Some Stealth merch in 2006 was still labeled 'Edge' too.

I do hope they get these up for the main season. Whilst I understand rides waiting parts can take time, I do expect most of those to be operational by then. I would usually visit the park early on, but these days don't bother, as I still find it strange so many people expect rides to be down at Thorpe Park. I haven't replaced my AP for the last 3 years for this reason, and I am certainly not paying, and gambling on ride availability so early on. However yes... X.. It looks very strange seeing it now with the Arena hillside and seating area gone!

So no Loggers tunnel. Are any of surprised? No. But to turn this comment into a positive; Depth Charge looks all new again, only 15 years late, so there's still hope for the tunnel.

Hocus Pocus Hall had a jungle..

Well the Krake maze has also gone way of Saw Alive and is gone. This addition screams of the need for something new, something that's ONLY point is to get guests in THIS year. They're not thinking about the lasting power. Exactly the same for Chessington too.. They're after quick IPs that they can use to draw guests in. It's all driven by marketing, and this years numbers, not the future.
-
Chessington have this whole thing where it offers 'unique family adventures' they want all bases covered, so if this had to be forced on us, then it would have suited them better.

This is brilliant! Great addition Thorpe. Although seriously I think Benin nailed it. Do we need such cr@p just for the sake of something new? I assume that it's a knee jerk reaction to loosing Ranger County, under what will be a mass of marketing hoarding ready for 2016. As always, Merlin just don't get QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. We didn't need this, and no one cares.
-
It's likely to be a testing thing. All the dive coasters work well with the holding brake (except if you're Sheikra's second dive). Merlin have copied everything else with this, so I doubt they'd go original on a holding brake!
-
Not 'way too much', but 'totally false' hype. Letting a 12 year old coaster fan come up with the marketing for a ride they haven't seen, is kinda what Towers did with that.. However, yes! This could be a great little addition, I look forward to see how they operate it.

I'm just *sure* that H&S would have all the correct risk assessments in place this time, before doing anything like that.. Wasn't there an actual reason the cave was heated?
-
It received that bit of attention with added details, as the park were unhappy with the finished result from MMM. It seems things don't always look like their design art work, and objects (scorpions) may look bigger on paper than in real life. Silly I know..

Falls and Runnaway look over sadly. 'If only they checked the status of us years before our knee-jerk removal.' I'm sure that all of the woodwork around (and including the pre-show room) of Zufari has been built to last. Right Chessington??

The image above was one created as an entertainment car, with inbuilt sound effects, sometimes smoke that 'an explorer' coughsirArthurCough actor could drive and interact with guests. There were others looked into following that one also.

I must admit, I've kept clear of any hype surrounding this after I saw it was the same old Merlin marketing affair. I do like the smaller dive machines, Krake is just wonderful, although I admit that it doesn't really bring anything to the dive coaster abilities. I do wonder if there's a reason behind the fact this thing still hasn't got a name, it's been dragged out way too long, and I'm suspicious Merlin are struggling for a name themselves! IF it IS named Oblivion it will be the most epic thing Merlin could ever do. No one could ever argue again that any 'magic' from their 'magic makers' would be completly dead, and clear that the studios are run by a bunch of office workers, rather than creatives. For anyone who's ever been down to the computer/office setting of the resort theme parks division, would already suspect as much. Bottom line, there's no way this can be called oblivion... Is there??!

I'll skip this completly. Limited ride availability, one train on those coasters open, large queues in the cold, limited food outlets open, and still sore from the previous winter openings give me little faith. I'd have hoped they would want to demonstrate the event can work well, not put people off even more. At the end of the day it's decided, so as Mark said, pointless complaining and then paying for a day of limited fun.
-
This is pretty brave considering the last Feb openings. Either they have a super new engineering team, or they know the weather is going to be warm enough (for Thorpe's standards) to running the rides. I remember Stealth having an enormous line, as the ride line ups other main thrill open was Vortex. Not enough rides open. Too much downtime for those rides that were open, and not enough open food outlets, I believe was the bulk of it. In fact tell a lie, GS had just as long a line as Stealth! If it works out for them, then great! I'm all up for parks opening earlier, but it needs to be worth it.

Are you saying that in the case of 'Storm Surge over flooding Amity' that it would look terrible? If so, I guess that was Merlin's bright idea when they made it look so bad, although theming should represent a creative vision of what it would like 'destroyed', not just paint it too look awful
-
Glad everyone likes the new addition, I hope the cat out of the bag early on prepared everyone for what will be another exciting addition to their already wild adventures.. This will make falls look so much better.. Hopefully next year with the tomb re-do?
-
Looks like a big old support structure for a load of safety nets there.. Unless there's going to be a really cool theming element installed....
-
Unless they re-vamp the dome, to an all year round entertainment area for 'hotel' guests and even locals. I know it's been talked about, but with 2016 happening, it's prob taken a lot of money away from whatever was discussed for the dome.
-
That version actually looks better than Saw! I wonder how it rides considering that Saw is the most uncomfortable Eurofighter that I've been on. Swap it with Krake already, or atleast a clone of the beast at Hansa, which has more scare, more atmosphere, more everything infact.. Apart from constant jolts and an IP (win win).

Er, think you forgot this classic bit of audio.. http://www.filedropper.com/001duckhatchery

Basically, if it was themed and fully animated with water effects, spinning water wheels, and a quirkiness of something like Ripsaw Falls, it would be quite fun and interactive. What we got is none of those things, and I think the reason it gets hated so much (apart from looking god awful), is that it's a big ugly reminder of how much Merlin Magic Making give a ****e.

Low confidence in Merlin?

  That's awesome.
