  1. Hi! Does anyone have a copy of the old SFX loop for Amity Cove during older Fright Nights events please? :)
  2. It may well not be...because Chronicles of London I don't reckon is related as the Chronicles of New York has also been filed. Just thought I'd point it out.
  3. It seems Merlin have filed for the trade mark to the words "Galactica" and "Intergalactic" under sections 21, 25, 35 and 41 of NICE classification. With section 41 containing the explanation of copyright for..."rollercoaster rides; operation of rollercoaster rides; observation wheels, observation decks and platforms; amusement park services; theme park services; theme park rides; amusements and amusement arcade services; visitor attractions". They were both filed on 13/08. It has the same classifications as Th13teen, Raptor, Oblivion, Nemesis etc but the only difference is section 21 which includes the trademarking of "containers; drinking flasks; combs; sponges; hair brushes; comb cases; glassware; porcelain; mugs; cups; plates and bowls; napkin rings; powder compacts; toilet cases; toothbrushes; trays; vanity cases; porcelain and earthenware not included in other classes; water bottles; tankards; oven gloves; money boxes not of metal."
  4. I'm happy to say, The London Eye is now known as just that - The London Eye! Bye bye EDF Energy (and you're garnish colours/disgusting sponsorship) and welcome back the rich purples and classy colours etc...thank god! Here's the new site (click) ...not much new there yet, but nice to see it returning to the post-BA image/style. That logo has returned too, just without "The Merlin Entertainments" bit: Not long before the dreaded coke takes over though...
  5. Unfortunately it's not that simple. When planning and creating a scare attraction, multiple plans and ideas may be analysed and bounced around. I'm not construction or technical but I need to know their abilities etc if I am to pull off something realistic. It's always best to plan more than you need with the knowledge that, along the way, stuff will get cut. The creative side will need to be aware of and take into account the constructional and technical abilities and restraints. So off the top of my head, let's say we creatively thought of a maze based on the legend of old Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. The maze would have multiple scenes with different effects, such as projection mapping, moving floors, smells, light SFX and triggered scenes/set. This would need to be revised and planned from script delivery timings for throughput to scene effect lengths for the flow of the attraction. Sending this over to construction and technical, they would need to then come up (if done in-house) with something like a set of choices, let's say for this: A, B and C. So A would be the most amount of money and C being the least. For example, perhaps B would say yes to projection mapping, special effects, smells but no to really immersive sets. So, instead maybe we'd have black floors and black material ceiling (yuck) with minimalist set designs, instead of it looking like tier A, where the immersive set makes us feel we're walking inside an old house near the bayou with wooden floors, jar lanterns hanging down from a wood slat ceiling, rich and detailed sets etc. Another big factor is guest understanding. How can we, with as little budget and actors as possible, still deliver the storyline clearly and cohesively? So by that I mean, if I ask the staff to run on the least possible actors we can (reflecting a break/lunch pattern) will I still get the same storyline/experience as if the maze was full? Will the theme/script need changes to ensure that the maze storyline is delivered? Or will it all be told in a preshow video and the rest of the maze is just "boo!"s and shrieks? If we rely just on a preshow, will the storyline continue to flow and make sense? Do the sets/effects need to tell the story instead of the actors? How much will all of this cost operationally? Building on from this, how many staff will we need to run the entire attraction (not just actors) safely and effectively each day? All of these factors: cosmetic, operational, technical, constructional, will have an impact on the overall story, plot and running of the maze. Things can go wrong very late in the game causing last minute changes or even complete cuts of an attraction. I've analysed and even helped create some pretty cool concepts but usually, for one reason or another, the final product is either watered down, completely different from the original theme and plot or completely cut and left on the shelf...
  6. I'd say this is untrue due to the fact Rita is currently open (and we know how anal Alton are with their safety!).
  7. Really like the new site. Do you reckon the audio tab will return so you can access all the audio across the site in one place? Loving some of the new audio on there too! But some of the the old audio which was on the previous site (in particular Rush) is missing. Will they be returning? Well done though - brilliant site.
  8. Hi CoasterDude, Unfortunately I do not have that music. Just to clarify, the Safari version of the theme I had obtained was not from the same source as anyone else and my position to upload was not to jeopardise anyone's position or trust. Just a misunderstanding and so, out of respect I removed the file.
  9. Hello! Some of you hate it, some of you love it...but here is the Imperial Leather Bubbleworks ride-through mix. It includes all the effects like "Have we run out of shampoo?"..."Please be quiet" etc. Click Me Enjoy! (Mods, if this is not allowed etc, please contact and I'll happily take them down).
  10. Thank god for that! I could understand if there was a pre-recorded announcement played twice ontop of the end of day music but not an atmosphere crushing, siren.
  11. The park was hit by another region-wide powercut today. All rides took ages to re-open with some of the big ones taking forever it seemed. Would hate to be working on guest services today!
  12. It was probably left on by accident. Sometimes you can hear effects on Extraordinary Golf when they've left them on. Not common though. You can find Battle Galleons theme on youtube... That one is the main courtyard suite and here is Battle Galleons...
  13. I've always thought it's a bit unclear if it's relating to the syringe trap with Amanda from number two or the lethal injection one from number six? None of them seem to really have this crossbow/syringe trap in them?

