I mean I'll miss hearing it in the ride, it was such a fantastic idea to add a "disco version" of the Thorpe theme to X, a shame to see it removed already.

It is classed as an inversion, albeit very brief. Another image has been posted online today by Amanda Thompson on Twitter; https://twitter.com/MandsThompson The presence this thing has in the area is insane, looks so good!

BPB posted a (not quite) 360 degree image of Icon today, here's a few screenshots; Source: https://www.facebook.com/blackpoolpleasurebeach/ Also there's an article with a few more photos here; https://bdaily.co.uk/articles/2017/12/14/take-a-look-at-blackpool-pleasure-beach-s-new-16-25m-rollercoaster It's crazy how they've had to build the support structure for the Immelman!

I quite like some of Thorpe's new audio for this year, especially the recurring motif which I think works well in the environment. The issue I have is when existing park music is unnecessarily replaced with very similar sounding music, I don't see why every piece of music in the park needs to be copied and pasted by IMAScore as it defeats the point of having very different sounds and sights throughout the park. It's also a shame when the chilled out "island" theme they're going for is undermined by having every ride themed to an abandoned warehouse - I'll miss the music they added to X for this year! Personally I have no issue with parks selling copies of their audio, as long as they continue writing/purchasing it with the area of the park in mind rather than how it will sound on a CD.

Merlin once again demonstrating how they are ahead of the game, it's not like a family owned park has had a Peppa Pig Land since 2011 or anything...

Pleasure Beach have posted some fantastic pictures of the immelman through various stages of construction, it looks amazing! https://www.facebook.com/blackpoolpleasurebeach/

Rage is fine in fairness, and I quite like Speed despite the terrible condition of the ride hardware.

Wow, this coaster looks absolutely insane. In a good way.

Icon photo update from BPB; More photos here; https://www.facebook.com/blackpoolpleasurebeach/ Have to say it's looking great - almost surreal to see such a brand new looking coaster next to a 94 year old wooden coaster, and the high-five interaction looks superb! Only thing I'm unsure on is the station, Pleasure Beach have a tradition of building unusual or iconic ride stations, but this literally looks like a box at the moment - I'll reserve full judgement until it's finished though.

Looks great... what happened?

If the Thorpe Breaks website is accurate then there's some good news for 2018, 10pm closes during the summer! https://www.thorpebreaks.co.uk/opening-times.html

Probably getting a horror IP retheme. Either that or it'll be closed for a redevelopment. Either way I'm sure it will make a splash back soon.

Ridiculous and bizarre decision, Thorpe is marketed as "an island like no other" but all they do is add depressing and dull horror themes with barbed wire to (almost) everything. X was perfect for families, and following the small refresh this year was exactly the fun, enjoyable attraction that it should be. Thorpe are making a lot of strange decisions at the moment but this just takes the biscuit, first they add angry birds land, install an interactive maze for families, shoehorn in two family flats yet now they're taking a coaster designed for families and alienating them by giving it a horror theme?! Literally makes no sense, especially considering they purchased new trains back in 2013 so the height restriction could be lowered to 1 metre - so families could ride it!! Pathetic use of money and resources for a park which needs so many sensible improvements to be made.

Photo update from BPB today... just wow. https://www.facebook.com/blackpoolpleasurebeach/ After seeing how it looks in the area and with the other rides as a backdrop, I've warmed to the colour scheme - I think it looks very sleek and modern, and works very well with the other coasters as a backdrop. Bring on 2018!

Most likely a sensor issue with the door, I know they removed most of the shields from the boats (supposedly they were trip hazards()) which has caused havoc with some of the sensors and I guess may be the reason for several of the doors seperating the scenes having been completely removed. The trommels were working at various points up until mid-2016, however were often in near-total darkness - you could only see them moving if you looked out for them! I agree regarding the Odin effect, it was a theatrical masterpiece when it worked properly. They definitely are, I think the future is very bright for BPB and we can expect a lot of exciting things over the coming years.

It's just bizarre, X is a family coaster by definition and putting a horror theme on it would make no sense whatsoever.

This quote from the above article sums up the current situation with Merlin for me;
