  1. Moving forwards in my view,

it needs a 8 Million spent just tarting up attraction’s cosmetically, and Colossus new trains.

Itneeds to continue to invest in thrills but also needs to re introduce theme park staple attractions that are suitable for the whole family,

Something similar to Wicked witches haunt re-imagined, a decent family area. I am probably in terms of GP among a large proportion of perspective customers who have younger children, and quite simply haven't been to thorpe in 2-3 years (other than for the beach this summer) for the simple fact its not fair on the kids they have 3 rides suitable for my eldest. And absolutely nothing for my youngest.

I get it’s a Thrill Park, but to have a family day out we need to cater for whole families to have a good day aswell.

I will use Adventure Island as a perfect example it’s primarily a thrill park on the Coast, but it caters for everyone and does it well.

The company who are behind the scenes of Shocktoberfest, Frightmare, Halloscream, and The Howl all kind of oppose touch scares. I guess from what I've seen at Alton it can be a great thing, but at Thorpe it has never really phased me or enhanced the experience. I think it depends on the attraction at hand, maybe Hellements would be well suited? Basically the reason of oppose is due to touching guests and being that close to them is a risk for the actors- if someone is drunk or reacts wrongly, it could cause more incidents than its worth. So I am unsure they'd ever take the dip.

Doom Town though is extremely interesting though- I love the 80s vibe it brings, and zombies has not been done really by Tulleys surpisingly! I think the game and perhaps 80s tint could bring some freshness, I do have no idea what this attraction shall look like, but I am excited to find out.

Electrick circus remains my current intruige of the day- I cannot wait to see the next generation of Tulley's clown maze.

The old set was completely destroyed, it will also no longer be 3D 😉

    I don’t understand it either.
The tech has been blamed for many years, but if that’s the case why can’t it simply be fixed by a professional or replaced with something that works?

The whole concept of park wide audio and its initial implementation is a mess from 07/08.

Agree that allowing standard ticket holders to do redos will unfortunately result in the more 'popular' mazes having a much longer queue, whilst perhaps any maze that is more 'average' will have a shorter queue as people may think, why do a scare rating 6 or 7 when I can redo a 9 or a 10?

However, now the cats out of the bag of allowing redos, could they ever go back to one go per haunt for standard tickets? Is this some sort of test run? I don't know.

I have open dated tickets and struggling to pick when will be the least busy time, I went on a random weekday in mid october last year and there was a long queue to even get in the car park, all the mazes had long waits, and that was on a day with torrential rain!

the videos I have seen again of this doom patrol maze suggests there is some sort of game and one guy is wearing a blockbusters shirt, I don't quite get the theme myself but perhaps later videos will be a bit clearer.

The earlier you go in the season are the quieter nights, basically Friday Saturdays are busiest.

Does anyone remember when in 2011 Alton Towers planned to build this area. Far Far Away was proposed to be a rethemed amalgamation of Storybook Land and Old McDonald’s Farmyard. Unfortunately at the last minute Dreamworks pulled out. It’s thought that Dreamworks didn’t like the artist’s plans of the site. Apparently  Dreamworks thought Merlin was inferior to them. It’s a great shame that Dreamworks opted out. A Shrek themed land would have catered for all ages. There’s not many Theme Park areas that Grandparents would enjoy as much as kids.  Who else shares my opinion that it’s a pity the area featured in the linked video didn’t make it to Alton Towers. When I say there isn’t many Theme Park areas that appeal to all,I mean at Alton Towers. Chessington has areas that entertain all. For example Chessington has a large Zoo. This is an area that people who aren’t into rides enjoy. I think

CBeebies Land that now occupies the plot is geared towards Children under the age of 8. I personally think Alton Towers shot themselves in the foot. Old McDonald’s Farmyard had something for all. The Animals gave people who don’t like rides something to appreciate. Let’s face it who doesn’t love Animals. CBeebies Land in my opinion is an annoying attraction. It wastes a space where a multi generational area or Rollercoaster could be. The programmes on CBeebies change quicker than Alton Towers can adapt to. For example Tree Fu Tom Training Camp and Charlie and Lola’s Moonsquirters And Green Drops have only been rethemed this season. This is despite both programmes being axed years ago. I fear that CBeebies will invade what’s left of Adventureland and result in the removal of Spinball Wizzer (Sonic Spinball).

Just because an attraction/area isn't to your taste or target market , doesn't make it bad.

Cbeebies is one of the biggest successes of alton towers in the past 10 years it caters for its age group well, it could do with 1-2 more inclusive rides. But what it is, is great for the people its designed for .

So ElecTrick Circus has been announced- Twisted's replacement.

