  2. For me, my TP season ended yesterday having jumped in for an extra day due to the changing weather forecast, a great day for me. It could not have happened without the Staff and it would, like life, be easy to thank those who helped me directly. There are many staff whose contributions to that, and all my TP days, are normally not acknowledged. I do thank everybody from the cleaning, washroom, maintenance, management, security, gardeners and ride team, a lot of people. Just like the bus on which I ride to the Park, so seldom do I hear a "thank you". We, as visitors, don't get the chance to wish those well in their futures who, within a few days, won't have a job. Just my thoughts.

  13. Chesington's far worse as you can see the character the park used to have and when you compare to the modern day equivalent, it has lost so so much. The way IP has become an invasive species at Chessington, is far worse then so so so many parks.

  18. Been looking at old videos of Chessington back in the 80's/90's as well. These parks had so much character and charm

  20. The hiring of 300 actors on short term contracts will be the reason.

I've been twice this year and the pop up food stations are mostly unused, compared to the standalone all year round ones, which are busy. Is this normal?
  22. I dont get how multi million pound rides are free and the thrown together maze is a cost
  23. Barely much left from those days. No chill ride on the waterboat from the farm. No CCR or Loggers Leap. Spent many a time on the crazy golf or in model world. Good old nostalgia eh?

Hyperia opened 2 months after park opening. Then broke for what, another 2 months (certainly felt like that long) after a day? Plus cost of living crisis etc. And no doubt the changes to RAP made many not bother.
  25. This, and this alone, is reason enough for me to never visit Fright Nights on a pay-per-maze basis.

I don't know if it's still the case (but I expect it is), but theme parks / companies are under no obligation to be truthful to TEA for reporting their attendance figures. Obviously they can't outright lie, but their numbers don't have to be accurate. I've been aware of some parks' TEA numbers being off by 300,000 in the past. So definitely take with a pinch of salt. They'll be good ballpark numbers, but obviously could be off by 10-20% in some instances. In the context of Thorpe, I'm going to outright say I don't believe the 2023 figure. The 2024 figure seems plausible. But just from my visits, I do not see how 2023 ended up being more visited than 2024. I caveat this by saying I'm just going off my experiences, so I could be completely wrong. The big question is - if Merlin haven't necessarily been truthfully accurate with their attendance figures - why have they made Thorpe seem like it's had a big attendance dip when they open a big brand new ride? Surely it would make sense to keep the fabrication alive and make it seem like Hyperia had a positive impact? Few possible factors. Could be that they are now reporting more accurately. Or they could blame 2024's "poor" performance on Hyperia's reliability. Or they could pin it to Hyperia opening in May. It could be part of a narrative they're building that will see increases in 2025 and how Hyperia is a long-term draw. Who knows. As I say, I simply don't believe that Thorpe's attendance dipped from 2023 to 2024. I could be wrong, and I'm no doubt sounding pig-headed stubborn right now, but that's a hill I'm currently going to stand on right now.

Its being reported that Thorpe had an 8% drop in attendance last season, the highest drop on the list. https://x.com/ThemeParkWW/status/1981330874747531338/photo/1 Really concerning with that obviously being Hyperias opening year, and this season seeming quieter? The same thing happened with Swarm and then we had to wait 12 years for a coaster... Also strange to me that Towers seemed to have quite a lot of cuts throughout the season last year and Thorpe didn't, despite the difference in attendance.

  32. The park have released an hour-long interview with Fright Nights management about this year's event. There's some cool insight about things and is well worth a watch. Will share my thoughts about some things discussed at a later point.
  33. I think it's very difficult to get all rides at Tokyo Disney to be honest, unless you are there at a cross over point. I was fortunate to have all the rides at both parks (aside from the under construction space mountain) and IMO Disney Sea is the finest theme park out there. Just thinking about Sinbad or Journey to the Centre of the Earth has me looking up flight prices..

  36. I visited both Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea, as part of a recent trip to Japan. The resort has an interesting layout in how the main park is practically by the main train line and sea had to be accessed by a monorail loop. With the shopping village between the two, which looked more standardised then ones in the other parks. Leaving the resort is perhaps one of the main gripes, as the large amount of guests leaving by it feels a bit like leaving a large scale concert from somewhere like Wembley. Now onto the parks. Tokyo Disneyland: The park has a mixed design balance between Cali and Florida’s Magic Kingdom, which understandably makes sense as the third Disney resort in the world. The classics varied, with POTC better then floridas but not Cali & Paris, my favourite Small World but possibly weakest Mansion (variant), Peter Pan and Tomorrowland. However the latter may be unfair at the moment due to the extreme renovations especially with Space Mountain 2.0. However what makes up the park is the current old school classic Disney feel. The extremely friendly enthustic cast members, non scheduled meet and greets and other superfluous changes. There were lots of parades ( including an electric one) and the delight of riding Splash Mountain (albeit in Japanese). The new Beaty & The Beast dark ride was incredibly delightful in every way and Pooh’s Honey Hunt still stands its ground, ad the first trackless dark ride. It just had that classic Disney feel which MK Florida lacked so loved it here. Disneysea Visiting this park has always been a bucketlist for me and it didn’t fail to disappoint. Except being spited Journey & Indy. Darn. Despite this, it was a wonderful place to visit, bearing some of the most strong and immersive theming to be seen in any park in the world. From Venetian canals to the striking mount Prometheus in the centre. Tower might lack the thrill of the others, but the design and story is incredible in every way, 20,000 leagues is highly unique and Sinbad ride delightful with a catchy soundtrack. Fantasy Springs is just wonderful. Frozen is clearly the showstopper here with mind blowing effects (even for those not the biggest fans), Neverland Adventure an interesting and modern variation of Pan and Tangled a delight, if a bit on the short side. Other additional attractions were pleasant to experience both unique and copies, the alien motchi balls are a must when visiting (subject to dietary guidelines). For a variety of reasons I consider Tokyo Disney my favourite resort, even surpassing Californias and surpassing Orlando in a number of ways IMO. Would recommend.

  38. I know it's the red tinted glasses but I love looking back at the videos of Thorpe from the 80's and 90's. There's an innocence to the park that doesn't really exist anymore.
  39. Great news, thanks.

  41. Had some night rides on her tonight and she is definitely running much smoother. Making the crest absolutely fine and only had a 5 minute small hiccup today. Engineers were straight out. Reset the ride and all back up and running again. Absolutely lovely coaster at night 😀 Massive thanks to Thorpe Park and their engineers for getting her back 😊
  42. Welcome 😀
