  1. This makes me annoyed. I will moan.
  2. How about I tell you that I was not actually suggesting that at all? Because I was not calling you a chav or anything like that, everybody seems to have completely misinterpreted it. It's like something from a sitcom. Now, does that change your opinion? Are you going to stop blaming the whole forum for being "unwelcoming" just because of one off-the-cuff comment that I posted now?Yeah, I am sorry that I seemed to offend you so much, since that clearly was not what I was trying to do when I debated your post. Like you said yourself, "life's too short to argue". Especially with words on a screen from the internet written by people you do not even know.
  3. Define "noobs" please? Just seems like a knee-jerk buzz word to use against people you don't like on the internet to me.And remember, it's only the internet!
  4. I do love it when the internet gets all serious and OTT over such pointless stuff!Anyway, suggestions, as the title states...Expand. I really think Thorpe Park should expand. Well they are going to expand massively soon anyway, which I look forward to. It should be interesting to see what they will do with new bits of world under their control. I hope it is more than the Saw island was, because, whilst the appearance suited Saw's theme alright, dust weeds and bricks looks quite horrible.
  5. Yes, in my opinion, you are wrong to think that theme parks are a place for just rides and not "farting around in a garden". But my opinion does not reflect the opinions of everybody else on Mania Hub, so don't go saying and speaking as if everybody is trying to hack you down when they are not. ("You guys" - is plural)To be honest, I don't really see the point of this conversation, because it is quite obvious that for a place to look appealing it should not just be all tarmac covered and plant-free. Why you have such a strong opinion against gardens I have no idea, especially since you seem to not understand what gardens are really all about anyway (judging from the "I could just go to a garden centre" comment). But, hey ho, not everybody is meant to like gardens. Not everybody has the same view on things, so who cares? It's called a forum, opinions are meant to be debated. Don't get all fussed about it. Shall we move on?
  6. I think it will be more towards the Saw/Thirteen style of theme work, for several reasons.Yes, Wild Asia was designed by Chessington under Merlin (I think), but it was actually built and brought to existence by an external company. Also, I think it was not the same team that did Saw and Thirteen (Candy Holland and co) that worked on Wild Asia, because it was not a major attraction. Candy Holland seems to be called by Merlin to do their big projects, such as Krake. Also, Wild Asia was able to have a big budget for theming, because there was no new coaster or other costly attraction. The money went on a Zamperla disc-o, fairly cheap, which left a lot for new theme work. According to this idea, Krake will not have as much emphasis on theming.Oh well. I am sure it will still be of a good enough standard. After all, whilst Thirteen lacks horribly in imagination in quite a few places, and Saw gets a bit thin now and then, they are both up to a "good enough" standard overall.
  7. Is it really that bad? ;)I've never really got the impression that TTF was a place of bickering, myself, but I can understand why you think that...
  8. That is like saying "If I want to eat food, I'll go to a tatty local fast food restaurant" or "If I want to watch a show, I'll go to a primary school play".Firstly, gardens are a heck of a lot more than "looking at plants" and good ones are in a totally different league to garden centres where you buy plants. They are all about the natural beauty, and amazing landscaping, maybe even artwork and sculpture. That is why some theme parks have them, because all good theme parks are about the experience.Secondly, it is all part of the package. If you "just want to ride rides" then go to a funfair or an amusement park. Theme parks are (meant to be) for all the experience, effects and entertainment, whether that means brilliant and thrilling rollercoasters or theatrical special effect shows and dark rides. So it isn't as "OMG Y WUD YOU WONT A GARDAN IN A TEME PARK!?!?" as you seem to think the case is. happy?Personally, I think a big garden would not suit Thorpe Park very well, though the existing one behind Stealth is alright as it is (if a bit oddly placed). However, yes, much better landscaping would really help take that unpleasant atmosphere of "land of tarmac" off the experience. It's horrible and a bit off putting really...
  9. Erm, not really, he was just being deliberately awkward and trollish, I think. There is no point going over what he said, it is clearly a load of rubbish.
  10. Erm, not really, he was just being deliberately awkward. He was a troll... Remember?
  11. Ah, right, now I get it, you are another troll. Haha, good one.Get out now please?
  12. If you think static duck props and a few slow-moving, single-movement animatronics left over from before are "spectacular effects", then I think you are the one on drugs... :rolleyes:I am afraid there are many things you said then that just make absolutely no sense. Are you being sarcastic or something? Seriously, what is your logic behind calling Bubbleworks "sensational and beautiful"?? :DMay I ask, have you ever been on dark rides outside the UK? And do you have a sexual attraction to ducks?
