  1. Fantastic rides, I love them! The speed they reach towards the end of the cycle doesn't half have a kick to it, very unique experience & as Pluk said, it's a shame our parks don't have more unique thrill rides like this (they have good capacity too, 36), if one were to ever be themed I'm sure it'd complement X-Sector well with an industrial look. I'm quite happy with the ones on our fair circuit at the mo though, they're all brilliant.

Brilliant. Going though whiny ticket barriers will never be the same again.
  3. Fab day..! Was brilliant to see everyone again and try out some new attractions, I really enjoyed the new London Dungeons! (Still don't think it's totally the same without hearing the trains going overhead like at London Bridge!) ALSO, we all have a few entertaining group photo's which I'm sure will be shared over the coming days haha. Meal at Nando's was nice, as was secret Santa! Definitely something that should continue at future Christmas meets in my opinion. Winter Wonderland ending the day was magical as ever... Though it's a bit of a shame that Gladiator was playing up, had quite a few problems with it tonight, and of the 5 times I've been on it, today's ride was the shortest & least diverse in terms of ride movement I've had. Still, the atmosphere at WW is just fantastic to be in, and if I could drink, I would spend all day in the wonderfully loud carousel bar if I had the chance, Lol! In regards of busyness... We walked straight into all of the attractions except for a lil 5 min dungeon inside queue. Winter Wonderland we walked straight into.. Shocker! Thanks to Peaj for organising this & thank you to everyone else for making it a memorable day. See you all soon, Merry Christmas and here's to an exciting new year!

    Music

Loving the fresh 'Melbourne Sound' sub-genre of Electronic Dance Music right now. Super funky sound which I just don't get bored of! & I guess the first track below is the anthem to 'Ja'mie King: Private School Girl'
  5. The event is fantastic this year, really really impressed me. Highly recommend everyone tries out the Mondial Turbine 'Gladiator' there, over 200ft tall & travelling at a top speed of 110kph it's something which really draws in the crowds. Priced at £8. The view the ride offers over London is outstanding, particularly when the ride stops you at the top rotating whilst the other gondola is loaded. Rode it twice today and both rides were really quite different to each other, yet still extremely good.
  6. I'm a yes for whenever, though the 21st does look the best date right before xmas! Looking forward to it!
  7. What a fantastic day! Had a really good time at this meet! Unfortunately I could only attend for the Saturday but I hope you all have a fab time tomorrow too. Waterpark was great, so much fun and something I'd recommend to everyone! Nice to meet new people too! Thanks to Peaj for organising and running yet another brilliant event..!
  8. Woohoo I can attend. Though I'll give the maze tour a miss as it's not my thing either. Anyone in The Curse with me last year (my first and last ever maze, unless it's at Universal) will know me and them do not go well together. Lol. See you all there
  9. Some sad news from Drayton Manor today: Source: Drayton Manor Facebook page.

    Oakwood

Glad to hear more positive views from others on Oakwood, after my visit in April I can safely say they have the best UK wooden coaster as well as the best Gerstlauer in this country, yes!! that airtime hill and that helix! Not to mention the rest of the ride which is also fantastic. It's a really great little park! =) PS. Speed's airtime hill & the airtime off Saw's MCBR is the reason I think Gerstlauer could win-over Intamin in terms of creating a hypercoaster with ridiculous amounts of ejector air... I can only wish that one day it will happen.. Lol.

