There is a switch in the console that turns them on and off, likely they weren't switched on or the operator switched them off

Hello last spring.
Surprised it wasn't mentioned after this post, but the theming element is no longer missing although you'd be hard pressed to notice it wasn't. Really, it is tiny sitting atop this ride, the scale is all wrong. It just looks bizarre, with some big sort of padding thing below it and a relatively tiny motif on top. The base has colourful stones in sections, but this is full of detritus from the trees so just looks messy. The ride itself is also quite broken, with a couple of elephants (including the yellow one I found myself on) very obviously not able to make it more than a couple of feet off the ground.
When small but IP led retheme investments are this bad you know something is deeply wrong at the heart of what is happening here.
The ride cant seem to lift much weight these days.... ( I'm not saying your big lol) more that any elephant with an adult doesn’t go full height

I know it’s not funny what happened and I’m guessing the people in the boats would have been miffed at the very least but your wording here is just brilliant 🙌🙌
What happened lol boat mounting boat ?

There is no easy answer other than everyone gets the same virtual queues.... and we all know how successful version 1 was ....

Food luck to anyone at Thorpe today .... low temperatures and half a day of snow on forecast

TBH if the gas ball was rotting so badly it was probably a risk of rusty metal fragments getting in the water / splash down which could have lead to injurys. Or collapsing all together.
Whilst I wish it was like for like replacement I'm sure the budget wasn't what it needed to be to facilitate

The new boats on the rapids are a good move given the history there. Wouldn't be surprised if others didn't follow suit..

Is the area at the back of the bbq tent still unused?
or dismantle that S&S SBNO and you have a nice area

I haven't visited on a really busy day in a long time, so my take might be skewed a bit. But from what I've seen, a big issue always feels like the number of security officers doing bag checks was never enough to cope with the mass crowds. Especially when compared with, for example, Towers.
Using the old Admissions huts probably hasn't helped to a degree, given they create a bottle neck. I think the introduction of the marquee with the scanners helps spread things out more. That's obviously where a redesign would help. But without the staff to back that up, it wouldn't make a massive change.
Loosing the old addmissions huts ruined the look and feel of the area along with the amount of staff processing on the day customers aside from the fencing, security would/could have been much better placed.

From what I understand, the funfair rides have been hired from fair operators and they will be operated by the fairground staff.
As such, I would expect little modifications made to the rides themselves (though it would be nice).
I'd also be surprised if they stayed beyond this year. It's a mutually beneficial situation. Towers get extra rides to spread numbers about (and maybe show the powers that be at Merlin flat rides are necessary investments). The ride owners make money whilst fairs aren't allowed to open. Win win.
Come 2022, fairs should hopefully be allowed to open, and Towers might be in a better situation. If Towers wanted to buy one of the rides, it would probably be easier to buy it for new from a manufacturer.
Or they could carry on a relationship with the fair industry as we all know fair rides can be well themed if the budgets there... winter wonderland says hello...
Different flat rides in the park every year keeps the lineup fresh etc

It was filmed in 1999 so the wild mouse was
not sure if this featured in the video
The ladybird coaster/apple coaster listed on RCDB all show they closed before 1999, so who knows with that.

Zodiac was definitely, but it at least got a lick of paint and themeing before it died and got replaced by Drayton's one.
Can't remember with Det. Probably was given the location on WWH.
Detonator was I think granted temporary planning permission, but was later resubmitted to keep it permanently

Will be interesting to see if Alton are operating and maintaining themselves or if they have hired with staff provided.
All in all the ripsaw site is back in use, will be interesting to see where they put the dodgems and waltzer.

Most of Rush also seems to still be missing from that picture too! Is it definitely returning? Because I’m pretty sure it won’t be ready for the start of the season
Half of Samurai is missing too ...... however Colossus has a train on the track

Intamin for roller coasters (if only they had better operational uptime) and KMG (flat rides) for the sheer fear factor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9LoBCH2ozw) <- I mean who else could make a transportable 62m fairground ride that's undoubtedly terrifying?
Its basically a 32 seater booster lol .... park model

Just when I think this project is dead, it crawls out of the woodwork, once again! It's hard to fathom that this could actually be happening now. When was this meant to be opening again? Wasn't it 2016? 😂
Its better than nothing...