  13. I may be remembering badly, but I seem to remember a small, outwards pointing ridge up the back of the seat which is extremely uncomfortable. I am a tall person (well, certainly for my age anyway) so it is not as if my head is where most people's backs would be. I just remember always leaning forward to avoid both the horrid restraints and the horrid back of the seat. I admit I do not always analyse the trains whenever I ride (erm, Chessington is for fun, isn't it? ), so this ridge thing maybe a false memory or a memory from years ago when I was 8. So, erm, yeah, just ignore me...However, there is definitely absolutely no padding or comfort, just hard purple plastic. Which is hardly ergonomic...
  14. Is this the same Vampire we are talking about? :rolleyes:The restraints are awfully hard, uncomfortable and very restrictive. There is literally nowhere to put your hands without holding hands with the adjacent rider. That isn't always a good thing. Also, the back of the seat has no head rest! At all! Just hard, horrible plastic with a ridge in it (a ridge??? WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THAT?) and some... black dots. Very strange, and very badly designed. Oh well.
  15. Do people with fastracks get a red carpet and a personal butler to lower their restraint or something?Sounds like an awful rip off to me, but one that is going to make a hell of a lot of money.
  16. It's an amazing documentary isn't it? Had it for a while now, glad to see it has been released publicly so that everybody can see it. It is rather inspiring.
  17. This TTF member hardly ever goes on TTF and gave practically no information about it other than "footers are going in" and he "has photos". Not very reliable really at all and very unbelievable. I think I will ignore unless better information comes out....Carry on!
  18. Yes, good point. Although I would like to think Chessington gets a fairly big budget for theming and effects, it deserves it. Merlin is a pretty big company as well, surely they could pump a bit more in than they do? I think Chessington is best when every detail is cared for. Oh well, at least the place is miles better now than it had been.
  19. Yes, if Thorpe Park going to add two new large rollercoasters between 2012 and 2015, then one of them definitely needs to be a really fun, thrilling airtime machine. If 2012 does have a newish technology wingrider, that's great with inversions (used wisely though, not just a cram in of loops). However, in that case, for 2015 no more inversions, please.
  20. This year probably. Track will probably only go up towards the end of the year, though. Then the ride will be finished over the closed season.
  21. Not really. In my opinion, Nemesis does not have world class theming, and neither does Saw.What makes Nemesis so highly regarded is the fact that it has an intense, clever layout. The train does not start with a big drop from which the whole ride gains its speed, instead it gains its speed continuously throughout the whole ride, and keeps on accelerating until the stall turn near the end.It was also brand new technology at the time of planning and construction. The project had only started after a year or so since the first ever B&M invert had opened, so it was a machine totally alien to most theme parks in the world. For it to arrive in the UK before the rest of Europe was something special. The UK had only really been used to much less mean-looking and mean-riding coasters before that. Also, Nemesis was installed in a giant pit. The ground was level before the construction of Nemesis, so it had to be blasted out using dynamite. The huge crater in the ground then became the home of the rollercoaster, meaning the ride goes quite sharply towards the ground at points. There are many, many near-misses with rock faces, as well as the Nemesis eye when the train flies over the station. What's more, the ride is extremely fun and thrilling.Compare that to Saw's coaster section, which just performs a few flips and turns in one little area with no terrain interaction at all and very little thrill, and you can see which is the better coaster. Of course, everybody has their own opinions, but Nemesis is... well, obviously the better of the two.
  22. Are you immune to centrifugal force or something?

    SAW: Alive

    The floor does not move!?
  24. You say that "they made the effort", but that is a key part of a theme park anyway, to have good theming. It is like saying "Well at least the band made the effort to play music, even if it was poor". If you know what I mean. What's more, this looks to me as if this was just a little "idea" that somebody who works at the park came up with and decided to carry out (be that be a ride op or head of experience, it doesn't matter). As it clearly isn't meant to be a long term theming addition (will probably wear in the weather and last only one more year probably) nor is it a big budget improvement of the queueline experience. It seems to have just been a little idea, which, whilst nice to see Abdab again, does not really do much for Chessington's theming reputation. It's getting vandalised anyway now, so there would be no difference. Also, to a look at Frazzle the dragon currently outside Dragon's Fury. He has been at the park for more than 20 years now, and because he is set up correctly he doesn't seem to ever get any vandalism. Just pointing that out, because it proves that outdoor animatronics can work and look decent. However, I still think Abdab would be far too tricky to animate again, so they should just put him back in storage next year. Sorry! Good point! I seem to have a thing for photos of Abdab now and then.
