  1. That makes me sad that Towers got rid of the Nemesis and Oblivion themed rooms

    Music

Quite possibly the most dance-worthy song I've heard in a while... And it's the theme for Community <3
  3. Questionable as to how successful this would be with the target market (based upon Towers prices, depends if they do a Chessie and have an external company run it). Those old plans look fab though, love the old ideas a lot tbh. Just not sure whether there is a demand for a hotel for Thorpe (similar for Chessie and Lego tbh but Chessie's hasn't done TOO badly). Though I'm sure the Northern contingent won't be complaining.Give it one thing though, fab location on the waterside, could give off some great views of Swarm.
  4. Do people really go to Disney (and the other Orlando region parks) because of the shows? No, it's because of the exceptionally strong brand names that come with the Orlando experience. The UK people go for the parks, not for the shows, it is proven from our own parks that our major sit down for 20 minute shows are never that popular, so for the UK market ALONE shows are just not worthwhile. For Americans who like pomp and circumstance, and the Europeans who love a good sit down and to be enthralled by something, it works. Just not over here when not many of us might fancy a jaunt to Thorpe or Alton when it's 2 degree positive outside when we have a nice warm house with tea.
  5. One good cattlepen then, what about Tutuki Splash, the Log Flume, the Rapids? Not sure about this investment thing either, since I went in 2004 the park has seen 2 new major rides, and a Sesame Street area... Let's discount shows here, but since 2004 the UK parks have certainly added more rides (Thorpe, in the same period, have added two coasters, big flats, rebranded and are also on the verge of a brand new B&M), which on a basic level does mean that Tussauds and Merlin are more inclined towards investment no?Of course, this has mainly come about from having a very good original set-up, which is to be expected from those 3 groups, but it kinda shows that your arguement in that PA's owners have been investing more into the park is very skewed in the incorrect direction from a ride point of view...
  6. That's amazing and I want it for my 22nd birthday...
  7. Taken from the Blows it up topic... How can this park (if it's so AMAZING) only have an average attendance of 4200?Whilst I haven't been for years, I can't imagine it being the best park in Europe, and I also agree with everything Mark said... ESPECIALLY about Baco... That arguement cannot slide with any ride, a ride needs to be good in EVERY single seat, not just the 4th inside right hand seat at 12:02 when the temperature is 32 degrees... There MUST be a reason why Baco is one-of-a-kind for Intamin...10'000 is also a bit low... Considering how massive the park is... Maybe Shambalalalalaladingdong will get a few more thousand in, but for an average of 4200 which is probably what Chessie can boast, the park must not be doing everything right surely?Dunno, I should probably go back soon, but effort, cos it's in Spain and the queues there were absolutely VILE when I went last, with the general nice atmosphere of the park being balanced out by claustrophobic and dank cattlepen queuelines that would make even Rita's blush... Plus they got rid of Sea Odyssey...
  8. This, is an Oblivion update, the ride car which disappeared has still not materialised. Still, I'm sure it's around here somewhere. Just a case of looking for it.In fact, while you are waiting for your friends to reappear, why not relax with an ice cold Coke?Wish they'd bring that stuff back <3
  9. I don't think the logistics of having one exit for the complete mass of people would work though... At least the Colossus line has two exits and is an overall bigger area...
  10. Marketing speak is always making the ride itself look better than it actually is. And should never really have any attention paid towards it.Besides, it's only Baco. Not like they're ignoring a ride highly rated by everyone are they?EDIT - Though really, I don't see why things have to be the biggest or fastest, rides like Swarm which can be easily judged through visual senses and the like, don't need any extra advertising, whatever happened to the "build it and they will come" mentality? Are humans so fickle that any form of adding biggest/baddest in the north/south (this is more apparent in the US) that we lap it up, even though it's not factually true?Again, food for thought.

    Video Games.

Arkham City verdict?:wub:So cool. Though I think Asylum had a better atmosphere (more enclosed and claustrophobic) City has a more interesting underlying plot, and is a bigger and better sequel. Loving it.Next week is Skyward Sword though. Hmm, just in time for the main coursework load to appear.
  12. Efteling are quiet a silent little beggar at times...Amongst announcing a 17 million euro water show that will apparently be the 3rd biggest in the world (after Vegas and Dubai), they have also decided that for winter, 3D mapping will be used on the buildings of 3 of their rides, Spookslot, Flying Dutchman and Villa Volta... So first, some concept for the water show...And now for videos of the Dutchman and Volta buildings... Needless to say, this park looks bloody immense for this, and this is BEFORE the massive multi-million (40+!) dark ride and area for next year!

