  1. We've lost too many good or unique rides in the past few years
  2. Strange decision to budget for a horror maze in the summer when the park infrastructure (and ride availability in some cases) is still in dire need of attention. Also, DBGT is only in its third season but already put back to 12 noon opening? This is the same ride which was marketed as "the future of theme parks", right?
  3. I... I have no words. What a truly atrocious theme park operator Merlin are. Like, they're opening a new coaster next year for Christ sake. TWO HOURS LATE FOR THE BEST AND MOST RELIABLE RIDE AT THE PARK?!! WHO MAKES THESE DECISIONS!? The layout of the park makes staggered openings even more of a burden. Wicker Man will have insane queues early on as it's one of the only rides open! Since when were rapids seasonal, yet other parks operate water rides in February?! It's the only water ride at Alton Towers! (Okay, I lied. I have some words)

    Nemesis

The only real issue I have with Duel is how the scenes are presented currently - it still has the potential to be a brilliant dark ride if the right improvements were made. (And of course the laser guns - get rid!)
  5. The issue with rebuilding Wild Mouse as a steel coaster is that it would never be as good as the original. The unrestricted airtime, out-of-control corners and general raucousness of Blackpool's are not even comparable on a steel mouse. In addition, there are hundreds of steel mouse coasters across the world whereas BPB's was one-of-a-kind. If it were possible to rebuild the ride to the same design as a wooden coaster, but to satisfy modern H&S standards, I'd be much more welcoming of that. I still stand by the opinion that Blackpool are losing what sets them apart from other parks by demolishing the older rides.
  6. Looks good, it's just such a shame they had to ruin it with the terrible way they went about demolishing Wild Mouse. My (limited) enthusiasm is purely for the coaster itself now, not BPB as a park/organisation.
  7. After listening to the CD my opinion remains the same, the new motif is great and works well, but in the cases where the old ride themes have been "copied and pasted" the IMAScore versions don't have a patch on the originals. I hope Inferno's theme stays as the original, it's brilliant!

    Wicker Man

Strange decision, especially considering The welcoming was terrible! I still don't understand why they removed Courtyard BBQ, it was the best place to eat at Alton IMO.
  9. Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but given the choice I would rather still have Wild Mouse and no Icon.
  10. See, I assumed it wasn't at the time, until I found it on RCDB! Oakwood's is different though as it runs on a trough rather than a track.
  11. My rarest credit is probably the Rittisberg Coaster in Austria; It was also my 100th coaster! https://rcdb.com/13066.htm
  12. We wait 20+ years for a new wooden coaster, then the year the UK finally builds one, another one gets torn down. RANT!
  13. This photo was posted in a BPB History Facebook group earlier today; * Image does NOT belong to me Absolutely horrendous
  14. I found Living Nightmare to be well themed but dull and uneventful compared to the likes of Cabin, Asylum & E10, which were much more entertaining (IMO) despite not having the same level of theming.
  15. The lack of care for what BPB stands stood for was already becoming more and more apparent last year. World class dark rides left to rot, terrible presentation of rides, stations & facades, rides running on low(er than usual) capacity on a more regular basis, closing the park early whenever they feel like it. Where's the pride gone? Where's the sense of fun, happiness and enjoyment that BPB used to be famed for? The park has become a bland, corporate entity and this is epitomised in the corporate "it's progress" statement which was released by them on Saturday. As someone who has been avid fan of Blackpool Pleasure Beach for as long as I can remember, I don't think I will ever forgive them for demolishing the Wild Mouse. The act of destroying a national treasure is a disgrace and the lack of communication, lies (maintenance?!) and subsequent faceless response is an absolute insult. Wild Mouse was a heritage ride which has brought happiness & laughter as well as holding special memories for so many generations of people, who deserved better than seeing it demolished without any farewell event, or even a proper, human statement made. I fully understand and support theme parks moving with the times; additions such as Nickelodeon Land, Skyforce and now Icon have shown that Pleasure Beach can keep up, and as a family park, an investment like Icon is quite something. With that said, this pales into insignificance when they remove one of the world's most unique and historic roller coasters. New developments are great, but ultimately there are plenty of launched coasters out there in the world - whereas Wild Mouse was truly one of a kind. It was rides like Mouse which made the Pleasure Beach stand about above other parks; any park (within their constraints of course) can build a new coaster, but no other park could claim to have a working collection of rides from across the last 120 years. They have ripped the heart out of BPB.

    Wicker Man

Ridiculous world first claim aside, I'm really looking forward to Wicker Man. Also, those visuals are amazing!
  17. I completely agree, in addition the Wild Mouse took up the smallest amount of space of probably any thrill coaster anywhere! It's a terrible excuse and really has shown the park in a different light to me.
  18. Wild Mouse is a huge loss to the industry, and I'm absolutely gutted to see it go. Whilst new developments are great, Wild Mouse was truly a one of a kind ride, that can never be recreated in the future. Pleasure Beach have lost a huge part of what made the park so special, and no modern ride can ever replace that. On a personal level, the Mouse has provided me with many years of fun & laughter and was without question one of my favourite ever coasters; I've never known a ride with such incredibly unrestricted airtime, especially that last drop - brilliant! One thing I feel is important to mention. Pleasure Beach spent a lot of money on Wild Mouse last year with the installation of the new magnetic brake system, new evacuation walkways, and endless re-tracks/wood replacements throughout the season. It clearly was not their intention, at that time, to remove Wild Mouse in the near future. With that said, I do not abide with the terrible way the park have handled the closure and demolition of a much-loved ride which holds memories for so many people, it's nothing short of a disgrace the way the ride has been unceremoniously torn down with no initial statement made to appease long standing fans of the ride or the park. In addition, the statement the park have hurriedly released today doesn't even care to mention what a fantastic coaster it was, the history behind it or the legacy it left. It's like they couldn't wait to be rid of it, and really stinks of a park that couldn't care less.
  19. I would imagine it's some kind of flooring to go in the area Mouse was in.
  20. Wild Mouse will not be returning anywhere, there is nothing left of the ride.
  21. I can't express how upset I am, Wild Mouse was an absolutely incredible coaster, completely unique and a credit to the UK industry. It also means that; Pleasure Beach lose their title of the most wooden coasters in the world Pleasure Beach no longer have the most roller coasters in the UK Picture source: https://www.facebook.com/Themeparklogic/ In addition, I am extremely disappointed by the way Pleasure Beach have handled the closure. In my opinion, an announcement should have been made after it was demolished, it's much worse that this has come from people finding out in other ways rather than the park officially announcing it. Shows that they don't care
  22. I'm very sorry and absolutely distraught to have to say that the Wild Mouse has been demolished. 1958 - 2017

    Doctor Who

I liked The End of Time, whilst there were a few bizarrely OTT moments (the master flying?!) I'm prepared to see past these as I felt the overall story was entertaining, struck the right chord with the regeneration, actual proper humour (not to serve a purpose like the current episodes) and the acting from both Tennant and Cribbins was sublime. I'd much rather have a few annoyances with an episode rather than what we have now, there was so much more going on in the episodes back then compared to nowadays, something which was evident more than ever in this year's Christmas special. Personally speaking I think DW stopped being fun to watch after series 5.