The maze probably will include shock panels similar to the volt, and has seemingly a very cool concept and a refreshing twist on the Tulleys Clown Maze, which has been warping and evolving since 2009 now. I love how they're making their clown maze editions unique. I believe the entire thing has been rebuilt probably with a new layout and very much its own thing. RIP Twisted Clowns though!

A new haunt will be announced on Friday, with an advertised 10 scare rating. This is going to be very interesting having a whole new attraction from the ground up. I can't wait to be able to explore both as a guest or potentially an actor.

Yes you were right that twisted was demolished straight after last years event after being stood built for so many years in the elements (marquee)

The new set will be a more permanent build attraction, as they say with construction 🚧 the only way is up…

  7. Thorpe park brought a completely new train when the fish reopened, along with a completely new ride system, the track was the only part that was re-used.

It also isn't where Colossus is today, it was where stealth was built. covering the sunken gardens model world and the fish.

It lost all its character and what made the fish good when it was brought back, unlike scorpion express all the track areas were sectioned off and covered in hedges and plants, meaning the layout was largely hidden from site and you wouldn't have known the figure 8 layout existed. The proximity and close calls made it what it was.

scorpion express never got the refurb or new train like the fish did.

Scorpion Express has been removed from the Chessington app. To me this shouts that the ride could permanently close. Whenever a Merlin Theme Park removes a ride from a map,it usually signals the end of the particular ride. Furthermore there were rumours a few years ago that due to it’s age and unreliability Scorpion Express would close. I think the fire may have caused this rumour to become reality. Chessington will probably deem it non economical,to repair an ageing and unreliable ride. If the rumours were true why would Chessington invest in a ride that’ll close soon.  I don’t know wheather to take this for gospel. The same message also stated that Seastorm would close. Obviously this was wrong as Seastorm has recently reopened following a complete refurbishment.

This is the message I received. From a member of a Facebook group I belong to.

I was asked this on the post  but its Scorpion Express and Seastorm if it happens that is but as I said already when you hear the same rumour more than once it usually happens x

Your welcome to your own opinion , the app is nothing in the scheme of things, towers remove rides from the app if they have extended down time regularly, the ride was only refurbished a few years ago.

I stand by what I said, until anyone is actually aware of the damage sustained no one here can make a judgement, the final decision will be with the team at Chessington/merlin.

Its unlikely that a decision has been made yet, the ride is also still listed as an attraction on the website.

Hi, I think the most sensible decision would be to remove Scorpion Expres. As much as it pains me as it’s a favourite of mine. The ride is ageing and becoming unreliable. It’s been rumoured to be leaving for a few seasons. I think this fire is the final nail in the coffin. Could Rocky Express from Thorpe replace it? Rocky is similarity themed to Scorpion Express. Alternatively the Scorpion Express plot could remain vacant for future development. I expect by the end of the season Chessington will announce wheather Scorpion Express will return next year. What is your opinion on what should happen to this Chessington classic?

    No

    no

    No….

none of us actually know what happened in scorpion valley, unless you can provide some evidence to prove we are talking serious damage, it is unlikely to just be removed.

if were talking train damage then that is replaceable/ and may even be able to run as a shorter train short term ( logically yes) if the ride system will accept missing carriages is another.

it is to soon for any speculation as to what the future holds

  10. So the main lego hotel is ablaze 🔥

obviously feel for anyone due to stay tonight, but this is on the main access drive for the park. Hopefully it has no knock on issues for access.

    Edit

Although its of smoke, it seems mainly to be exterior damage

Chainsaws will have actual chains on for 10/10 scares.

One would assume that one maze is the "electric" shock type one reimagined, and the other is maybe the extension to Wastelands, but we shall see... one of the new mazes is presumably inside the old Clowns building since that's gone, unless that is going to be used for something else. Maybe the electric ? is for Superspark Cinema for some ultimate Thorpe Park FN burn haha - incorporate the Usherettes into the maze somehow? Or is that just wishful/wistful/lustful thinking?! 😍😁

As mooted though, scare factors don't mean too much as some of my scariest run throughs have been on Creepy Cottage to be honest - simple but effective scares with strobes etc!

Still -  I am "gassed" for Tulleys, bring on PSL season and I can become a basic b*tch again oncemore.

The twisted clowns maze was in a marquee, and the area completely demolished….. so technically there was no building ….

What you on about?? This is true Disney killer quality!!

I have actually now decided after careful consideration to cancel my october outing to Walt Disney World. I dont see ANY point paying a small fortune and then flying 9 hours across the atlantic to go ride Rise Of The Resistance or Flight Of Passage when we have the super detailed pinnacle of theme park theming in the form of Trawler Trouble at our very own chessington!

    Thats good then 😉

took the trouble to cancel your Disney booking for you as it was still active 😉
