Nice concept art. But please... not the Victorian carriage. Son's crying now.
-
They meant over the year, the year being 2023.
-
You could be onto something there - and now consider me even more concerned. As ML27 points out - starting to paint outside now, when in theory that could have started in November? I mean, it's as if they had no idea what to do with it and it took them most of closed season to figure out....
-
Wonder if they'll include her disappearing and being replaced by "No signal" into the reimagining for real authenticity 😏
-
I can't fault your logic here, I have to say. Pleasantly surprised that Emily has become the main character - and quite intrigued as to what comes next!
-
How very dare you, this is the same park that installed and delivered the Tidal Wave flame effect 🧐

This. What an absolute waste if that is the case. I can't see how they will fit it in to the story otherwise, other than like I say, some sort of pre show with an actor along the lines of "We've had some strange reports in the station, people have been saying that an old floating Victorian train has been pulling up - I for one don't believe 'em me old cockney sparra knees up mother brown, oi oi, be lucky - and keep the secrets bruv!" One would assume they will paint the whole building and over the "Rail depot" sign. The building itself along with the train carriage, as previously said, has always been the most positive thing about the experience so if they manage to mess that up, that will be quite some achievement. Anyway, we're getting a cafe so shut up and be grateful xoxo EDIT: As an afterthought - would it be possible to just remove the hanging carriage in entirety as it's just a shell, so you step onto a tube train from the off? I guess it would? Again though - what a waste 😰

Aha, my time-travel theory may be right then - I'm not on that secret FB group thing as I don't have a MAP (I N S T A N T B A N). Like you say though - you can't hide that building... Makes me fear that they've done something to the hanging carriage now.

Trying with every fibre of my being to be positive here but even if that's undercoat etc., I really can't see how it's going to look decent when finished. Are they going for 1990s BR/Network South East style station colour scheme on the outside or something, and then "time travelling" somehow to the Victorian Train, then again to the tube train? That's the only thing I can think of for this look on the outside.

From the MAP group/Thorpe passholders 247 club group Myspace thing. Obviously still work in progress but what the.... 😶

Thorpe have just confirmed that a new coaster is coming on their socialz in case anyone didn't know. And also announcing, the thing that everyone wanted, Club 236. Nice and complicated for no real reason. Just enter everyone who visits with an annual pass, lads. Dome restaurant to be called Bar 236 this year, d'ya reckon? It's due a rebrand.

I'm interested for the upcoming behind the scenes stuff from JCK regarding DBGTROTD. Captured forever is the future of theme parks below - minus the new final effect they added one year after it opened, and with an empty room after the pre-show. Who remembers the not one - but two - photo points in the original queue, one of which you could never even buy anyway - the "head in a jar" photo ops. Nice idea, just never came to fruition - a bit like the ride as a whole to be honest...

Saw some updated photos of The Swarm station work yesterday going on, on some Facebook group I pretend I'm a member of, and, fair play - I mean yes, it's long overdue but at least they are doing it. It's looking fab, with the exception of the not-boxed in RSJs, naturally. The world's first horror themed picnic area will be ideal for food trucks/pop ups for events too, instead of fitting them in near the teacups.

They put the 16+ policy in place when the Black Friday tickets went on sale, but you'd have to have looked in the FAQs to see it - I think they'll be making people more aware of this as the months go on as a large number of teens visit. When we visited last year, we spotted a fair few youngsters recording on the Snapchap or for Tickeytocks - one run through on Coven was ruined because of it - so I wonder if this is partly why. Intrigued as to how this will affect the crowds this year, and general feel of the place. I would say I am for it...

Can I just lay all my negligible credibility on the line now and say Phantom Manor is still going to better.

Best food on park during Fright Nights was from the non-Aramark run smokehouse stand, without a shadow of a doubt. Says it all really.
-
We've got DRP booked at end of March - typically Big Thunder Mountain is going to be closed when we are there. Will probably do a Thorpe visit once GHOST TRAIN is open, and then the usual Fright Nights visit or two. Tulleys VIP is booked as it is every year. We've got a weekend in Copenhagen in the Summer so a visit to the Tivoli Gardens is on the cards. We normally do a trip to Towers with a few mates but can't see that happening this year without Nemesis and the fact I've got a fair bit of my annual leave booked already (got 9 nights in NYC at the start of July - no coastering over there, mind you - just eating and drinking is the plan!)

I did think that about the final farewell thing, but I think they are meaning that you are saying your final farewell before meeting your maker as such - I can't really see them spending money on a refurb/modification for an attraction for just a year... but maybe I'm wrong. Plus, I would imagine the next big investment is a little way off with Exodus in 2024... so maybe a couple of years of Ghost Train at least. But then, you have a whole friggin' island that they MADE behind Swarm, at a cost of thousands, just sitting there too!

The website has already updated - it's now called "Ghost Train" https://www.thorpepark.com/explore/theme-park/rides/ghost-train-ride/ "Depart the mortal world on a one-way ticket beyond the veil into darkness on THORPE PARK Resort’s newest ride experience – Ghost Train. But watch your tracks, death is always one stop ahead. This next generation of Ghost Train will take you on a harrowing ride into the realms beneath THORPE PARK Resort to where the supernatural believers call home. Ghost Train is one of the UK’s longest ride experiences featuring live actors and multisensory effects to create a terrifying attraction like no other! There’s nothing virtual about this petrifying experience, so prepare to meet your maker as you come face-to-face with horrors that dwell within."

Ooooh! Where is this from?

Has anyone actually ever questioned their own perceptions and memories after riding DBGT?
-
I thought this was a weird flex - having a video scheduled just to prove the fact that you knew they were making this announcement... bitter much? 😆
-
I predict - no more VR, no more Derren... and I'm going for some sort of year-round horror type attraction, because those have definitely worked brilliantly before. Wouldn't surprise me if they called it Thorpe Junction. Or are they going to stick in The Crows into the attraction, hence the crows flying over...?
