  1. Took a trip for the first time ever last May. Love Rage, it's different and nice to ride a Eurofighter different to Saw. The go-karts are fun. I stayed in the nearby Park Inn hotel which overlooks it. Interesting how it's all lit up at night until all the lights go off at once when it's time to close.
  2. I miss the waft of McDonalds burgers as you fly over the second lift hill base (after the tunnel).
  3. Not really, you're not missing out on much. All I enjoy is waiting in the queue at the top, watching Nemesis and Colossus climb their lift hills together, and wait to see which coaster will finish first. That as well as watch Detonator go up and down, and Stealth operate too. You get some good views from up there.

I like low lap bars, Th13teen's are low and good. Rush's are so low I feel like I'm gonna fall out!
  5. I've recently been past the old Dungeons at Tooley Street to see what it's like now. Apart from the main logo that's gone, there are various advertisements advertising the new location, and the 2 stone crypt figures no longer have a flame (understandable). There's a themed member of staff guarding the old entrance for anyone with queries. Along Tooley Street, every arch and doorway is boarded up with the developers name slapped on it. A bike shop, a pub and a takeaway are the main casualties that have gone to new locations. You then get to the Britain At War experience which too has closed for good, to make way for the London Bridge station works. Shame really, it was a great attraction, however small and run-down some may have considered it - unfortunately this has gone for good and is not relocating. I shall miss it. The 2 tunnels which take one-way traffic are currently closed for work, whether this is to do with the station work I don't know. Tooley Street is changing - for the better? Who knows, until London Bridge is completed.
  6. It makes the park look so square when it's not, same for Alton's map.

Stomach of steel, me. I can eat anything and then go on any ride and feel fine straight after, and later on.Then again I'm not normal.
  8. How long does Rumba last, 3-4 minutes? Congo River Rapids @ Alton, 8-10 minutes? No comparism for length, time and ride experience. Face it Rumba, you're rubbish.
  9. Lately, there is a lot of news flying about how mobile gaming will become more popular in the future. It's already popular today, and there's definitely a future market for it. Some prefer games consoles, whereas some prefer mobile gaming on phones or tablets. Which do you prefer? Lately I am more into more mobile gaming, I'm a big Diamond Dash addict and play every day on my phone, iPad or online. I've always enjoyed games consoles but not to the extreme. My mint-condition PS2 only gathers dust these days, and I should really trade it in.
  10. 5pm is the norm. That's what time they close every time I go in May.
  11. Love how War Of The Worlds is based so locally and mentions Horsell common.

The forward-facing trains rumour can finally be put to bed! Time to look forwards on this ride, not backwards. Now I've heard this it's a case of "No likey" -adding MoS is not a bad idea, but in some ways I feel let down. Turn X forwards and the Swarm backwards. Nice going. Well done Thorpe, you've done it again and ruined another ride. X may have not been at its best the last few years, but the backwards experience was unique and fun.
  13. Definitely agree with that. It seems lately we want Storm Surge gone, and also Rumba. And Depth Charge seems to have us split.5 water rides is too many. I only ride Rumba and Loggers rarely. I haven't done Tidal in years. There have been rumours going around Alton Towers for a while now that The Flume may be going. Shame, as it would be the only park without a flume ride. They should just retheme it.
  14. Yes, it was taken back to Holland for most of the closed reason where it received a major overhaul, and a new settings system I think. Here is the Thorpe Park newsletter sent to employees in January 2004, complete with pictures of Samurai in pieces at Mondial in Holland. Click here for the full page of its deconstruction from Chessington in November 2003.

    Television

The recent passing of Thunderbirds legend Gerry Anderson prompted me to search up some episodes on YouTube. I've now decided I want to watch the lot again in full!

    Favourite Films

OK, time to list a few great films I enjoy: The Football Factory Green Street Outlaw The Business Goodbye Charlie Bright The Hangover The Hangover part 2 Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey King Kong (2006) Taken Taken 2 The Sweeney (2012) American Beauty Some oldies I enjoy too: Airplane! The Early Bird Press For Time One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing My favourites of all time are Green Street, The Sweeney and American Beauty. Even to this day, 14 years after it was released, American Beauty still reminds me of how well it was made.
  17. I wasn't visiting the park regularly when Samurai arrived at the start of 2004, was it advertised as new? I do recall seeing some photos online of some banners about it getting a new home, not sure which park.
  18. Ryan, is that you on the right with chequered collar?
  19. I'm sure the time format is interchangeable with whichever version with features you buy.
  20. You must've seen the tacky extended queueline before the entrance? Always rammed.
  21. Or half the season! Let's hope Samurai has a reliable season, the slowness discussed is bad and at least it's still running, but there's a part of me that's convinced it will go down for weeks or months later this year. The signs are there, the mighty warrior isn't as mighty these days. If it did pack up altogether, I'd like to see Thorpe do a Zodiac with it and get another topscan, rather than remove it altogether. Thorpe must realise this rides popularity.

    Rita

For those in the park lately, has the fence under Rita's launch gone?
