You would think Thorpe Park would have learn't their lesson now by over hyping things. Re mega flop over hyped Derren Brown Ghost Train, they simply have not learnt. I will be avoiding Fright Nights like the plaque this year its way past its glory days. Ok you don't have to watch it but all spoilers of the mazes by the vloggers from preview nights save me from a visit now and the hassle of getting out of the place after. Thanks Thorpe for that.

Totally agree on wasting money on it. Merlin / Thorpe are so keen on cutbacks and saving money just get rid of it.
-
A complete revamp. Bring in someone with fresh ideas, money should be spent on the maze itself and not ip. Quality over quantity. Better organisation, maybe a rethink on the maze queue system. Close Derren Brown Ghost Train for good and create a haunted station themed maze. ? No more pound land theming and less of these !!!!

Hit the nail on the head. Everyone else is blamed but themselves. They never learn if I recall there were major issues last year too.
-
Thorpe Park so deserve the bashing they are getting on Facebook and Twitter tonight. They have delivered such a poor quality, badly managed Fright Nights this year. The park is a laughing stock,, really do feel for those poor people that are there tonight and the last few days.
-
It's really is quite sad to see how the quality of Fright Nights has dropped this year. In fact its not just Fright Nights its the whole running of the park. They seriously need a complete refresh at present its seems the social media wannabees are running the place.
-
Give it a year or so then Ghost Train will be added to the list. I really have zero interest in the year of walking dead malarkey.

Derren Brown Ghost Train must go down as one of the most expensive flops in UK theme park history.

What an absolute joke Thorpe Park have become. One bad decision after another with their new investments. The place is a total dump and this new run down addition just tops it off. The amount of money they waste on rubbish temporary attractions like this could have been used to tidy up the decaying park. Thinking back through the years when there was Colossus > Nemesis Inferno > Samurai > Slammer and Rush > Stealth > Saw. They were really heading somewhere and now look. I blame too many young inexperienced managers. Pathetic Thorpe Park !
-
When will the learn. There just seems to be zero direction with this place.
-
Another ridiculous idea from Thorpe Park. What really annoys me they can find money for short term junk like this but cannot maintain their current attractions. Proves they take no notice of any feedback. Only have to look at the reviews on TripAdvisor It seems these young inexperienced staff running Thorpe Park are clueless. Sure they will blame someone else though when it fails. Seems Thorpe is on a downward spiral. Flop after flop.

Really what removed ?

Think the main issue with the attraction was / is the over use of VR. If I recall in the very early promo days it was supposed to only have a small segment of VR. Sadly I still hate this ride even with the update. What could have of become with a budget of that level. One thing I really hope Merlin would learn from this is to actual deliver something fantastic if they are going to over hype it. So did this bring in less for the park than The Swarm ?

Roughest Ride and along with Nemesis Inferno in a shocking condition. Look at this photo from TripAdvisor The State of Colossus at Thorpe Park

There seems to be many comments on social media and Trip adviser how run down Thorpe Park is looking this year. Loggers is still clearly visible to park guests and it really does not paint a pretty picture of the place. Merlin's lack of maintenance to its rides is pretty bad and if this is what its like on the public side its pretty concerning what its like behind the scenes. Give it a few years and Thorpe could be become the new Camelot.
-
Exactly. This money should have been used to spruce up the place in general. It just shows really really bad management and zero sense of direction. I simply cannot believe they do not learn from past mistakes, totally shambolic !
-
I don't think anything can salvage this attraction. Was totally disappointed in it first time around. And now the video oh dear think this is going to be a repeat of 2016 build up for nothing.
-
Exactly and so true. Money is wasted on so many unnecessary things. Its seem now that even the general public are starting to notice the poor up keep of the place. A lick of paint can do so much. Really hope there is some decent tlc given around the place as it currently looks so run down. Dread to think what it is like behind the scenes. Sadly I think Loggers has had its day and they could just do the good thing and remove it.
-
Have to agree. Such a disappointment of a ride, best thing about it is the shop. Once again over hyped by Merlin. Think I would have preferred a classic old fashioned ghost train rather than the VR. Give me Hex any day over this.
-
Not far from me Not much down here in Devon but Torquay Model Village have a Halloween Event OK its not a big scale event but is worth checking out and is nicely lite up at night. http://www.model-village.co.uk/halloween

Agree boths mazes are appalling. The Haunted Hollows were awesome. Howl o ween last year was the worst Halloween event Chessington has put on in their history. When you look back at what this park once did at Halloween its sad to see its sorry state now. I have not returned to Chessington since.
-
Sorry but I actually prefer Hex. I was so looking forward to this but after a few rides I still feel it just has not got that wow factor and comes across as a jumbled mess. I still feel there is way too much VR. I actually quite like the live action bit, lots of smoke and worked quite well. The audio is appalling throughout and you could hardly hear what was going on. Thorpe has an amazing ride soundtrack, now if that was pumping out with major bass in the train itself not headsets it would add to the experience. Both times many people said it was not worth the wait.

That's the issue having spent huge amounts of money but can't be bothered to do a complete job (Merlin all around) It's like decorating a room and leaving one wall. Really cannot see it would have cost that much extra to put some of those false brick panels or get artists in to paint it to blend in with the rest of the building.

Totally agree. Really wish I did not bother visiting Chessington's Howloween this year a waste of an evening. In 2014 I rated Howloween as one of my favourite Halloween events of the Merlin group. Yes Rameses Revenge with the lasers, smoke machine and audio created a great atmosphere. Park lighting was not as good this year but Kobra was a little better. Definitely something missing without the show and did not see any characters around the park at all. With numerous closed rides I think Howloween was a very very poor show this year from Chessington. Budget cuts or not why remove some of the best features from the event. Sorry but The Towers topped Halloween events for me this year !
