  1. I still don't get why it seems so complicated as well? Or maybe I just didn't grasp your post cianjs! 3 trains. Load onto Victorian carriage, shift out of shell left. Stop. VR sequence, move further left to the station where you get out for the live sequence. Get back on the other side of the train, headsets back on, move out the way you came in, just a different track. Stop, wait for motion platform, get on that, tilt a little bit, then shift back into Victorian carriage horizontally. Train unloads, loads, moves on and the sliding track moves back to pick up the next one for the motion platform. If it's more complex than that then I don't understand why. And if that seems like a complex thing, then Simworx really weren't the best company for this at all. And the fact remains, as cool as the ride system might be, it doesn't come through as amazing on ride. It's like being on the underground with VR, but the underground moves faster and has sharp banked turns. And is probably creepier.
  2. New ride and entertainment building for Cbeebies.
  3. I'm not sure if by 12 different journey's they mean just 12 different characters in the beginning section. Then 2 finales. Heck, you could almost have 6 different characters at the beginning, and the 2 different ends makes a potential for 12 different rides. The use of 12 different journey's is slightly misleading I think. I would also assume that piece of paper you mention Dean does detail the capacity of each of the trains at the moment so the batcher knows how many to batch. I think the different endings are meant to be different throughout the train so you could be like "nah I had this " and all get confused about what happened.
  4. The scroller on the website says: These are the 3 crazy busy school trip days for this year then!
  5. The photo points aren't causing a 2 hour queue. And we found they're actually nice as they keep the queue moving at a constant pace instead of stop starting. And when they were being too slow they'd just flood a group of 60 through the 2nd photo point. At no point were they short of people between the second photo point and bag drop. Throughput I've heard will be in the region of 8/900 pph when fully going. I don't think the batching will get much quicker, just the group sizes a bit larger. If the second video isn't ready still and the throughput not 100% with broken headsets still an issue, should it be officially open? I know Thorpe will have wanted it open as soon as possible, but it just seems to be asking for trouble.
  6. Update time! New Hulk staff uniform posted on Orlando Informer. New locker system using park tickets instead of fingerprints (like the system used on Arthur at Europa) A look inside the now undercover extended queue. Big boy seats added to front and back row. Still no sign of an opening for this even though it is testing non stop basically. It is just queue work to go. Kong also has no opening, although everywhere is being advertised as open. It is still in technicals but has been open for almost the whole day every day now so yeah. Guess that's a safe bet. The media event is now assumed to be whenever Kong's is since Uni didn't want to hold it as originally planned, which would have been a few days after the Pulse incident in which Universal lost several cast members. A good tribute single has been released, slightly off topic but yeah. Proceeds go to Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, and GLAAD. Best wished to all those affected. Studios has a new stand out structure though. Taller than the lighthouse! Plus the volcano, they're really pumping out a skyline. Secret Life of Pets: Apparently, for this to arrive in Orlando as a ride the film has to hit a certain box office number. No idea what number that is. Hollywood's one has also gone a bit quiet even though construction has kinda started and someone from Comcast confirmed a ride was in the works. Add it to the worst kept secret list with Kong. Sixth hotel. It's happening, on the current resort. 600 rooms located tightly between Sapphire Falls and Cabana Bay. Will be the smallest hotel (only by 50 rooms compared to Hard Rock at 650). Red circle shows location and how the resort is going to look with VB and Sapphire Falls. Trademark for the name "Aventura Hotel at Universal" was also found. Expect it to open summer next year along with VB. Room count on resort: Up to 7200 including this, still less than half what Comcast said it was aiming for. A lot more to come.
  7. Well the demon only arrived back at Thorpe in the past few weeks. And last we saw, Derren had the dolls and was using them to scare his flatmates I assume they'll be used at the media night, could have them roaming at FN. Could also easily add them to the live action scene.
  8. Having spent the day here today I'm not at all surprised. Have always loved this park, Critter Creek is a wacky but brilliant retheme and I hope they continue to retheme certain areas like this in the future. It's bright, vibrant and just fun all round! Lost Kingdom is an amazing expanexpansion. What they got for the money they spent is great and shows how far it can go when used wisely. The Vekoma SFC's are a great coaster for family thrills and the junior boomerangs are brill too. Some decent flats, decent animatronics and decent music playing throughout. It's great to see how much they've grown since Peppa Pig and can't wait to see what they do next!
  9. That isn't happening and we are now more likely to see a GoTG ride at Epcot. The Marvel contract reads that because Universal has used characters from the Avengers team they have the rights to them all, thus the Avengers dark ride rumour for IoA. There is nothing saying they won't spark a new deal to let Disney use certain characters. It's well known that Uni wants to stay away from using the film versions As they change so much so stick to the comic styles. Disney will probably want to use the film versions like Chris Pratt as Starlord for pulling purposes. So they might work with that.
