  1. Absolutely gutted about no Face It Alone ? Honestly don't think I've ever had that kind of adrenaline rush in any other scare attraction, nothing is quite as unnerving as watching your friends disappear one by one and thinking "oh god it's nearly my turn!" Had some amazing solo runs particularly in 2015, going to miss it but I guess it will save me a lot of money haha!

Could we see it staying closed till summer once again or are Thorpe going to open it from the start

Now, I'm not 100% but I believe Samurai was closed at the beginning of the 2016 season due to an accident on a different ride of the same model. I believe the manufacturers had to come out for inspection or something of the like- I'm hazy on the details- but I'm almost positive there was an incident on an identical ride.

Point being- so long as winter maintenance goes to plan and no issues come up with it, I don't see why it won't be up and running from day one ?

I wonder if this will impact the two fright night mazes using this area (assuming they will continue to do so next year.)

Ngl where else do they even have to put mazes if this site becomes unavailable? This could have a huge impact on Fright Night, cause let's be honest, Canada Creek was already stretched for space when it came to the maze queuelines with just Rocky...

So bottom line is- even if they could still squeeze the mazes in, I can't see where the queuelines could be constructed???

Sidenote- if they don't retheme these things I'll... well I don't even know. But I won't be a happy bunny. I mean come on Merlin, even if it's a temporary solution and you don't wanna fork out for new theming at least strip away as much of the nautical theme as possible and leave it bare as an absolute minimal effort option ???

In other news, I propose it a ban-worthy offence to refer to this ride as DBGT, it is now DBGTROTD.

Hahaha my thoughts precisely! Such a long + awkward acronym just screams Merlin ????

Honestly though, just to contribute to the main topic of conversation; I've never been a huge fan of the ride. I SO wanted to like it but the flaws were strikingly obvious from the start. And that second VR section... just no. No thanks.

hoping for improvement on that GREEN MIST if nothing else. A scare maze surely couldn't make it worse than it already is, though it surely won't make it better either. Simply I just don't care if it gets one or not, I've lost hope in this attraction ??

  5. What happened ??

I wish I could tell you but that would be spoilers ;) pretty much just very hands on, scenery and props used REALLY well! Seems to be double the actors, I crawled half the maze and was covered in... Various liquids :')

  6. Ryan most of the group last week came out covered in some form of makeup. They remember us from brave it alone that's why we keep getting an intense experience on a normal runthrough.

Okay Jordan idk about you but the only makeup I came out in was what I put on that morning :')

However... For everyone arguing this point now:

Best explanation I can give for what he's trying to say here- some the actors have been extremely intense in cabin on our run throughs because we vaguely know 2 or 3 of them, as in, not exactly besties, but we know them by name and they would give us a passing hello (obvs not while working). Some are from previous years, some just enthusiasts we've happened across etc etc. So yeah, basically we've been pinned to walls, pushed on the floor and crawled on top of, actually "greeted" by name, and kept back for ages. So I see what he's saying that Thorpes mazes CAN be as full on as sub species, however, this isn't usually the norm unless you're lucky and get a good run, so on the whole and based on other mazes I've done this year, I agree that touching is rare and mostly not toooo intense.

Regarding the makeup... We weren't covered in it haha :') occasionally if they wear a little too much fake blood it's at risk of transferring onto guests and that happened to one of our friends, most likely completely on accident. Aside from that- I've never had makeup put on me.

Like Amy said, people have allergies, they can't do that!!

Anyhow, let this die, it might've been exaggerated but he's made a point that thorpe are clearly capable of making mazes intense... The question is why don't they do that for everybody? It would certainly be better!

  7. yeah agreed. saw was actually brilliant this year on my 2 run throughs. in my opinion, it's really just got good. cabin ill be sad to see leave too, best maze ive ever done at thorpe :-(.

and yeah, MBV needs to go. I actually thought it was great last year but this year and in 2013 it was ridiculously awful. I wont care if it leaves at all.

I've never liked it honestly- in the first year it creeped me out bc I swear it was a lot darker? Don't quote me on that but I used to feel it was genuinely frantic and really claustrophobic and now I just amble through :') a revamp is needed!

  8. Am I the only one who would be sad to see Saw Alive go? Yes? Okay but hear me out-

once that goes its unlikely we'll see that standard of themeing in a thorpe maze again :/ after getting a little too up close and personal with all the sets in face it alone I can really appreciate how much extreme attention to detail has been put it- will be sad to see all that go away :/ we can only hope they design something to the same standard- visually at least!

Tbh MBV needs to leave IMO, with just one container gone it's such a different maze, it's just not the same as it once was and it feels like it's been thrown together in a hurry this year to give them an extra maze!

Only one I'll be really sad to see go in terms of actual experience is cabin, I've honestly never been so impressed with a maze before, every run through I've had has been outstanding. Happy big top is coming back though! Will be nice to see some improvement but I'm such a big fan of the overall theme and storyline anyway! Love the music too (it's still stuck in my head though ah!).

  9. Visited last night and overall very pleased :)

Big top has made HUGE improvements, the whole feel of the maze is now 10x better, absolutely love it now!

We did Cabin FAR too many times, but every time we went in this same actor was tormenting me because she recognised me and it actually really put me on edge! Always my favourite maze :)

We has SUCH a good run through SAW Alive yesterday as well! At least 2 actors in each room, everyone was brilliant, and I can't say it was actually scary per say but we were just watching in awe of how good it was :')

MBV is sadly just awful IMO and I have yet to have a halfway decent run. we saw no actors in the entire first half, still haven't gone down the tunnel, saw maybe 2 or 3 "victims" the whole time and still no Harry...

Still haven't done Blair witch but I will hopefully if I can get there again but it will unfortunately be over half term week :(

Also did a Face It Alone in SAW and oh wow... :') definately not for the faint of heart and to say I wasn't shaking in terror in the lead up to the maze would be a lie. The experience is extremely intense! I would definately reccommend and do it again though!

  10. Sorry I shouldn't of said 'Anything' :P If you can collect brave it alone tickets from the advanced ticket collection I'm pretty sure you can collect it from the AP building. It's worth a try anyway?

I'll try get there nice and early and give it a go! It's a Friday anyway not a Saturday so shouldn't be too bad! Thanks :)

  11. Just a little tip I've found over the years, you can collect anything from the annual pass building, including friends and family tickets and AP fright nights tickets. On Sunday the Advanced ticket collection queue was full, but I just walked in the annual pass building and collected it all there.

Sounds dumb as you said "anything" but think I could collect brave it alone tickets from the ap building?? I just literally hate that advanced ticket queue with all my heart