  13. Well today in my AS I got: Travel & Tourism - C ICT - D Business Studies - E Economics - U. Bear in mind I only got mostly C's & a few B's at GCSE. I'm into A2 but that also means I am being forced to do ICT again which I hate... Love Travel and don't mind Business. Would have loved to have done Economics as at A2 you do Transport Economics, which I had already started and was doing quite well in (I am a total transport nerd and loved it) but because I couldn't do the general economy units at AS well, I now can't do Transport economics! damn! But if I get 200 UCAS points by the end of this, and I can get into Uni to study Travel & Tourism and I am finished with it after 4 years by 2018... Crossrail opens late 2018 and hundreds to thousands of TfL jobs & graduate places become available in late 2018 when I would be finished with Uni. 2019 and it would be not so easy to get something in that sector of work which I have a lot of passion for. That's all that matters to me really! Got another meeting tomorrow with my tutor to confirm how I want to go forward with next year.
  14. I will be attending, Saturday only though and I can do the water park!
  15. Banned for no longer having 'tea' in his name!
  16. Yeah you summed it up really, it's mainly focused on the bars and shows with a few stalls and the Starflyer on the side. There was a spinning wild mouse coaster there last year but that hasn't returned this time. The tourists seem to love it and it can get rather busy around there! And ta James - I guess that's just inflation
  17. Was planning on putting this in the 'Parks / rides / news' topic but then realised it's locked So here's a new topic... The 226ft Mellors Starflyer has returned to the South Bank as of today and will be residing there until 29th September as part of the Wonderground. So if you're around the area pop on for a ride! The spinning mouse coaster has not returned for this year. Starflyer was priced at £7 last year though I am unsure of prices this year. Never have I seen it less than £6 at other locations.

Don't know if it's been annoying anyone else... But the way Google Maps now doesn't show public transit / train / tube stations until you reach full map zoom is so annoying! Now it's considerably harder to plan routes quickly if you're off somewhere new...
  20. Well I'm home now as I'm 17 so no MoS for me! Would have loved to have gone though. The day meet was a great success, was great to meet some new members as well as see some members who I hadn't seen in a while! Perfect weather for a good amount of riding the water rides / spending time at the Tidal Wave splash area. Thanks to Peaj & everyone else for helping make it such an enjoyable day with great people! PS: The group photo could be rather entertaining (I think I looked like a drowned rat ahahah), it was taken after Rumba where we happened to be selectively chosen to be soaked by that massive hose jet by the turntable at the start of the ride...
  21. I thought there was a Brean topic, but can't seem to find one so thought I'd make one! The ex-Hastings "Speed Wave" Mondial Top Scan is open at the park until September. Unknown if it will return to Hastings, or go travelling again after it's temporary stay at Brean. The ride is still owned by the Hastings owners but is on loan to Brean.

^ Hmm well I am visiting both and I suppose by the end of visiting I will know which one I prefer. UWL, I wasn't expecting so much from, but on the inside it is really modern, fresh, and the accommodation was new 2006 (as far as I know). On the outside it didn't seem so exciting to me but it made me think of the whole 'don't judge a book by it's cover' sort of thing! It's also got a new Student Union building under construction opening September this year, by what I've read it's improved a lot over the past 3/4 years and since it was re-named. Also I've known the area of Ealing for quite a while, and I like it there. Much nicer than Southall and some other outer-London suburbs anyway! I would certainly be happy studying there if I did choose it!

Oooh great topic! As I'm 17, I am currently in the process of doing my personal statement ready to apply on UCAS. Hoping to study Travel & Tourism management BSc for 4 years (2 years study followed by a 1-year work placement and 1 year after that back at Uni). Have looked at the University of West London and De Montfort University (Leicester) so far, Leicester was with Sixth Form & they don't really do any courses I like, but nice campus Uni! Would much prefer to be in a city Uni though. Really, really like UWL which is in Ealing & has two main sites. Also considering Aston (Birmingham) as my 'overly ambitious' slot... A slightly different course though more focused on Transport & Transport of goods, with a higher grade of entry... In need of 260 UCAS points according to UCAS but the Uni did say it was a little lower than that. Think I can get 260 if I try well enough though! Would be very happy if I get that course as it revolves around everything that interests me! Visiting new places... Randomly going off travelling to new places in the UK if something comes up to do... Visitor attractions... Transportation methods, railways etc. Perfect for me! Got work experience just finished this week at Chiltern Railways so that's another thing to help me on my way with things, absolutely loved working for them, great company, and a great industry to be in as well. Everyone has to get along in order to make sure things run as smoothly as possible, which for me makes it a great working environment, it's quite fast paced at times and because of this can have quite a buzz about it! And hopefully after Uni I'll manage to get into a job on the railways! Hopefully staying in London then too... *hopes student finance & UCAS all goes well and stress-free for me... And everyone else for that matter.*
  24. I fully agree that this would be the best ERT ever! Maybe if this were to ever happen there would have to be a special car for us loony ones who wish to stay on for all possible rides available.