  10. Wow. Was expecting so much from this. The preshow is good, different to those seen before in this country. The train looked quite good even though it was clearly fake. Transition straight into an underground train makes no sense. As does the whole victorian styling but the whole ride is then set in like modern London. It's rushed getting on the carriage so you hardly have time to admire this "illusion." You have to get the VR on fast or you'll miss beginning bits. This section was decent, video quality was good and the story started to unfold a bit. The ' live action' scene is just shouty and predictable. Have seen the effect used much better with a lower budget. Back on with VR. Yay. The problems arise. The quality of the video drops, it's not very scary as the effect wears off fast. Then there's a boring loop section that plays as the ride system preps your vehicle for the next section. I know they are aware of this issue and it's technical rehearsals but how this part made it to this point is laughable. Then it ends. Urm. Very unimpressed. I knew VR would be used but not THAT much. The 5 experiences are very loosely touched. It doesn't seem to flow very well. It feels like you hardly move. There's hardly any theatrics or grand illusion. The story is an odd choice. The ride technology may be great, stunning, spectacular. Doesn't feel that when you're on it though. Which is surely more important! Not knowing how it works 100% but it's either not that stunning or Simworx severely overcomplicated things. Disney and Uni are no doubt interested in the technology, which they'll get Dynamic to make better and make a ride that uses it to it's potential. As for spoilers. EVERYTHING gets spoilt these days. Movies, rides. Everything. Even DB's shows do get spoilt fully by some writers even though he asks them not to. Derren asks us to keep it a secret to not ruin the fun. That's fine. This is a spoiler thread, you're either here to discuss the ride or look for spoilers for some reason in which case you're just ruining it for yourself. Not a lot you can do. Don't get the difference bbetween discussing it now or when it's properly open. Also, I know it's in softs and will go in again when it's properly open with an open mind. But there isn't much they can do in my eyes. The public seem to love it though. Guess that's all that matters. Oh well, more VR prominent attractions. Also feel like the vive was hardly utilised to it's potential. Shame as the potential is there, as it is with a lot of this.
  11. That date has been up on that site for a while, it's not confirmed anywhere. August is all that's being mentioned as the actual opening month. Softs could be soon though.
  12. Could go to Phantasialand and Florida in the same year
  13. Yeah, pretty sure no one would be riding it if it hasn't been signed off by HSE. Do HSE even sign it off or is it some other H&S thing? Either way, doubt it.
  14. So basically, this will replace the DBGT preview.
  15. The tower was a theming element in the plaza. Instead, Thorpe decided to install nitrogenie. As far as I know that was the situation.
  16. More information released! Krakatau: The 200-foot volcano, Krakatau, will be home to the unannounced marquee attraction and three body slides at the rear of the volcano with surprise doors that drop guests down into the slide. One of the body slides, Ko'okiri Body Plunge, is a 70-degree drop that sends guests down 125-feet through the center of the volcano and through a guest pool. The other two body slides, the Kala and Ta Nui Serpentine Body Slides, are two intertwining slides where guests will race along 124 feet of twists and turns. In addition, the area will have Punga Racers, "a high-speed race through four different enclosed slides featuring manta-shaped mats." Wave Village: Located at the base of Krakatau will be the Waturi Beach, a multi-directional wave pool with a sand beach and private one- or two-story cabanas. In addition, The Reef, is a leisure pool where guests get a view of those brave enough to ride the body slides. River Village: The calming, lazy river-style portion of the park includes the Kopiko Wai Winding River that passes though the caves of the volcano, which features water effects and nighttime lighting; Tot Tiki Reef, a play area for toddlers with slides and a kid-size volcano; Runamukka Reef, a three-story water playground with slides and sprinklers; Honu, a multi-passenger raft ride with two giant slope walls; and Ika Moana, another multi-passenger raft ride that will glide along bubble geysers. Rainforest Village: A part of the water park based on thrills like Maku, North America's first "saucer ride" that has raft riders "speeding around three saucer-shaped curves;" Puihi, another multi-passenger raft ride that will take guests into a dark area with a zero-gravity drop; Ohyah and Ohno Drop Slides, two twisting slides that will launch guests four and six feet above the water at the end; TeAwa The Fearless River, a racing torrent, whitewater rapids river where guests can hang onto inner tubes; Taniwha Tubes, four EasterIsland-inspired slides; and Puka Uli Lagoon, a relaxing pool area.
  17. Must just mean those two rides were really good to impress me but yeah, I prefer old school woodies like Zuess and Gwazi.
  18. Today seems like a day of announcements for Universal, what with DM announce to be replacing BTTF at USJ and an announcement at USH at 7:30am there time (so in an hour or so) most likely to be SLoPs. Also talks that next month at the 2nd quarter earnings call Comcast will talk about the third park in some way and more announcements rumoured before the year is up. Also just going to leave these here. HHNLegacy on Twitter.
  19. But it's worth it because it's DINSEY so will be the best ride everrrrr!!!! Soarin has also peaked at 250 minutes since that reopened! WOO
  20. A new booth has been set up somewhere on site to promote Volcano Bay which features this cool element, And this artwork which doesn't seem as amazing as Uni is promising with this waterpark. The volcano is going to look stunning, and there are a few slides in there that could have some great effects. Two lazy rivers, the thinner one to the left being more action and the larger one on the right being more lazy. The slide towers that we've already seen and lots of tiki huts. Although this does seem like a graphic they'd use for the maps which aren't great (apparently Kongs one is just a truck on a piece of road and some trees). So will be interesting to see how this turns out. You can also see the two new towers for Cabana Bay which are going to have great views of the park! And some slide pieces were damaged last week in a fire costing 2-3 million dollars apparently. So, spare change for Comcast!
