What is the capacity of Thorpe BTW and do they overfill it? When I worked in a nightclub years ago, we had a capacity but the manager always let more people in on the busier nights to avoid some customers getting disappointed. Also if they have more attractions open (mazes) can they let more people in?

The whole fact is you should not be forced to buy fast track tickets when you have already paid for your entry. If I paid full price and only got on 3-4 rides, you wouldn't see me go back again. Many reports on Trip advisor report the same. Thankfully I have a MAP and can go whenever I want.

Colossus has been on one train for most of the season!

IF Alton are struggling to fill their current hotels, this it is simply down to price. I have wanted to stay so many times, but it is 2-4 times more expensive that a Premier in down the road. So to fill the rooms, they only need to adjust the price. I'm all for this extra development, anything which adds to the resort, gives more variety and makes Merlin more money can only be a good thing.

This is another example of where the Towers seems to get solid investment and Thorpe doesn't. I'm all for this investment, as long as the pricing is good, I'd love to stay in one of these, but you wouldn't catch me in a snoozebox even if they were £50 a night.

Its a shame Chessington don't have a 4D cinema, I believe it would go down very well there. I really enjoyed Ice Age 4D at Alton and the family guest who visit Chessington would love it too. I am sure Thorpe could have changed their 4D cinema to have a more adult themed or even horror show, just imagine if they have Saw: The 4 D experience....

There is nothing wrong with Th13teen, its a very good family coaster, I think most were expecting it to be a scary adult coaster, so say that its very poor. When in fact the theme and ride experience is very good. Th13teen does what it does very well. Hopefully SW7 will keep the thrill seekers happy and the families and people who don't want extreme coasters can enjoy Th13teen.

I vote for Pizza Pasta :-)

Your all really selling this.... so if I want to go and pay my extra £5 to get in, I can expect to not get a parking space, for it to be over capacity and the only way to get on anything is to fast track, should I go back in 2013 when everyone will flood to SW7 and Zufari?

I think in many cases it comes down to the amount of hassle vs amount of profit. If Pizza hut pay them truck loads of cash, they get money for nothing. But if they have a Pizza Pasta and the amount of hassle to run the place doesn't give good profits, then PH could stay. I can see why large places contract this stuff out so they don't have to worry about staffing and all the other things which come along with it, they charge rent and leave them to it and take a big cut.

If Thorpe have been heavily investing in the last 10 years, maybe they need to increase the amount of investment as the park is lacking behind all of the other Merlin parks in my opinion.

I would be interested in how it happened, maybe she has small feet or shoes which got caught and dragged in.

I'm happy for Pizza Pasta as a replacement, but TP will need to get the restaurant increased in size as I currently dont go in there due to two reasons: 1) queue is too long 2) no Merlin discount
-
We need a Nandos at TP.
-
For some people that is really bad news! LOL

Sounds a lot of hassle having to pre-book your £5 extra just to get in the park, I didn't have to do that with Alton Towers this weekend... I might not bother going to Thorpe to be honest

Get rid of the chart music, only use it for events and club nights and put the 'Theme' back in to our theme park.

Marwell is just down the M3/A3 and is very large. To be honest as I live outside of London I wouldn't visit London Zoo as its too expensive to get in by train and get in, Chessington would win on a Zoo day for me. Anything you do in London is just too expensive when you add the cost of the train, food, drinks and entry into places. The only way it becomes viable is if you have 4 people using a group discount on the train and taking advantage of 2 for 1 London vouchers.

Easyjet and Ryanair.... no thanks

To be honest I would be happy not to have a new ride and for them to improve the reliability of the current rides and upgrade the park to a higher standard.

The 'Definitely 100% Totally Going to Happen' London Resort
BigBobJones replied to Liam T's topic in UK Attractions
Can't wait, if anything Disneyland should hopefully up their game too. I wonder what rides and attractions they will have too as the UK is lacking many good dark rides, hopefully Paramount will be able to inject some good quality rides in to the UK. Now what will Merlin do, they have 5 years to either do nothing or up their game and have some very good competition for Paramount. My view is Merlin will do very little and will sit and wait and come the date it opens they will just offer everyone 2 for 1 entry or 50% of an MAP. -
Bad weather and a weekday should be quiet, but if Colossus, Stealth and The Swarm are on one train operation, there will be 40 min queues for those rides. *Fingers crossed this wont be the case*

not on... ok Do we know the reason or is it because somebody got wet on a water ride and complained? There seems to be so much inconstancy with the effects on most of the rides at Thorpe, you go on Youtube and see effects and think "That didn't work when I was on there, to think of it, that effect has not worked all year"
-
I think Chessington have run out of space to expand and most of it is green belt around there too. The only way I can see Chessington expanding is to purchase the garden Centre next door and make that the new South Car park and build on the existing South Car park if they are allowed. I am sure Zufari will be a real success. Once Zufari is up and running, I'm sure many families will be looking at going to the Zoo and think Marwell or Chessington... well you get a reasonable Zoo and rides at Chessington, or just a Zoo at Marwell.

There are lots of water effects which don't work on the rapids, add it to the long maintenance list Thorpe... For every effect which doesn't work, takes a little something away from your day out, but Thorpe don't seem to fix things when they go wrong. Its laughable, people who go to the Towers complain that there is no colour dye in the water at Nemesis, people who go to Thorpe don't even get water on the drop on loggers or water effects on a water ride! LOL
