  1. That wasn't the trailer. There was behind the scenes footage from the trailer of green screens and actors in motion-capture suits,. I think it's going to be a fun experience, but the website that leaked the details stated that its going to have an age restriction. Pretty sure that Thorpe decided they were a family friendly destination not too long ago?
  2. Project WC16 - New for 2016

The theming we originally saw in the plans was a disused Victorian warehouse, so there is hope we may not see that theme recycled.
  3. Project WC16 - New for 2016

Plenty of family attractions have an element of violence, nothing graphic obviously, but in Jack The Ripper there is potential to craft a perilous journey of some sort. Let's say they have selected a (family) IP, maybe Doctor Who, with the Doctor on a mission to prevent the Ripper murders from taking place then it can work for families, especially if the Ripper happens to be an alien. You can plonk this character in any situation in any major event in history and there can be a pretty good story in that, it's what the makers of that drama do an awful lot. Not that Doctor Who is going to be the theme of this ride, just giving an example of how to make a grim chapter in London's history accessible to a family audience, if that is what Thorpe is aiming for with this new ride. But having said that, I'm A Celeb does not scream family friendly yet the park opted for that this year and it seems to be successful among families. It can be done.
  4. London Dungeons

Isn't the 'Turning Room' the spinning tunnel? Because we did not pass through anything else that spun.
  5. London Dungeons

Well it was filmed in a studio but the sets resembled the theming in the Dungeon. One of the managers came out with his tablet when we were taking pictures of the exterior on Sunday, we were shown the advert and were asked to fill out a survey afterwards. I was with the owner of theme park guide and he has written a summary of the advert. http://www.themeparkguide.biz/news-page/19th-february-2013-exclusive-look-at-the-new-dungeons-advert
  6. Project RR - launching soon!

  7. London Dungeons

^ Thanks for the plug But they originated from this website. http://now-here-this.timeout.com/2013/02/19/in-pictures-london-dungeon/ It really is looking fantastic. After standing outside County Hall a couple of days ago, the dungeon does fit in so well with its new location. The atmosphere is great, the music was playing quite loud and resulted in a lot of interest from the crowds walking past. Having also seen the television advert, it was essentially an animation showing off the sets and characters. Extremis also appears at the end.
  8. Cedar Point

Cedar Point have released the official animated POV...looks amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9fLbdwq8_k
  9. The Swarm

We spotted the Studios North van behind the swarm, so I can only assume they are creating a new theming feature as there is no room on that island for another ride.
  10. Ride 15 - The Swarm

Voted excellent. The Swarm is the most beautiful coaster to open in the United Kingdom for a very long time, and what a ride she is!It is smooth, graceful, well themed and surprisingly forceful in parts. When all the effects are working it should be even better !:DThe ride's audio is great and I love the story! The island is quite immersive (although it could do with a bit more theming) and the station building is very well themed!Top class ride! Welcome back B&M!
  11. THE SWARM: In The Media

Glad to hear that John Murphy is the composer. His soundtracks for Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later are pretty good, they are very ambient tracks which is the sort of thing I've been expecting for Swarm.
  12. Roller Coaster XTREME

We are currently seeking a new team for the website and forum. Please PM me or email [email protected] website will be closing later this week whilst we design a NEW website! A host/server has been chosen along with the software. We will be using Wordpress. We are looking for people who can write news articles on the site and people who can help maintain the sitewww.rollercoasterxtreme.comMOD EDIT: Our greatest apologies - here now though!
  13. Roller Coaster XTREME

Hi all, haven't posted in here for a while/In order for Roller Coaster XTREME to truly stand out we will be focusing on theme park related media from now on which will include documentaries (short durations from five-ten minutes to begin with), podcasts, reviews, POV's, photography, general theme park videos, magazines and much more! We will stick by the projects we have been planning for a while which include the theme park education area and hopefully (I say this very often lol) that coaster comparison tool we've been wanting for so long, but we will be focusing mainly on the media side of things. In order for all this to happen we are recruiting for more team members at the moment since our team is not large enough. We have a recruitment video here and an application form here http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/0wSOub06d2The team has been split into two 'departments' (Media and Generic), the video explains it full (some of the transitions between each bit of text is too fast so please pause the video if you need more time to read various sections). If you join one department you will still be able to have a more generic role (all team members will be required to moderate on the forums). We would also like to know what you think of the change from a general theme park enthusiast site to a website completely dedicated to theme park related media. The first documentaries will be released in 2012 and we are hoping to get our standard (on line) magazines off the ground next year also... a premium magazine should also be released that year. The website will be undergoing maintenance to ensure we get it finished along with the media content so periods of shut-downs will be occurring as a result. To sum up what has been done already, we have created two new youtube channels (a POV channel and the official RCX channel). These have not been launched officially just yet but the link to the POV channel is below (it currently only has two rubbish off-ride videos but hopefully when I buy a better camera we should begin to film on-ride videos) http://www.youtube.com/user/RCXPOV. The park guides are currently being worked on, in 2012 each guide will receive its own documentary (or possibly several ). We are testing out some of our media stuff at the moment, more information on that shall be released some point in the near future You will begin to see the media content on-line in 2012, hopefully around April. The team would love to here your feedback about our plans along with what we have done already and what will need to be improved. Any criticism will be taken on board and brought up in the next team discussion. If you have any questions feel free to ask.In case you have forgotten the link, you can find us at www.rollercoasterxtreme.com
  14. Walt Disney World Resort

They have Hannukah lights.. Disney must be turning in his grave .Cute display though!
  15. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

Yeah true, was meant to be a jokey post really .In regards to the latest updates, I can't believe how gargantuan this thing looks even though it's only 27ft higher than SAW - The ride !
  16. Parks, Rides And Coaster News

Can you really judge two rides that haven't opened yet? It really doesn't look as though Dolly's wing coaster will be themed that well. I reckon Thorpe Park will come out on top with their wing coaster... but that's just my opinion .
  17. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

Oh dear god LOL!I hope the track is ok
  18. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

Can't believe how fast that went up!
  19. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

Here are a few of our pictures from todayMore here http://thorpeparklc12news.blogspot.com/2011/10/construction-update-11102011.html
  20. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

We have a construction update coming tonight so I will upload a few here. Must say, that zero g roll looks massive! Look forward to seeing more updates over the coming weeks.
  21. Laser effects in X no way out (or some other dark coaster)

That is a great idea, but I can't see it happening I'm afraid .
  22. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

Well according to Theme Park Guide supports and track will be erected this week and they will be testing The Swarm in January. So it's not like we have that long to wait until the swarm will be built, yes it is taking bloody ages to get the thing built but if track really is going up this week we should be more patient.
  23. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

It is grey.. just a darker shade
  24. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

That footer shell was not there when we we visited so it is nice to see work on the footers progressing. My god, The Swarm is gonna really tower over the fish !
  25. THE SWARM: Construction Updates

My friend happens to be a ride host at thorpe and helped us get permission from the operator. I took the shot whilst we were being lifted to the top so there was no need for the operator to hold us at the top. There is a strap attached to the camera so it was tied securely to my arm, perfectly safe. As mentioned earlier, track has technically started to go up. They have got the track into the maintenance building. We saw some supports on a truck on the construction site, so that is a sign that supports should be going up soon... unless hurricane Katia doesn't cause disruption to the construction of The Swarm.