  21. I dislike spinning flat ride stuff so I will be biased against it. Rumour? It's been confirmed hasn't it after we voted for? I mean, they've started demoing the area! Perfect for the park, a family thrill launch ride thing like Firechaser at Dollywood! Wodan doesn't compare. One because they're very different types of woodie, two because Zuess is so much better
  22. Only the new for this year RMC's are closed as it's something to do with a new system they're using for restraints on trains as of this year. This project though has been a mess. Quite like a lot of projects this year!
  23. Paris! Because mini breaks are awesome! With ghostly looking lighting This is the church in Madeline. Although the outside doesn't look as spectacular as St Augustin or Notre Dame, it is much grander on the inside View to the Concorde St Augustin With a mini version of the tower roof inside the tower roof. ROOFCEPTION Arc De Triomphe Was a long way to the top Worth it for the views though! And, like many things in Paris, free for 18-24 year olds! Because Mickey is everywhere IT's just a gorgeous place to walk about Army museum The Grand Palais plus crazy french junctions! 2nd floor of the Tower Oh yay. The Euros are on. So planned that... Let's look this way instead then. Just love the structure of it! And the football, obviously. Bridge of padlocks. New addition! Louvre Another free attraction for 18-24s The shpinx. Yup, THE sphinx. He's the one Thought Milo might have been bigger. Woo Mona Lisa. This is the pure definition of overrated. The opposite painting was quite spectacular though Notre Dame And the hunchback! Iron Man is also everywhere The very odd Grand Arch This view was amazing though! Perfectly straight down to the Arc De Triomphe! Trying to be artsy at the Louis Vuitton Foundation! Now no mini break would be complete without some cred hunting! Hello Asterix! This was really good fun! Wacky lift hill And dual load and offload! This is what these rides can be like. Not Storm Surge. Surprisingly this purple monster isn't the entrance to the ghost train but more the exit. The ride itself is good fun, some decent scare tactics but nothing to shout home about. This however was an excellent Mad House. The preshows were fun and the water one was fab. The mad house itself was like others, but cleverly used screens with the motion to make it feel like you were going sideways on a boat at points. It's Europe so there was of course a boat ride which was one of the better ones I've done Little Monorail type ride. This village bit you can see here has no rides. A few shops, a meet and greet but it was a lovely little walk through. As were two other sections of the park. It's a real shame Merlin and other parks want to cram rides in everywhere instead of having these little sections. It's nice to just wander about in a well themed area. Makes me sad Haunting in the Hollows isn't better. Another example here. With an indoor bit that they used during one of the kids shows as part of the story. It's the little things that I love about European parks. Little things. Moving on. Goudrix. Not great, not bad. Looks filthy. Clean it up ta. Or scrap it. New for this year is another well themed Disko that can so easily be produced. Throw in some pyro and water effects and boom. Nice themed entrance And you get yourself a relatively cheap but good investment! There's also a huge Bobsleigh, a bumpy splash thing that just looked painful A log flume and a rapids which seem mediocre till cray cray tunnel This pure cred with a good themed queue This really ugly out of place flat And the two shout home about rides. Really hard to photograph as it's hidden, Zuess is a superb woodie. Proper old school with speed, rattle, harsh turns and ridiculous speed throughout. And then this. Oz'iris! In this photo you can see a little fountain show taking place which had some score from HTTYD playing alongside. It really is a baby Montu, but better. It's stunningly beautiful The station building is amazing The first drop without the predrop is crazy in back row. The pacing is superb! Length brilliant! Forces on point Indoor queue gorgeous! There's so much more to it than this photo. The elements of the ride portrayed on this wall for you geeks (not the best photo ever) And this guy in the middles. Sums the ride up brilliantly. Well themed, but with a sense of humour and fun about it. Oz'iris, people said when it was being built could it beat Nemesis. Unsure, but it's possibly the closest thing I've ridden that could. I don't think I've quite loved a ride this much in a long time. Definitely my favourite new ride since Manta, and it could beat that. I will have to seriously rethink my top 10 later this year. Parc Asterix overall is a well themed park with a sense of humour and fun about it. All the staff seemed lovely, efficient, and happy to help. On Oz'iris they were running around unbuckling seatbelts before the train had fully stopped so when the bars were released all belts were undone. I've never seen anything like it. There are a few areas of the park that need work, but that's the case with many parks. Recent investments show they're heading the right way and will no doubt sort out other areas in need. My only real niggle with the park, where's the ride merch??? Loads of Asterix stuff, but no seperate ride merch Park rating: 8.5/10 Oz'iris: 9.5/10 Next trip: Belgerand Part2
  24. And that staff member is surely only going to push the button when the other two station staff (one who stands by front row directly in front of the button pusher and one who stands to the left by exit) put their thumbs up. That should be how it works. At least they don't personally tell you you're secure after they check your restraint like a certain land of Lego.
