  1. I'd be interested in knowing this too! The only fright nights show I've seen in the cinema was the circus of horrors and that's going back a fair few years now lol. If it's just clips of the TV series I'll probably give it a miss but at least it will help (even marginally) with queues.
  2. I'm a maybe not been to a meet before but would like to go.
  3. I have to say I'm quite excited to get both an indoor and outdoor TWD maze! I think zombies will work well outdoors, even with big open spaces they have the potential to be quite effective. And personally zombies terrify me ?. I find it odd they aren't doing scare ratings, maybe they are aiming for them all to be of the same intensity, or the info is yet to be released.
  4. Yeah to get the jump scares from people its best if they don't see them coming. Was amusing when they did that to people glued to their phones. I suppose some people are scared of all horror related things so gives them a place in the park they can go to avoid it all if there's a set route (though I'm not sure why you'd go on a fright night if that's the case but hey ho).
  5. Maybe it's coming back I'm sure they've got the props sat somewhere ? ? Haha it was shockingly awful. The wandering actors last year were great I thought! More of those would be good.
  6. Ahh I loved tulleys last year - imo the haunts are a lot better than Thorpe's overall. Not sure if I'll be able to drag anyone there this year or not as they'll probably say been there done that haha. I went on a Friday (14th October) and apart from the hayride didn't have to queue for anything! Chop shop was a personal favourite, I found I was more scared in the later parts of that maze than I have been for a while (excluding Tom Spindler mazes if anyone was lucky enough to go in those) the actors were terrifying!
  7. To be honest I've not looked too much into it, just sharing what I've read so I wasn't sure if true or not! There are many much more knowledgeable here than I, I just enjoy speculating haha. Nothing on the patent suggests its with Universal so I'm not sure where that idea is coming from exactly. We know universal have done TWD attractions in the past, but as its no longer there anyway and not their IP I think its more people's imaginations running away with the idea. Edit- that bit I found on Wikipedia has disappeared anyway lol
  8. Haha true. Though I think we can be pretty confident now ? Exciting!
  9. Yeah I know. I've read that a trademark has been filed for that name under 'theme park attraction' https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00003244625
  10. I've seen a few pages (Thorpe park central, terror talk and even Wikipedia) that have 'confirmed' the walking dead as the global phenomenon. Nothing from what I can find from Thorpe park themselves though. 'In 2017, Thorpe Park teamed up with universal to bring The Walking Dead: Living Nightmare' (Wikipedia)
  11. Yeah I'm not sure what the whole 'darker than ever' thing is referring to, I guess all will be made clear soon. Still you'd expect them to announce everything by September surely as they need to get hype going and tv ads if it's a big IP. I'm just concerned what a big name like the walking dead will do to queue times for mazes if the total number of mazes doesn't go up... Blair witch is one of the only recent(ish) Thorpe mazes I haven't been in, mainly because queue seems to be like 2 hours plus on weekends and described as being low on scare factor.
  12. Going back to Disneyland this year the week before Christmas. Has anyone been on the updated hyperspace mountain, star tours or POTC? If so how did they find it? Big thunder mountain was shut when I went last time so look forward to that at least. Excited by the changes to come to Disneyland, the magic kingdom in WDW has had quite a lot of work done to it with the new enchanted forest section, it would be nice for Paris to get some updates too as there are some rides in Paris that need retiring (like Pinocchio...). I am also very jealous of California's version of the haunted mansion which features the nightmare before Christmas! The studios is a bit soulless and run down, so I hope it gets a major overhaul.
