  1. Apparently it's been decided as too costly.
  2. Train One, refurbished and back on track. having been working on this train for over a year, this train has only it's original chassis, everything else has been renewed, even the bodyshells and seat moldings. One could have not have failed to realize the degradation of the foam on the restraints, which resulted in concaves developing on the underside caused by the effects of human perspiration; now the comparison with train two which remains in use emphasizes that. Some of the new rotating joints are harder to move for the moment. Train three is now off track and undergoing refurbishment. This work does conflict with the remarks of another rider yesterday, who insisted that they had seen a report which stated that Stealth "is to be removed at the end of the season", really? this work proves that Stealth is here for a good few years yet.
  3. Nice write up, again, thanks. Good pictures.
  4. Not much more to add to Josh's informative answer, except, it cannot have three trains on track.
  5. Sadly a young lady was injured at Canada's Wonderland on Thursday having fallen from "Swing of the Century". It seems she may have suffered from a medical issue. The press, as usual, have started to stir things with "The incident marks the latest in a number of amusement park-related incidents in recent months" but fail to add that the majority are due to guests actions. Stay safe folks, and that means, avoid the press. Hope that the young lady recovers.
  6. As I intimated, my other main hobby is Aviation and luckily recently I combined a trip to Seattle with Toronto, and as we have discussed, things change; very few aircraft collections/museums now provide guides and likewise with theme parks. I was aware of fellow coaster enthusiasts who used to collect those guide/plans and for them, a major part of our hobby has gone. The comment from these establishments is "it's online".
  7. Well worded and containing reflections of many of our thoughts. Oddly enough, the improvements in technology and availability of the contact, has disintegrated some forums and clubs, with splinter groups becoming cliques no longer open to "all members"; I have seen it with aeroplane clubs as well as coaster clubs, no doubt this applies to many hobbies. We all have a variety of interests and levels of knowledge which, in the older formats, could and would be shared with wider audiences. Enjoy your hobbies.
  8. As an ERT it was disappointing, as a ride it is brilliant. It's okay for me as I live locally but many members travelled a long way and had paid. What adds to the annoyance is how late the ride opened to the general public with staff members re-riding the "test" runs; not tactful.
  9. Fair comment Josh, so perhaps I'm being selfish, my thoughts only.
  10. For me yesterday, I found it extremely frustrating that they chose to remove a train at the beginning and during the ERS, then still sent an empty test train. Sadly this is similar to another certain English park that gradually reduces the amount of available seats by placing the sandbags on board in preparation for the following mornings tests. When it comes to throughput I cannot see TP being bothered as they have a limited capacity, and any people in the park have already paid, they don't have to worry.
  11. The ride you are on is the best in the world, at that moment.
  12. Yesterday, Sat. 6th, just as chaotic on platforms, with no-one batching. Staff in the bag room have to work hard, well done them.
  13. Two trains yesterday, Saturday.
  14. Me too on the "event" which was a little frustrating at times, so yes, I have finally ridden Hyperia. I think it is an outstanding roller coaster with some unique tracking. I do like the restraint. No doubt many will make adverse comments but it is what we have, it is great, and it cannot be changed, enjoy it. I don't think one can compare it to other rides, it is unique, in my opinion.
  15. I've not been to Heide Park for years and I think we spent most of the time riding wood; Scream is a 338' drop and must be brilliant.
  16. That was the way Drayton Manor's Apocalypse went. That was a shame with the options of floorless, sitting or standing, and at 177', it was brilliant, Detonator's drop is 115'.
  17. Apparently this is one of possibly three rides that, due to being older, requiring parts that need replacing though there is no company making the parts. As elsewhere, if a ride is unique even though that may only be in dimensions in the infrastructure, the cost of repairs becomes exhorbitant. The same reason we lost Slammer.
  18. Clearly we view that differently, though management believe their use has been to aid efficiency.
  19. Luckily, it won't affect me, but I will not reveal why just now. Rode it today, still not happy with the earpiece/intercoms, it really does reduce the chat between hosts and riders, but that's another topic.
  20. I know I am an old "f" but it seems the "f word" is the default setting in most peoples' vocabulary. It's used to complain, show shock, exclaim joy, amazement, awe, and to educate children. Let's hope they never discuss fornication, they'll be lost for words. I heard a youngster on Stealth exclaim, after the ride, "oh my gosh!" I thought that was nice.
  21. Due to me being forced during a break in Stealth operation, I ventured over to Saw. I used the SRQ but the whole operation was extremely slow taking at least thirty minutes. There seemed to be people all over the place but not progressing anywhere. Turns out it would have been quicker to use the normal queue, but baggage and loading queues seemed to be constantly vying with each other. Several times, trains partially empty were sat waiting.
  22. On Stealth today, a chap who I sat beside had his two very young children on the row in front of us. As is my way, and establishing that this was their first time on the ride, I asked if he'd given them any advice? He then called out to the kids shouting "it'll be alright!". It was, but I personally thought he could have done better.
  23. Finally, after thousands of launches over several years, the one thing I never wanted, I had a rollback today. Within a couple of hours of telling several people that I never wanted one, it happened. The power of the launch failed about half way down the run and we barely rose three quarters up the vertical. Still they could not get me a cuppa..........and after rolling us back to the platform, we were off within fifteen minutes.
  24. It seems that during one night in the last week the Park audio systems were left on, all night, only to be turned off by staff arriving at 7a.m.. Complaints from neighbouring areas such as Chertsey have received an apology from the Park.
