  1. It might be the case that the jobs open you need to be over 18 for, such as security or ride operators...
  2. There wasnt a park wide power failure, hence why you would have not noticed it. There was a surge which temporarily stopped a few of the rides. Nothing permanently lost power and the rides that did were only shut down for around 10-15 minutes while engineering restarted the rides. It only took that long because the rides went down simultaneously.
  3. It was a power failure. There a was a power surge which knocked out Rumba, Nemesis, Stealth, Depth Charge and Detonator. Loggers was already down when it the other rides failed. They would have been instructed to say it was another fault as they thought as soon as people heard power failure they would over react due to the chessington power cuts.
  4. They do all of the daily checks and tests and if they find any issues they wont green card the ride, so it cant open until it has the green card. That might mean more maintenance depending on the tests and checks
  5. Assesment centre's are held during the day usually, but what day will depend. There are usually one's during the week or at the weekend and then you can state which one you would be prefer to attend. It obviously differs at different points in the season though
  6. That lake is owned by the park. The lakes that can be seen from the second lift on Loggers are owned by Thorpe Water Ski. The park charges for people to be able to use it for jet skiing etc
  7. Its also caused problems at all of the UK merlin parks. The servers for Thorpe, Alton, Lego etc etc are all run directly through Chessignton, hence why there were no card machines at Thorpe (last weekend I believe) and also for a few hours today.
  8. One of the things I think needs to be remembed it that around that time a HUGE amount fo time and effort was still going into making sure Saw:The ride was ready to roll once the main season began. I know its not a particularly satisfying excuse but I would think it was a factor in the first couple of weeks. Next season there are no new rides opening and so the all of the maintenance that needs to be done on the rides over the winter will get the engineers full attention, instead of having to get to grips with a brand new ride.
  9. Front of house is playing actual music as opposed to the welcome music in the afternoons now to fit in with the Sun Scream event
  10. You cant buy fast track on entrance to the park. The only way you can is if you have a booking that includes fastrack, it is never sold from admissions
  11. I think they very well could be fatal. All you need to do is look at the damage caused when people get coins thrown at them (namely a scottish referee a couple of years ago who's head was split wide open from about 15 yards) to be able to see that something falling from 100ft would do a lot of damage.

    Jobs..

Admissions Team leader at Thorpe. Absolutely love it!!!
  13. Fair point, but for now at least there is the provision to get refreshments in the queueline. Granted, free water being available would be an obvious improvement, but supplying staff to do it would be seen as a waste by some people within Merlin/Thorpe itself, and with the amount of people who visit that are, if we're honest, extremely likely to vandalise something like a vending machine or water cooler, it would be most likely be vandalised very quickly, so also not making sense to Thorpe. Just my opinion on it
  14. This is a GOOD thing. Yes, granted it makes Thorpe more money, but when its hot would you rather them not be there or would you rather have the opportunity to buy a drink/ice cream/whatever? The placement of the sellers could be better, but the idea/logic behind it is solid.
  15. But then stealth has SRQ and fast track as well so that point isnt really a valid one imo. If that was the case, Stealth's SRG would also be removed and there is no sign of that happening
  16. The guy is an idiot. A few weeks ago another guest did the same thing, injured themselves on impact with the water which lead to another guest jumping in to help. It's wreckless and hugely dangerous due to the jet skiers, and cause a lot of problems for us as staff. Everyone stands and watches, which blocks the bridge, which causes crushing at turnstiles as too many people build up. F****** idiot (apologies for the language)
