Being serious for a moment though. I sense most of the negativity towards the name is because of it being similar sounding to Hyperion at Energylandia

Lets be real though, what percentage of the people walking through the gate at Thorpe on any given day actually have heard of even Energylandia let alone Hyperion??

Colossus would have been absolutely slated if it was being built now.

I'm amazed that people are paid good money to come up with this 😂. Hmm what is it? A hyper coaster. What already exists in Europe? Hyperion. We better not use the same name so let's just change a letter or two.

And if they had used the same name you'd be just as critical.

Name is fine, fits in well at Thorpe. Can't wait x

Universal probably have done a toymaker character at one point.

    Also the Chucky franchise exists.

Halloween events are rarely the most imaginative.

If Universal has done a toymaker character then they copied Doctor Who as well ;)

    Looks familiar.

Just so glad it's the normal B&M restraints and not the awful vests. And its definitely the old trains refurbished as you can see the bar connecting the seats underneath the row.

  5. I'm with Benin here, stats seem to correlate very little with rides I enjoy versus ones I don't.

    1. Imagination. This covers a lot of different things but basically, I prefer a well themed, well designed, well paced rollercoaster compared to an off the shelf, generic model. I like to be surprised, taken aback, shown different things. Things like Ride to Happiness, Taron, Toutatis, Nemesis are perfect examples.

    2. High capacity/Reliable. I think there's a lot to be said for excellent operations and a lot of enthuisiasts forgive broken down rides and shoddy operations way too easily. My most recent example is Iron Grawzi. It doesn't matter how excellent it is, if you spend 5 minutes in the break run because of shoddy operations, everyone is going to look and feel bored out of their minds when they get off of the thing. Rides that I love because of their ease of riding are Nemesis, Blue Fire, El Toro.

    3. Fun. Ultimately I want to get off a ride and be overwhelmed and want to run back round and do it all again. Toutatis, El Toro, Nemesis, Ride to Happiness fit those bills and I will just ride and ride and never get bored.

Does anyone have any idea yet on when the retracked Nemesis is likely to open next season?

I imagine they want to have to reopen on the 19th March but anything could happen to stop that.

Used to be 4 platformers, a Fastrack batcher and a RAP person (who usually ended up helping out platforming) for 3 trains.

Not sure if the demand to work at parks is decent these days. But 3 train Vampire was absolutely great to work on, one of the few things I do miss about working at Chessie.

They struggle to employ and retain because the pay is garbage and the working conditions are awful. They've got a management team who think sitting in an office and claiming how great they are is an acceptable way to run a team of people.

They would rather run the park like it's closing down.

Essentially the teams (then 6 platform staff) would have about 30 seconds to unload and load trains in the station. So it was fast-paced environment. Something that probably wouldn’t work now with the higher amount of (post-Smiler) spot checks and queue placements.

Can I just throw out there, that back on 3 trains it was so much fun to get those trains in and out in 30 seconds. Everyone from area managers to ride platformers just put their all into running Vampire to its maximum. Yes it was hard work but it was truly rewarding and it was something that everyone aspired to do well.

In this age of hour long RAP queues and everyone just adding so many levels of faff to what is actually a really easy to run ride, Vampire more then most shows the downfall in standards on a lot of UK rides. Back then, missing 1000 an hour was a disappointment. Now, hitting 400 is seen as an achievement.

  9. I don't think you can blame the public for misunderstanding this one, Thorpe Park themselves market it as one of the most terrifying experiences out there.

This next generation of Ghost Train will take you on a harrowing journey into the realms beneath THORPE PARK Resort to where the supernatural believers call home. Ghost Train is one of the UK’s longest ride experiences featuring live actors and multisensory effects to create a terrifying attraction like no other!

There’s nothing virtual about this petrifying experience, so prepare to meet your maker as you come face-to-face with horrors that dwell within.

  10. Just wanted to say something really positive about Nemesis Inferno. it's lack of dead spots. I was just thinking about rides of similar sizes like Talon, Flight Deck, the Batman clones and Great Bear and they all have really boring bits in them where the train is just repositioning.

Inferno doesn't have that. Even the upper turn after the last inversion, it has some nice power to it. All hail our volcano themed queen.

Hex and Skyride being down for remainder of season really makes me glad I'm not bothering to visit this season.

    Don't forget our dearly beloved.

I'm not really buying what they're saying to be honest. I think its to do with staffing. The way Hex miraculously reopened last year when Duel closed says to me they have recruitment holes that they can't fill.

Yeah what Josh said.  Should imagine it would be quite expensive and quite a project to remove Slammer.  Its a great space for a new flat though.  If it were me I would be planning to develop that space after Exodus opens so that there is a supporting ride for the area.  Also I would probably look at expanding BK2 as I can imagine that's going to be rammed next year

It's purely irrational but I hate it when parks leave their obsolete crap all over the place. And that includes Saw the Ride. 😱

  13. In a pretty swift move, track has arrived for Seaworld Orlando's new rollercoaster which has the code name 'Bobsleigh'. And what is perhaps more surprising is that this family rollercoaster will be yet another B&M. Track has arrived on site and white track has also been seen at B&M's production facilities.

It is rumoured that a lot of the ride will be indoors.

I do feel sorry for the other UK youtubers, why does Coasterstudios get to go on site but Legends like DGOfficial who have been putting in a load of hard work arn't getting any access, seems like access is being gatekept?

It's reach surely. DG95 has 1.32k subscribers, Coaster Studios 234k, many of whom are American and even before his visit to Thorpe, he was referring to Exodus a lot in his content when talking about any Mack ride. Also, why are you acting like Coaster Studios is new to the scene. He's been producing videos for a decade.

DG95 seems more more interested in pushing Prime drinks at me frankly..
