  1. Am I the only one thinking it is highly possible that Steven Kings' IT will be the new ip. I mean it would be classic Thorpe for them to keep the big top exactly the same, but just brand it as an 'IT' maze with a couple of new theming items placed around. The main reason I say this is because there is a new version of the movie coming out this year and when the new Blair witch movie came out last year, Thorpe took the opportunity to brand it as a new maze!

Just speculation, I don't want it to happen but I think there is a strong possibility that it will.

As to other mazes I'm really excited to see what the park does, platform needs the treatment big top got last year, saw needs to have the same high number of actors it had last year, I don't really do containment so I don't care about that, and hopefully there will be at least 2 maybe 3 new attractions.

I really think this will be a good year for fright nights if Thorpe manage the crowds well and just don't sell fast track at all for the mazes.

  2. Scrap this pile of crap!

    nothing else to say

It's a great ride it is one of my favourite rides at the park. :)

Its one of mine to, mind you I do think its a bit rough if you sit at the back though other than that its fantastic!

The ride has been rough since it was six years old (at least), surely after 9 more years of operation the park must be thinking of knocking it down

  3. I really think fright nights will be big this year, with big top which was amazing, saw which is actually my favourite fright night maze (which will surprise a lot of you), platform which will hopefully be improved in the same way big top was creating a quality maze, containment which is always fun, and at least one (possibly and hopefully more) new attraction.

I know it's still very early but I'm pretty sure it was around the middle of May when the park announced platform last year, so hopefully we will be getting some news or updates soon.

  4. Tbh I think they will put something like Air Force in its place, but what I would love to see (and yes I know it is never going to happen) is a ride like sledgehammer at Canada's wonderland.

A realistic suggestion could be an air wolf, I really think that would fill slammer's boots as you will also be able to see it flying through the air from all around the park, much like slammer.

  5. I spent my day walking round the park and the coasters that were open seemed to all be on 2 trains, I only got on saw and x but they were both running well. At the start of the day X was on 4 trains and the queue moved surprisingly quickly but when I rode it later on it seemed that a train had been taken off as there were moments where there wasn't even a train in the station.

  6. A rumour has been going around that Thorpe management are already discussing fright nights for this season (which I suppose is a positive), but they voted on having 3 well themed, long, detailed, and well thought out attractions or to have 8 quick mazes which they don't really put as much effort into.

I think it would be a no brainier for a lot of us on these forums but Thorpe obviously care more about quantity more than quality. I wasn't meant to share this with any of you (I know 2 people high up in Thorpe management) but I thought if I get banned from the park for a year then it's not too big of a loss, better you lot knowing and me being banned than the other way around.

  7. I really hope loggers does stay, and I hope the tunnel returns. I have so many childhood memories on that ride and I know it sounds stupid but it is my all time favourite water ride, it isn't the best, I've been on far better water rides but I will always have a soft spot for it. It makes me sad seeing the troff filled with stones. I once did 66 rides in one day at summer nights, I literally went round for 10 constant hours, I only got off for lunch. I actually had to throw the clothes I was wearing in the bin as I stunk of the notorious disgusting loggers lake smell.

ps. Who remembers back in the day where nobody got wet on loggers apart from the front seat where a huge wave would flop over the front of the boat. Lol. Ahhh the memories

  8. To be fair last year I think the mazes themselves (bar platform) were actually pretty decent, it's just the actual event of FN which is what annoys me. On 2 of my 4 visits last year it just seemed like a normal peak day at the park with a couple of extra scary attractions plonked down in the park.

I don't usually slate FN but after just looking through my go pro footage from press night, Ive decided I only enjoy it for the mazes.

