There comes an extent where some disabilities should not count towards a pass. For example last week there were a family where the kid was perfectly able to queue as he was joining the stealth queue, riding then using his band to get on right afterwards.

No alton towers is worse in some places. The Smiler, Air and Rita are the top 3 rides I would rate as worsely done fastrack. The swarm is a very high scorer of terrible ratios as well. They should raise the price of fastracks dramatically to discourage sales as at the moment it is stupid and is rather off putting. I go to thorpe park a lot and everytime we hear at least one group moaning at the vast amounts of them. I understand that they have been basically mugged to skip a queue but maybe people should learn that somethings need to be waited for.

I am fully aware what a ratchet system is. If a ratchet is in good condition then the thing stopping the ratchet from moving backwards is the fact metal cant pass through metal. That picture has it so the faces are following the line of the diameter of the circle where as quite often they don't. A good ratchet system has it so the flat surface is at an angle so that part 2 can not slip back up. That way they have far longer life spans as it takes more to wear and is obvious when the ratchet is old and needs replacing. I know the evac procedures on saw and stealth as one of my best friends was working at the park in 2010 as an engineer. Saw has a different type of locking which doesn't use a ratchet it is a hydraulic system which allows for individual seats to be released rather than row by row.

A ratchet doesn't rely on friction it relys on the fact that metal cant go through metal which is the electromagnetic repulsion of atoms, not friction. When I said that its to prevent all the restraints I meant all of the restraints on the same system. So if a car consisting of 2 rows is released you don't want both rows getting off at the same time you only want one.

Oh its just that, that line confused me.

Wait a second which one is swing A, I thought A was the swing closest to the operator room which is obviously performing better. The one closest the operator room gets to full height unlike the other swing which most of the time doesn't reach 90.

That small piece of fabric does not act as a fail safe it is there so if a evac is required and the seats are released they do not all release at once. On B&M and intamin multiple rows get unlocked at the same time and so the belts are there to hold them so 1 row at a time is removed. Gertslauer have individually unlocking seats so they do not need seat belts. As for hydraulic seats are considered safe that is true but that doesn't explain why The Swarm has seat belts. The only purpose for belts is in the event of an evac, the ratchet system can not slip otherwise there is no way they would be allowed to have them. You can believe what you want but I am telling you they are there for evac only.

Buckling the ride is really not important. The ride operation doesn't need the seat belts, they are just there so if they need to get people off not in the station all the seats don't release at the same time. The ride wont leave unless all the seats are locked and it only takes 5 seconds to type in 2 numbers.

yes they pick a number at random and type it in as the queue time.
-
One problem with the system they use is that if it is based of wait time then they over allocate tickets as the estimated queue times are always too short. Not sure if they over estimate on purpose to encourage sales or its that every ride they work it out wrong.
-
Does anyone know the actual percentage of the throughput of a ride which goes towards the main queue. More and more I visit the more and more I fastracks I think they sell. I would like to think that they only allocate a maximum of 10% to fastracks but something tells me its a lot more.

Bhasvic finished early yesterday and all the A2 students are off as they either have a few exams left or completly done. Also the weather is/was nice.

I'm still very confused in how a shark made of junk relates to thorpe park. If its soley themed like that becuase of an island like no other then I'm slightly concerned. An island like no other is ok but could be so much more and so much less generic.

Often they let the annual pass people in later than expected. Its meant to be 9:15 at weekends but rarely is. Weekends and holidays are when they open at 9:30, 10 is the rest of the time with a few exceptions of when they know it will be busy like school strikes and things like that.
-
Being let in early isnt that beneficial. All of the crash pad guests are already in there and the normal people get let in about 5 minutes after.

Yeah a lack of water. If there is no water getting to the park I would assume that means there is a lack of water.
-
Cedar point has been closed for the last 2 days because of a lack of water. Any other theme parks done this before or is this another cedar point world record.

I am still yet to understand what the big attraction about hybrids are. If your having a wood coaster act as steel then just make it out of steel and avoid the creation of this ugly mess.

Thorpe would not get a Doctor Who themed ride. I doubt any merlin park would as that is the BBC's flagship. If you messed it up in the smallest detail then both BBC and merlin would come off looking bad. Personally I dont think its a risk that they are willing to take.
-
They drain it when it rains. Too much water gets in the system and the water level rises. That means it flows into the surroundings and can prevent Nemesis from running as the clearance of the train and the water isn't big enough.
-
If the first way didnt work and yesterdays way didnt work what are they going to try next. Personally I think they should stick with yesterdays system and refine the ratios of the queues. If the fastrack system is rolled into the RnR then it should work better as its only split 2 ways and the RnR can factor in the amount of fastrack exactly.
-
Excessive hang time is very excessive. From the pov the ride doesnt really flow into the next element too well.
-
I'm just hoping that its not really successful and is introduced to the smiler.
-
The cars seem quite light and the voltage being used is quite high. So when the cars get bumped and move upwards instead of the current stopping it just jumps. I do believe that, that generates more heat and is leading to the new rubber burning. It should stop after the ride has settled in.
-
well they need to base it on the real queue and that is really hard to work out when the real queue is influenced by the reserve and ride queue. I guess what they have done it allocate a certain throughput to RnR and another set to the real queue. so if that amount of people don't turn up or the throughput changes then it will go wrong. On another note its spreading! They have a paper based system developing at cbeebies land.