  13. I also feel a conga line works better for some mazes to keep groups moving, especially if you're in a free flow in a group of more than 8 people then it gets unmanageable and chaotic with people constantly bunching up. Although I have a feeling I had a bad run through on TBT, there were a lot of people in our group and we often ended up clumped together trying to work out where to go so the actors didn't manage to get many scares from anyone as the actors were so heavily outnumbered, whereas in a conga line I think the flow would have been better. The whole thing felt a tad chaotic but not in a good way (I.e. unlike asylum which was crazy but scary and jumpy, conga line worked well for it). I'd like to try it again this year to give it another shot but I doubt my group will fancy queuing up for it again haha. My bloody valentine I enjoyed actually, I found parts of it quite scary and thought the actors were great, however I find weird miners scarier than clowns. Saw alive last year was our favourite, was the most intense even though the group was quite large it was the scariest by far despite it being my 19828th time going through it haha. Platform 15 was a complete flop it needs major help bit annoyed its returning but hopefully it'll be improved. American Horror Story I also haven't watched but sounds like fun! Cabin was always pretty decent for me and had some great scares with brilliant actors, like once where we thought an actor was part of the room's decor we jumped out of our skins lol. More moments like that please Thorpe!
  14. that poster does look very at odds with chessington's vibe as a whole (family friendly). Maybe they are trying to get teenagers more interested in the park...? Bit of a peculiar offering when placed with the gruffalo haha especially if scare mazes like the ones at Thorpe have an age limit. Something like the daytime mazes at tulleys would be good for Chessington (creepy cottage).
  15. I've also not seen the walking dead (mainly as I'm a huge chicken), watched halfway through the first episode then had to turn it off. Can do any maze, but films/tv shows are too much for me. So I'll be doing it without context but expecting big things! Any idea when they'll confirm what the 'global horror phenomenon' is? Just hoping its not going to be done as a 'scare zone' haha. I must be one of the few people that had a very average run through of the big top last year, wasn't that great for me. Not if I compare it to e.g. the chop shop at Tulleys. Hoping with the potential walking dead maze that fright nights will be awesome this year.
  16. When I went to the park the sign didn't suggest there had been an incident like that at all, I suppose as they don't want to upset the kids. All I can say from my trip is that most of the rides are very tired looking especially rattlesnake, Ramases and the inside of tomb blaster. Didn't bother with dragons fury in the end, queue was long! The gruffalo is good for kids and a very short queue but they've wrecked Transylvania now with that ugly paint job! Vampire however was pretty fun so that was the highlight of the day haha, having said that doubt I'd go back (unless with nieces and nephews in tow like this time) the park was roughly what I was expecting given the comments on this forum about (the lack of) work done to it. Shame really used to be more of an all rounder
  17. has anyone used single rider for dragons fury? I'm guessing its still pretty slow to get on? According to their website its in action but I cant imagine its that efficient... Shame they don't have something similar for vampire though. Going to Chessington for the first time in like 12 years in a few weeks, hoping for some nostalgia but I wont expect much from the day other than that haha. I did used to like rattlesnake and dragon falls...
  18. from what I remember (was a bit of a rushed crazy mess), we went to the chamber, the actor said that we need to be evacuated or something along the train tracks, then two of the actors had some sort of fake argument/fight pushing each other supposedly disagreeing about what we should do next, then the lights went out and there was a lot of shouting to get to the next train and to hurry so we don't get infected. There was a lot of running and chaos which I thought is against Thorpe's rules but there you go!
  19. lol that's what I thought after watching the POV, the train scene looked cool but in other places you could see the actors coming pretty clearly even in the dark! A few props or something for them to hide behind wouldn't have gone amiss lol. Still haven't done an outdoors maze yet at Thorpe park, maybe next year! Experiment 10 roamers were really great, plenty of them too, if you walked past you got guaranteed interaction with them and we bumped into them at least 3 times! I felt bad one jumped out at me but I was staring elsewhere so I completely ruined it for them despite their efforts. Some looked quite asylum-esque with the hospital gowns too I should have stalled our group in big top to get a better run though, nobody in the group in front wanted to go through each door so had around 10-15 people in a huddle in each room lol, if I did it on my own or a group of up to 5 people I think it would have been more fun. Music was cool. Still there weren't many actors in my run through and no real ending either just walked out like 'was that it'. I'll try and stop moaning now More actors smaller groups then we're talking. Also the fasttrack queue for saw alive took at least 20 minutes, which was why I think they made the groups as large as possible. But still was the best run through of saw I've done so far!