  9. You will easily get to Thorpe by 11:00 if there is no passport control, coasters should be fine if you are buying fast tack but ghost train is very risky if you want to garuntee getting to the studios in time for your tour.

correct me if I'm wrong but the Warner bros studios is in Hemel Hempstead so with London traffic the journey could take from 45 minutes - 2 hours, personally I wouldn't risk trying to cram it into one day, but If that's all you have then it's better than nothing I suppose

if you were planning on doing chessington or legoland it is a lot easier to share that day with Thorpe park but I don't know how long you are here for or how much spare time you have

let me know if this has been helpful, if it hasn't I'm sorry, if it has I'm more than happy to answer any other questions you have

  10. Was just thinking, if the 2 new kids rides will be permanent attractions, where the hell will all of the queues ect. Go at fright nights

the area was already cramped with 2 queue lines, with the addition. Of 2 more rides and queues the park really are going to struggle with space

also I am very glad rumba has been given some attention, although I think they shouldn't of removed any theming and just painted them up. I really hope the soundtrack is the same as I love it. Also, there are 4 effects I can think of which haven't worked in years, if all of these are fixed the ride could actually get you moderately wet.

effect 1: I've only ever seen it on once, but just as you leave the loading bay there is a water cannon which squirts down the whole first straight section of the ride which got us soaked.

effect 2: before you enter the tunnel water used to fall right down the center which never failed to soak us, haven't seen this one work since 2012

effect 3: the 3 sprinklers before the lift hill at the end, I always remember the time there was a boat jam but they were still on and riders were completely drenched

effect 4: I'm not too sure if this has ever worked but the shower where your photo is taken always seems as if it should do something but never does and to my knowledge never had, someone let me know if it ever did work.

  11. I know I listed my top 5 above but Tbh my favourite maze in terms of experience is probably saw alive, it is always consistent, filled with actors, has great theming and smells, and it is the only maze I go through and get touched at least 3 times. I seriously don't know why it gets so much hate

  12. Unfortunately my first fright nights was 2013 and I have been every year since, but to me 2008-2012 seem like they were the best years for fright nights. I'm extremely annoyed that I never got to experience experiment 10, hell gate, the curse and se7en, which all seem to be consistently rated right at the top in terms of all previous fright night mazes. Luckily in 2013 I got to lead the asylum which was amazing and I'm assuming the freezer was very similar to that, hence why I'm not too bothered about missing out on the freezer.

but anyway my point is can somebody please tell me what was so good about these mazes, especially experiment 10 which is almost always rated as THE best ever fright nights maze. I've only ever heard one bad review about it which was that it was a slightly longer version of MBV with a different theme.

I'm so eager to know why the (IMO reasonably good) mazes now are slated and hated so much.

  13. This is what an ideal 2017 would look like to me:

parkwide theming and audio was good last year, but even more wouldn't hurt.

roaming actors were dyer, barely saw them and when I did they just walked and stared, what the park needs is an actual scarezone just to walk through instead of branding one of the mazes as a scare zone.

a proper and well thought out queue system for all mazes without selling too many fast tracks, if possible bring back the queue line actors, only cabin had them last year.

    in terms of the mazes:

dont touch big top, keep it exactly the same just a couple more actors will be good.

saw Is always lots of fun Imo, idk why people slate it so much, keep it just one more year

platform could be good with narrower outdoor scenes and theming like the old MBV tunnels in the tunnel, with a lot of actors and a better finale it could be really good

scrap Blair witch, make an original maze themed to being lost in the woods with a couple of inside scenes along the way, extend it all the way to rumba instead of the dead pathway at the end.

Keep containment but change up the rooms so people pay for it again, keep it the same quality though.

finally make an original maze in the site of cabin, don't make it free flow but use all the rooms to make it a really long maze with potential to have a good combination of open scenes and narrow corridors, it is a very good make a long, claustrophobic maze

    The end ?

  14. THE CELLAR - I think I built this one up way too much as it was pretty much just the creepy cottage with 5 times as many actors, I wasn't scared at all inside, even made jump, but I still love it. The theming is amazing but it was no where near as scary as I thought it would be. Some very narrow corridors Aswell.

Favourite scene - there was quite a few I liked, but the triangular corridor had to be my favourite with actors banging from both sides.

    Rating - 7/10

  15. Tulleys full in-depth review 2016

    WARNING! Contains Spolilers WARNING!

All of these are reviewed in the order we did them.

HORRORWOOD HAUNTED HAYRIDE - Our first attraction of the night was the hayride the queue was empty, the 3 popcorn girls in the loading bay were a great, fun start to our night. One thing I do have to say about this one is that the trailers are very tight so the actors were stumbling over our legs and trending on our feet the entire time, nevertheless they were very interactive. I wasn't scared once on this one not even with the chainsaw finalé. I think I was expecting way too much from this attraction, it was still great fun, the air cannon and pyrometrics really made me jump, but it was just a live theatrical performance.

