  1. I hate it when amusement parks classify themselves as theme parks reagrdless of whether it gives them more pulling power with the GP. At least it is good to see them invest in new attractions. I have had my eye on Brean ever since they acquired Space Invaders from Blackpool.
  2. Sounds like a good outline to me. Hoping to make some of these, with a few maybes. Definitely want to try and get to Alton, MOS and the traditional Christmas meet. Possibly the DLP one too though at the moment, I don't know how likely that would be. Had hoped to make the Chessington one though I don't think I am going to be able to head down south during April.
  3. If I manage to get home from Nottingham on the Friday, I should be able to make it on the 28th.
  4. Just got myself an annual pass finaly. Thank you TPM!
  5. Awesome, thanks Josh! I presume the £119 is its sale price. If so, it looks likely I will get this one. I know what the pros of the Premium pass are but for anyone who has one, would you say it is worth the extra cost. Free parking sounds nice though I would likely only need it once a year for LEGOLAND.
  6. Was curious to know whilst on the topic of annual passes 1) I believe the January/christmas sale on passes is currently on that would allow me to get one for £99.00 if I read correctly. However, when I go through their site, they all still say the full price. Does this change as you progress further through the transaction. Don't want to be buying a full price one if I can get it in a sale. 2) Can I confirm that you can get the passes sent straight to your address. Reason being I won't be able to collect it at an attraction for some time. Thanks guys!
  7. Unfortunately all of the days are a no go for me. Hopefully I will be able to attend the April meet or one of the smaller ones in between depending on where they are. Take care dudes!

I have just got one week left before I finish for the term/year. I seem to get a ton more work than the other courses here though that is not necessarily a bad thing, and this far, I am thoroughly enjoying it. Just preparing my final module work for submission now. Damn I need a holiday...
  9. I have seen this point come up numerous times as to whether the Scenic will actually qualify as a restored ride having been built primarily from new timbers. However it is important to recognize that none of the original timber from 1920 exists today. In fact all of the structure (barring mechanical elements) approximately dates back to the mid/early 90s. As the planning application states... "Every piece of timber was replaced, on an approximate seven year cycle. Therefore the ride's historic importance is arguably less about exact details of the fabric and much more about the feel, noise and excitement of the ride."

  11. So glad they haven't gone down the rollercoaster route this time. After the recent additions of Swarm and SAW, I really don't think Thorpe need any more any time soon. Very excited to see how this plays out.
  12. Maybe they play it irregularly. I distinctly remember them playing it in April when I went to visit with my friend.

Very pleased to hear this though doesn't sound like it will be sticking around long due to Coca Cola which is of course a shame.

  16. It is a shame but I really don't see a long term future for Lightwater Valley. It is a very nice park and it has potential. It just doesn't seem to have the money behind it that it so rightly deserves. Removing one of their signature rides certainly isn't a good move though I could guess there is a reason behind this.
  17. I am over £100 at the moment including petrol/travel money, park tickets, food, accommodation, drinks, potential other tower attractions etc. I am trying to keep it on a budget however.

    Legoland

By that judgement, any major ride would from now on be rejected on that basis. This is what I find frustrating about the UK. I am sure if the planning laws weren't so tight, we would see alot more development in our parks. Chessington is clearly the worse though most UK parks share this problem.

    Legoland

Well that really is a shame. No wonder they have resorted to building climbing frames and playgrounds. I don't know what will be next but I very much doubt it will be on the scale of what the plans were.
  20. Looks like I am in for definite. Looking forward to this now!
  21. While it may seem like nothing is happening, work is well underway. The campaign is one of my primary interests so I always like to keep updated with the news. At the moment... - The Carousel, adult jets ride and Double Decker rocket ride are all being restored by David Littleboy offsite. - Work on refurbishing the mechanical elements of the Scenic Railway (motors, pull ups etc) are all being completed by WGH Ltd offsite - Interests to restore the Corbierre Wheel and Junior Whip have been received. (now finding best restoration method) - An operating company should have been selected by now (though I can't remember the exact date off hand) - Planning permission for the alteration/renovation of the lower ground floor cinema building and Scenic Railway have been submitted to the council. Work can't begin until permission is granted. Regardless of how it may look, work is happening.
  22. ^ Much the same to be honest. I have also just found out I start uni less than a week after Blackpool which isn't great. I am hoping I can go even if it isn't the full 3 days.
  23. I was looking through old news articles on Joyland Books.com when I found this article dating back to 2001. Does any have any recollection of this twin tracked coaster proposal? Seems like one of those rumours that just pop up and go before you have time to blink.
  24. Unrelated note. Have Pleasure Beach upped their marketing game recently? Living in the South East I rarely see any advertisements for the park whatsoever but in the past month I have seen billboards, banners and Facebook sponsors all using the strapline 'The UK's most ride intensive park'. Had me wondering whether they were attempting to reach people further afield or whether I just never acknowledged this advertising until now.
  25. Glad everyone seemed to have a good time. Wish I could have come. I did attempt to arrange something last minute but I didn't have the full money for the travel and MOS: of which I was really looking forward to. ^Hope you can make the Blackpool one Matt C! I am trying to go to that and would be cool to see you again.