  20. Should have done that! Though I tried going my own way in the strobe area but the actor turned me around haha though I was getting a bit lost in there. To be fair in the first room she shouted for us to go quickly so we couldn't stand around for long lol. That and before each room the other people didn't want to go first so caused a few build ups of people. Maybe if it was just us 4 it would have been a lot better!!
  21. Glad I'm not the only person who was unimpressed by big top. I think it was due to going through it in a group of about 10/12 people, was too much! Meant it wasn't scary as actor to guest ratio was poor. First actor in opening scene was good but the rest overall I wasn't impressed by. Not joking a clown was literally just walking up and down, looked like a normal person tbh not scary at all. A few good actors but it was laughable how poor it was in many rooms due to lack of actors. I liked the music. But queueing for 90 minutes with it you probably would have lost it haha. Just glad I had a fasttrack but most of my group were unimpressed and didn't want to go in another maze after that. Saw alive was a lot better even though I was in the middle of another large group. Only one actor in bathroom scene but she did a great job and was pretty scary, as did the guy on the bed in one of the rooms with the strobe lighting, very intense and lots of surprises! Happy I'm going to Tulleys next week, otherwise I'd have wanted to do more of the Thorpe mazes but I wasn't that bothered given people's opinions on the others. Platform 15 had a 90 minute queue lol. Roaming actors were good fun, we bumped into them several times, some were more scary/jumping out at people, some were more chatty asking 'what are you looking at' and things like that (which the lady with the clipboard asked just after I took the last photo haha)
  22. Lol sorry to make you choke ? I mean the first VR sequence was cool. I think it could be a cool ride. But so many issues right now it's ridiculous, not worth the money for something that's hardly finished. I was also angry at thorpe's handling of the incident- there were a lot of angry people due to being shoved back into the queue after being on it and it breaking on us which wasn't our fault. Oh and the guest services queue was so long not surprisingly we just gave up as we didn't want to waste any more of our day on it :/
  23. the queue times website is useful for this (queue-times.com) but I think the worst ones tonight queue wise were the big top and P15, but they all had really long queues with nothing dropping below an hour from memory, with some at the 90-120 min mark. I got fast track and did the big top and Saw. In here I'll post brief opinions. Big top- good opening scene, liked the music. Not scary, didn't enjoy it as a scare maze to be honest as I didn't feel scared, was left underwhelmed. Actors often just walked straight past us all without doing anything lol, it also seemed too light in places so we could see them clearly. No chainsaw ending. Friends who were new to horror mazes thought it was rubbish. 4/10 Saw alive - better than previous times, actors were creative in their scares, groups were too large (12 in a group) same in big top which may have affected it. Intense though, 6/10
  24. Right my experience today was downright shocking. We joined the queue at 11.30 before it officially opened, queued for quite a while before getting on. Pre show worked fine. Ride started, and nobody's headset worked apart from 2 people's on the train so we went through the whole first sequence just sat with headsets off to find us in the next part of the station. We went out some emergency exit with them just shoving us into the fast track queue with no communication. We then had to wait another 40 minutes to get on it again as we weren't even at the front of the queue! Had to see preshow again. Then just before getting on it broke down again. So all in all took us around 2 hours despite being in the first 100ish people in the queue!! The evacuation/middle scene didn't work either, I didn't even realise there was supposed to be a train crashing or something, the actors tried to create a scene as much as they could and so we ended up running to the next train, but still not great things are broken. Second VR sequence is awful. Ending was just terrible... who came up with that idea! So I agree it's a shambles they should close it and sort it out! Hopefully they will over the closed period as it has such potential

    Halloween

Halloween build up starts tomorrow for me with fright nights then tulleys on the 14th! Wahoo. Doing some funky Halloween nails tonight too, if they come out good I'll post a pic. Amazing fake wound! For tulleys 2 of my friends want me to do their makeup, a guy and a girl, going to have a lot of fun haha. Any ideas are welcomed, just has to be scary/cool! I'm a big wuss and can't watch horror films or I can't sleep, I think Saw is about as much as I can handle. I watch silly things like nightmare before Christmas, hocus pocus, Dracula, phantom of the opera, beetlejuice, Addams family... I'm so cool