    Random

That awkward moment when someone you know randomly pops up in a Youtube video you're watching...
  14. Haven't posted in a while... Not posted any film reviews recently tbh, time to fix that with....Johnny English RebornYes I really had nothing better to do yesterday than go and see this as none of my mates were going to 5-a-side... So me and Nicky meandered over to the local Odeon and this was the only thing that interested me (The extra 150 loyalty cards points sparked interest)...I hadn't really wanted to see this film as (like Cats and Dogs) this was a rather weird sequel to have for a film that was mildly successful 10 years ago and can now be picked up for £3 in HMV, hardly the definite seller already towards me, however I went in with a relatively open mind to see how many Bond piss-takes I can handle in 110 minutes...The answer is, a lot... Whilst there were a few giggles here and there, it was a rather mish-mash of people, places and scenes... The rest was a rather turgid and bland affair which has been seen in many a movie before, I will give credit to Dominic West for his absolutely delicious scenery chewing turn as the bad guy, brilliant casting from the team on that perspective... And a great scene involving a trip to the hospital and the finale sequence were also pretty well done...Overall, it's turd really, and rather atypical of all sequels now being bigger, vaster, but by no means better (Especially with a lack of Ben Miller)...5/10But what else I have seen, well aside from the 10/10 beasts of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, another trip to cinema a few weeks back led to the brand spanking new...The Adventures of Tintin - The Secret of the UnicornNow I'll be honest, when I saw the first trailer for this, I was rather unsure as to the look of the film as it does look very weird when viewed on the internet... However, on the big screen it looks FANTASTIC (and that's just in 2D) and I think Speilberg and Jackson really captured a good essence of the original comics, with some good casting and voiceover work from the actors, it made it all rather believable...The film itself has a lovely script, and considering it was written by the 3 best British writers (Edgar Wright, Steven Moffat and Joe Cornish would you believe?) that isn't unsurprising, and it lends itself nicely to the typical Spielberg esque film, with some great set-pieces and character development interlinking nicely to generate a fast-flowing story that keeps the interest of the viewer both young and old alike...Plus I want a Snowy!9/10
  15. Because there are people (like myself) who won't notice these small differences between time frames. Don't forget there are a lot of non-enthusiasts following the page as well/At least they're providing us with on-site imagery. Better than none at all.
  16. Could be worse, could be the $15+ American parks charge. It's more the subject of upsetting the status quo with these, having something for free being taken away is something no-one likes. And considering we're only just now coming into it, when you look at our friends in Europe and America, well it was only a matter of time.
  17. Drayton have announced that they will be charging £2 for car parking during their Christmas Events. I'm assuming it'll continue through to the main season.
  18. You know what, I reckon this would have been so much better suited to the family audience it belongs to at Legoland Florida...Still don't know why Thorpe wanted it... Unless as a long term replacement for Depth Charge, but it still begs the question, "WHY?"...
  19. ^To be fair, looks are EVERYTHING on a ride, and Oblivion is in a right old state atm, both the track and cars are in a desperate need of repainting, made clear by the redone train this year, which looked tonnes better than the rest...
  20. I do wonder how intense the ride actually will be. Considering the difference between Air and Tatsu, it could be something like that. But on the other hand, the seating will provide a much different layer/direction of stress and strain in both the track and train, so I'm holding my breath until I think it will be as intense as say, Nemesis. I sense the Wing-Riders could well ride very similarly to each other in a sense, without a huge amount of forces in any direction.
  21. More pictures can be found HERE! Including the beginning of the interaction with Atlantica Supersplash...
  22. A mod should probably be doing this, but I'm up and bored so...We've derailed the topic enough, someone was good enough to open a topic for the Inferno discussion HERE. Let's leave this for some good old fashioned question time. For example, THAT Dive Loop, who designed it?
  23. Dev diary says it's all complete for the inclined loop. Good to see one over here considering how rare they are in general.
