  1. Really? This, coming from the person who is still awaiting a Merlin response. Tell me you're playing with the truth....
  2. Hey,

how did you assessment go? Hope everything went FANTASTICALLY!

  3. Rawwwwwr. That was a roar of bizarre happiness, kinda. That message was in itself a rollercoaster. The second line in and... ARGH.BUT the rest, coolio. I am now (and this is scary) even MORE excited that I could work there, and I could have a phone call soon.Seriously, there's gonna be an explosion if they call up!Thanks guys, I'm now back on my Thorpe induced high.x
  4. Three things...1) You're damn right Waiting for Merlin to get back to you after an assessment is an EXTREMELY anxious period2) Thank you! I completely love you. But not like that. Now I can remain sane for a maximum of another 24 hour period.3) Were you successful at Chessington? Hope so! Were you successful Mark? And how the heck did they contact you in the end!? (This was Thorpe Park, right?)
  5. Hello from the world's now most officially over-anticipated-completely-hyped-and-almost-dead-from-the-waiting guy.I went to the Assessment Centre last Wednesday, they said they'd let you know within 7 days (I know it says 14 on the website, but the guy said 7 and some else who'd just finished their interview said it was 7).Perhaps in this time of eager anticipation, I can't count, but surely 7 days from LAST Wednesday runs out today? They said they e-mail you if it's a NO and phone you if it's a YES.I resisted the urge to want to say 'I'll keep my phone nearby then'. That would have made me a cocky git.But I haven't heard ANYTHING.I've checked my e-mails (wishing majorly for nothing to be there...) and been jumping at every text (not like there's millions, but you know) on my phone.I knew I really wanted to the job before this *waiting zone* began. But now I ultra-extremely-upgraded-for-2007 want the job. In my eyes it's got to be one of the best jobs on the planet. But I've heard nothing... and so the paranoia begins. Is it: no contact because they've lost my documents... no contact because it's a no and someone's cocked up sending the e-mail out... no contact for some bizarre unknown other reason which I completely can't think of. "No news is good news...? Good things come to those who wait?... Applicants should receive their reply within 7 days...?"Should I ring them? Yes I am way too eager but that might seem pushy. Then again, they might think someone has contacted me where they haven't.I'm more confused than the story of X:\NWO. Arggggggh. I want to join in the excitement. I'd give it my all, and just hope I've persuaded them. What do I do? I'm throwing myself at the mercy (and rather helpful) advice of you LOVELY people.x
  6. Ooh *excited*. I just read your last comment asking fi you worked inside The Asylum.. which impressed me completely and locked me into asking.. did you?! Tell alll!!

Cheers for clearing that up!I feel 0.1% less stupid now.

I'm giggling like a little girl at some of the stuff in this topic! Creme eggs...mcdonalds...and Margaret Thatcher!? You crazy dudes! Love it!I have a boringly unfunny question- you know when you're browsing the forum, and it shows whose online, are...Google.com, Google Adsense, Yahoo.comactually, well, what you'd think?I might be the biggest fool in history. I am aren't I?
  9. Thanks Michaela! I'm guessing you worked at Thorpe but don't any more? How many people do they usually want from their assessment centre days? I mean do they usually pick quite a few, or just a few (I'm talking complete crap! Sorry!)? Were you in Rides then? It's odd 'cos I asked how many people work at TP on the day and they said 700 in peak season, 200 in closed season. Does that sound right? I mean 700 staff... am I being stupid, it just seems one hell of a lot. After my random waffling I shall now go outside and stick my head inside an upside down oven, just to confuse myself.
  10. Haha. Yes, I suppose I did forget to mention which Assessment Centre, but this topic is Jobs at Thorpe Park! 14 days, eh? Oh joy, I so wanna know now. I'm such an impatient muppet.
  11. Hey, has anyone who went to the Assessment Centre on Wednesday heard anything back yet? I might be a bit too over eager, but I can't bear the waiting!
  12. PRE-COMMENT WARNING: I hate rumours based on random crap, I wouldn't post this unless I believed it to be true.I was at the Assessment Centre on Wednesday, and in my individual interview, I said how Thorpe parks rides are second to none (IMHO). The guy interviewing me said that Thorpe Park was just developing and still had a lot of growing to do (sounds really positive!). He said 'M.H.F.Safari' had been removed ready for development for a new ride for 2010 and there would be another coaster in 2 years!Reading it back it could be regarded as utter shizz. But it's what he said! Just thought I'd throw it into the discussion. I don't do rumours, I heard it from thsi guy - it could be inaccurate but he said it, and I was ridiculously excited by it!
  13. So this year's main season 'on the gate' price is £35. (Alton's main season OTG price is £36).Didn't THORPE PARK start with £32 last year, then put it up to £33 *somewhen* between main season and summer, and then put it up again to £34 just before Fright Nights? If that's right, do you think we'll be expecting £37 on the gate entry to Fright Nights?I know there's virtually no one who pays the gate price, with all the Annual Pass and 2 for 1 deals but still, a little bit ouch.Nick Varney (the guy in charge of Merlin) said...“When people say to me we are expensive - well, for six to eight hours of high-quality entertainment and education, a clean environment and great customer service, then I say: ‘Please tell me why that's expensive.'”Interview: http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/busi...icle4601944.eceJust thought I'd throw this in and see what people think. I know everyone thinks Thorpe should clear up their park (and maybe act) a bit, but I for one think that since Merlin appeared on the scene they are trying their hardest to change things for the better. But still, does that justify a one day £35 entry?!
  14. Thanks for clearing up the Hellgate/Station XNWO thing for me!

