I other news on this, I've won tickets to the opening event! Woo-hoo! Win your own here

Really?! I had no idea at all, I'm sure I'd have remembered I'd actually heard about it. Maybe I'm a witch or something.

My little toenail is tiny, grows vertically from my toe and falls of quite regularly. Minging trufact. I had a dream Jimmy Carr died the other day, remember nothing more than that. No idea where that came from!

I hope they don't smooth out all of that lovely lovely rough. I might be in the minority but one of my favourites is Ghost Rider.

I used to go to the tropicana on family holidays as a kid many many years ago. Was a fun little place, sliding out if a massive plastic pineapple. Would quite like to go to see this mostly to see if I recognise anything of what it once was.

07.50 - Oh how I miss that flick coming out of the tunnel on the original trains. It was a completely different ride really, far superior to what we're left with. EDIT 11.08, now I've got got the Bubleworks finale light show, and I actually find it quite upsetting to watch. See that wonder on the kids face as the water freezes over her head? You don't see that on there any more. How could it be allowed to fall so far?
-
Well in one form or another that is what they are installing, so fingers crossed all round!
-
Looking at the building maybe that could work; two tunnels, one for each direction in time to get you out there and back.

Which all goes to show there is no God. If He was throwing bolts around with purpose Storm Surge and the car park barriers would be struck daily. And he'd have launched a meteor at Chessington to put it out of its misery years ago.

Du du du dum, du du du dum, du du du dum, dum dum. Du du du dum, du du du dum, du du du dum. Wooohoooo oooh, oooh oooh oooh. Etc etc...

It's not what I think it is, or want it to be, but similar in tone to that Lionsgate IP that everyone was obsessed with it being a while back... Don't think the Minds Wanted stuff fits though. A google search for visually similar images all relate to film, strangely

I'd be amazed if they hadn't, and if they were struck there'd be no issue with it. You can't build a massive metal thing without lightning hitting it occasionally.
-
If that's the case, they should just be honest and say that then!
-
Hardly sounds like an improvement so does sound rather like somethings gone wrong and they can't be arsed to fix it, and use 'feedback' as an excuse instead of just being honest.

When your flip-flop delaminates halfway home.

Still my favorite ever TPM member

Would be better if they were making Pocahonras land tbh. That 20 year old film has more relevance today and than Avatar. If we're having a crap film off I'd rather watch Donkypunch again.

Absolutely serious. It was a big film 6 years ago, mostly because it looked pretty. Who has watched it since? Who has ever thought, 'you know what, get the popcorn out, lets put Avatar on tonight'? No one. Because under all the 3D shiny shiny that already looks quite dated it was a god awful film devoid of any originality, had a plot written by a 5 year old, and no character development or reason to care. Without using IMDB, tell me what were any of the characters names and if you are supposed to be pleased or upset if they're crushed under a tonne of unobtainium? Who going to be flying halfway around the world to have their photo taken with 'unusual blue thing 1' and 'unusual blue thing 2'? As an attraction I'm sure it will look fantastic, but I'm also sure it will have no soul. Much like the film. Also like the film I doubt people will care a very short time after opening, and Disney will be wondering why on earth they saddled half a billion dollars worth of impressiveness with the dead weight of this IP hanging from it.

This doesn't need to get into pedantry, but it was calling him an idiot you seemed to have a problem with (by seemed to be, I mean that's exactly what you said) and unless I've missed something no one has said anything crass like your example. So I'm not sure what you are saying really. Anyway... In a sensible move, the ride has reopened today presumably with no changes deemed necessary and with no reported sightings of Kay Burley.
-
It's unfortunate he's dead, but I'll quite happily call him an idiot. A selfish one too. He's put himself in lethal danger, on top of that he's endangered those on the ride, those that had to rescue him from the location, he's probably left deep scars on those who saw it happen first hand and those who had to come to his aide and physically pick up the pieces from the public, the staff and the emergency services, and no doubt he has devastated his own family too. And then there's the following over zealous things that have to be put in place because of people like him in general. I don't get why there should be this fake respect for someone simply because they are dead. If I'd seen him doing what he was doing I'd have called him a lot worse than an idiot, the inevitable outcome of his stupidity doesn't change that.
-
We've broken evolution with do-good-ing! Not got a lot of sympathy for the guy, just thankful it seems he's been hit by the ride vehicle and not someone on it who he could easily have taken with him.

That's a different thing, I'm sure they publish it when it's ready although some o it might be redacted if necessary. Alton will already know exactly how the accident was able to occur, if they didn't they wouldn't have opened the rides they closed - you can't fix a problem if you don't know what it is!. Actually the point they worked out exactly what happened was when they closed the other rides a day or two after, as it was apparent the same set of circumstances that put two cars on one bit of track was possible on those too, however unlikely it was to actually happen. They'll have a good idea of what's in the report, because of they way health and safety have to investigate it's not done in secret, what they wont necessarily know is what sort of prosecution might be coming off the back of it. I'm sure they're crossing their fingers that it gets released over closed season...
-
Ultimately it's a good and popular ride. Buy a new one, they're not expensive in the scheme of things, run it properly and be comfortable with the fact it'll have to be binned in 10 years. The cost of investment per year of operation would still be quite low.

Avatar is more dead than angry birds as an ip. No one cares. However good it looks in the end I still find it a bizarre choice.
