  1. I'm a total Inferno fanboy but I'm looking forward to riding the original in ~3 weeks' time. I've never heard Nemesis' music but surely it can't beat the thumping bass and glockenspiel of Inferno?!
  2. Detonator is fine as it is - I dunno about most people but for me, it's a one-ride-per-visit thing. It does what it needs to and it really doesn't need to be taller. Nor does it need to be stand-up.
  3. Normally I try to go on weekdays when the queues are all <30mins but at an absolute maximum:SAW - 1hrInferno - 1hrColossus - 1hrStealth - 30minsDetonator - 30minsSamurai - 30minsDepth Charge - 30minsLogger's Leap - 30minsRocky Express - 20minsQuantum - 10minsFlying Fish - 10minsX:\ - it would have to be walk-on and everything else would have to be >90 minutes. Although I was talked into it the other day. FML.
  4. I did look for the pens the other day when I went but couldn't see any in the Saw store or the megastore - that's why then!
  5. 14th May queue times (times given are the shortest and longest I saw/experienced for the whole day):SAW: 5-20minsColossus: 15-45minsStealth: 10-20minsInferno: 10-25minsDetonator: 5minsRush: 5-10minsSamurai: walk-on, repeat rides allowedLogger's Leap: walk-on, repeat rides allowedSlammer: 10mins (but was closed after about 3pm)Tidal Wave: 5minsX:\NWO: walk-onRocky Express: walk-on, repeat rides allowedQuantum: walk-onFlying Fish: walk-onDepth Charge: walk-onRide Count:SAW: 5Inferno: 2Colossus: 2Stealth: 2Samurai: 2Logger's Leap: 2Detonator: 1Depth Charge: 1Rocky Express: 1X:\NWO: 1
  6. Too many to list, but hopefully (if I get enough cash together!) going to America on a bit of a tour next summer. If all goes to plan we're going to SFMM, SFGA, Cedar Point, Busch Gardens Africa, Hersheypark, Kennywood, Kings Dominion and Dorney Park, among others I can't remember. The rides I'm most looking forward to are:MaverickRiddler's RevengeTTDSheikraGreat BearX2KumbaMillennium ForceGoliathHydraDominatorRaptorI'd also like to give Dragon Khan a go, as well as Black Mamba.
  7. Cool, thanks for the help. Are taxis from the park to the station readily available (I know I've definitely seen taxis waiting at Staines station to go to Thorpe Park, but not sure if I've ever seen taxis waiting at TP to go back to the station - is it a similar situation for Alton)? The reason I ask about taxis is that our coach back to London leaves Stoke on Trent at 6.35 - AT closes at 5.30, so getting the bus from the park to the station, I assume, would be cutting it fine a bit? Also, do coaches from Stoke on Trent go to the same (or near to) station/stop as the buses to Alton leave from?Cheers (:
  8. Another thing I noticed about Saw's restraints is that they don't allow for much hands-putting-up, seemed kinda cramped in comparison to other rides.
  9. Not sure if this has been discussed already, but what's the deal with the green lights on the back of the seats?
  10. I only got in two rides on Inferno the other day - I normally try to go for at least three ): but then allowances had to be made for Saw! Still felt unfaithful to Inferno though.
  11. Okay not quite double - Skyhawk is 125ft, Rush is 75ft. I'm not talking about what'd be better either, I'm talking about the restraints. Especially given that a lot of people seem to find Rush's lap bars pretty scary.
  12. Does Skyhawk at Cedar Point still only have lap bars? Seeing as it's approximately double the height of Rush, I can imagine that being proper scary!
  13. I didn't actually find it that rough, except for one of the times I went on when I got proper knocked about and thought I was gonna black out during the Immelmann. I think it must depend on the car you sit in because 4 of the 5 times I went on, it was really smooth.
  14. I've read that the bus from AT to Stoke-On-Trent station can take up to an hour - does anyone know how much a taxi would cost from the park to the station?
  15. Saw's also seem to have a lot of padding around the head area, although this seems to be already wearing away/been picked away by idiots on certain seats.
  16. That really makes very very little sense - would you really pay £12 for something that you weren't even sure you'd want?

I get literally no thrill from No Way Out - I'd much rather go on Flying Fish or even Rocky Express (the latter is surprisingly good actually!)
  18. I've read that there used to be a train/ticket package for Alton that seems pretty good value, but from what I've seen that was in the days of Tussauds. Does anyone know if Merlin offer something similar?
  19. Has anyone else noticed how Saw's restraints get progressively tighter over the course of the ride? I really don't remember Jigsaw wanting to neuter anyone in any of his traps, but that's what those restraints feel like by the end of the ride!

But after it broke down initially, it wasn't running with people on it for the rest of the day. I think.
  21. It only broke down for 10 minutes tops, to be fair. But it did happen 'cos I was on it!

It was down from about 3pm onwards today I think.
  23. Finally got round to using my ticket from 15th March today - got on Saw 5 times (we were allowed to go round twice at one point 'cos it broke down ), excellent stuff. Overall it's pretty sweet, although we ended up in either row 3 or 4 every time so we got the puppet talking to us every time which was slightly annoying :/ also it broke down for about 10 minutes while we were in the queue, so still not 100% reliable I guess. The throughput actually seemed pretty fast to me, faster than any other Thorpe ride. And the DVDs would be good if they actually let you see your own ride! They just looped the same samplers of DVD rides all day, which I assume lost them quite a few potential DVD customers!
  24. I went to Thorpe twice in '07, twice in '08, and once so far this year - probably got about 25-30 rides on Inferno over these, and I think the steam in the tunnel has worked once, and I have never seen the water under the loop working.
  25. I've never seen it closed from being broken down, but there do often seem to be a lot of problems with restraints.