Is this... (from the SAW topic, off topic...)the bag room in XNWO?As I lose all sense of which bit of the pyramid I'm in, where abouts is Hellgate in the pyramid? I know it's by Colossus, but when you're inside the pyramid, does anybody actually know whereabouts it is? Like, is it by that fire exit that appears to open into another dark room after the ramp bit just before you go round the corner and get to the *new and not improved* bag room? Also, I know sound proofing does wonders but someone told me that on XNWO on Fright Nights you can hear some noise from Hellgate (screams, mainly). Can you? I never have.Thank you cool theme park people!
  16. I know it's not necessarily a definitive source, but on lastminute.com it says...Please note: New ride Saw is not available until the main season starts on March 20. I thought the countdown on the ride website ran out March 13th, and main season would start the next day? Here's the link...http://www.lastminute.com/site/entertainme...mp;catID=110608
  17. Ooh - what happened in 'behind the loops', I don't remember it being said on the forums (and I know you're probably not allowed to say too much), but a general idea? I'd love to hear what it was like!
  18. Sorry to be an idiot, but what is a three-click challenge?
  19. Did the Canada Creek Railway always go through a 'tunnel' section?Or am I just majorly misinterpreting this photo (it's from the latest SAW construction photo update)
  20. Are they shutting Loggers early for Fright Nights this year?We went on Sunday (19th) and it was open all day, but at 8pm-ish when we went over there for a ride in the dark it was shut, drained and no one was in sight. Odd, because last year we had great fun on it! Maybe people weren't behaving on it in the dark last year...?
  21. Think they could have gone to the effort of having new videos rather than just re-using last eyar's for Hellgate, The Asylum and Seven - and while 'The Curse' video is a little basic, it's enough to entice me.The Thriller one's mad!
  22. phew. glad I'm ot the only fright-night-frightened.

but I mean, a bunch of actors, some make up, expensive effects and darkness. why is that sooooo scary? they won't actually hurt anyone. rarrrghhh. it's so annoying. 'cos right now I'm thinking "yeh, I'll go through the mazes, no problem, it'll be a laugh". In one month's time, it's "maybe... no

  23. "Interestingyness"Looks like Pirates 4D went across the pond, state-side. I don't know how I came across it, but I pasted it below. for source-ness, I found it here. clicky.(it's 11 paragraphs up from the bottom of the page)SeaWorld San Diego Located on Mission Bay, this 150-acre park features five major shows and dozens of exhibits containing marine life from around the globe, including Wild Arctic, Penguin Encounter, Shark Encounter, and Manatee Rescue. SeaWorld San Diego’s newest attraction, ‘‘Pirates 4-D,’’ is a humorous tale of a hapless crew and its wacky captain; the film stars actors Leslie Nielsen and Eric Idle. More than a movie, ‘‘Pirates 4-D’’ introduces a fourth dimension to the traditional cinematic experience, using special effects to produce sprays of water, blasts of air and other wild surprises.SeaWorld San Diego’s newest show, Cirque de la Mer opens in May. Cirque de la Mer takes guests on a journey....I didn't know they had anything going in America, other than the billions of Madame Tussauds' going up everywhere. Why would they sell it to America? I thought it was gonna end up at Alton, or do a swap with Gardaland. Am I being stupid?Ta
