it. It's looking fab, with the exception of the not-boxed in RSJs, naturally. The world's first horror themed picnic area will be ideal for food trucks/pop ups for events too, instead of fitting them in near the teacups.

They put the 16+ policy in place when the Black Friday tickets went on sale, but you'd have to have looked in the FAQs to see it - I think they'll be making people more aware of this as the months go on as a large number of teens visit. When we visited last year, we spotted a fair few youngsters recording on the Snapchap or for Tickeytocks - one run through on Coven was ruined because of it - so I wonder if this is partly why. Intrigued as to how this will affect the crowds this year, and general feel of the place. I would say I am for it...

Can I just lay all my negligible credibility on the line now and say Phantom Manor is still going to better.