Favourite scene - I have 3 that I really love but the winner has to be the finalé with the pig and 2 chainsaw creatures.

(The 2 runners up being "purdy boo's husband" and "Alice in wonderland")

    Rating - 5/10

CREEPY COTTAGE - this is a little gem. I wasnt too excited before this one but I loved it, the squishy floor, the little cut throughs for the actors. Even though there was only 4-5 actors it was very fun and I got at least 3 decent jump scares inside. I was a little embarrassed to say that an animatronic skeleton in a bath made me jump! Not a finalé as such but a great maze with some very creepy audio.

Favourite scene - probably the squishy floor corridor, was very fun.

    Rating - 6/10

COVEN OF 13 - I think coven has been a bit of a mixed bag so far, I had and amazing run through but I can see how some people wouldn't like it, I do think the finale could do with a few improvements but it was unique nonetheless. The fireplace section was really cool and I love how interactive the actors were, I had some really good jump scares in the indoor sections, especially the first scene. The outside and inside scenes really complement each other. it wasn't the scariest maze I have done, but there is just something about it that I love.

Favourite scene - absolutely adore the first scene with the lasers and the inflatables around the legs.

    Rating - 7/10

PANDEMONIUM'S 3D CARNIVAL - I was expecting a long curtains maze after reading reviews of the previous nightshade circus, but I didn't get that. I loved the second half of the maze, it was extremely disorientating and I hit my head twice. There was some amazing props but my only negative was that it wasn't scary. It was a real treat for the eyes and the corridors were extremely narrow. The mixture of props and actors was great also, there was a build up of 3 groups on our fun through though which meant quite a bit of standing still.

Favourite scene - definitely the one with the actor/prop (I actually couldn't tell) had the Air rifle.

    Rating - 6/10

CHOP SHOP - this was my most anticipated maze of the night and I was leading this one, the first half was beautiful and really set the atmosphere. The second half was great! But I was expecting a few more chainsaws, I only saw 5, the actors without chainsaws created some amazing jump scares using the strobes to their advantage. The actors didn't use the cut throughs to their advantage but I got at least 6 jumps in this one. I absolutely loved it and in the final corridor I was cornered by 2 huge 6"6 men. Only other negative was stacking again but that's all.

Favourite scene - does the whole second half count? Actually the first half? I don't know ill just pick that scene with the chainsaw!

    Rating - 8/10

COLONY - wow! The entire maze is just wow. At least 25 actors inside and it lasted over 15 mins. There was one part where it was so dark we had to feel our way around, I counted 3 inflatables which were all very powerful. Everything was just great, the inside scenes, the outside scenes, the finale was amazing. I was sent down one side by myself and the actor literally whacked the chainsaw right in front of my eyes making me fall to the ground. I can't fault anything about this maze apart from stacking again and maybe a little audio but other than that I adore it! I could write so much more but I don't have time.

Favourite scene - 100% the chicken run, there was so many actor cut throughs and they used them so well.

(An honourable mention was the bee hive bang aswell, that made me jump out of my skin)

    Rating - 9/10

HELLEMENTS - I went into this expecting it to be reasonably better than people rate it, I had an open mind going in and I thought being at the back would provide more scares, oh my was I wrong. The fire and wind was amazing and I loved the flooring but it just wasn't scary, I could hear many other screams and screams but I didn't get 1 I only had a little whisper in my ear. The hoods also made it very hot under there making my athsma bad, overall it has potential but it just wasn't done well. Also another stacking problem where the group behind caught up with me.

Favourite scene - the fire was great, the only jump I got.

    Rating - 4/10

unfortunately it won't let me write anymore so I'll do another of the cellar soon/tomorrow.

  16. OMG! Last night was amazing!!!

1-colony - this was literally amazing

    2- chop shop

    3- coven of 13

    4-the cellar

    5- creepy cottage

    6- pandemonium

    7- hayride

8-hellements , I know a lot of people don't rate this but I still went in with an open mind, now I see why its not liked, it was fun but just not scary one bit

And I saw a Thorpe actor with his gf, was going to say hi but didn't know his name.