    X

Have they changed the music on X already? As I have now seen two videos on Youtube and both of them are playing completely different themes? Or am I wrong and it has a playlist?
  15. Those syringe-esque things really need to go, absolutely kill my ears when the air is blasted. Still want them to get rid of those God awful announcements that wreck the atmosphere. On the subject of ambience, absolutely love the added beat to the queueline ambience track inside the warehouse. Is it overlayed or part of the inside track? Does anyone happen to have a recording? Thankies.
  16. Hex hasn't been running right for a couple of weeks now, bless it. Seems to be huge effect problems with the worst affected area being the Octagon and the show lighting deciding not to work either throughout the attraction. It should be fixed soon as it's a complete let down, Hex requires all of this to be working in order for the ride to wow it's guests. Seems Duel's been getting all of the attention lately.
  17. Full Bubbleworks isn't out there? That's not very nice! Thought it was.Ah well, here is the full 13:25 official version of the Bubbleworks Exterior Theme.Go on, Click Me. It may take a time to download, sorry about that. I've randomly popped it in 320kps format. Have no clue why!Anyway, enjoy. It's a great little piece (except for the annoying over-use of the main laughing SFX heard in the tickle test room in the second part of the track). If you don't want to download that rather huge file (30mb). Then I've uploaded an Imperial Leather Mix of the Exterior Theme below. Slightly shorter at 11 mins 22 seconds. Clickety Click
  18. That is a nice touch. Love it. I think Chessington is the type of park which would benefit from ride/area specific uniform. Would add to and complement their "Britian's Wildest Adventure" marketing push so, so well.
  19. Good God peeking Tom scared the hell out of me last year when the hatch was open and all you could see was this vodoo-like doll with freaky eyes smiling at you.
  20. It is the same tune you hear but not exact in terms of length. This version is slightly longer - not with any new musical sections, it just repeats.
  21. Sorry to double post.Just thought some of you may like this. :PPlease find attached Chessington's "The Call To Adventure" Theme. This can be heard playing in Market Square, The Entrances loop and on Safari Skyway. Click Me!

    SAW: Alive

Went in it a few weekends ago. I've never been so bored and annoyed in my life. Ok the themeing is good and all is well on that front. But they haven't pulled off the ambience or anything at all. I really like the Saw films and I just couldn't wait to see the rooms after seeing the photos on Thorpe's facebook/twitter. The only thing that would make me queue up again for it would be that AWESOME Saw music. Just pretty fantastic if you ask me. This does contain spoilers, so be warned. :DAnd would I queue up again only to hear the music? Well, it started down hill from the S.W.A.T guy. He said his spiel, then randomly just went under the table and so we took it we had to move on. Just ruined the illusion for me there suddenly hiding himself. The first room was boring, just a man lay on the floor going "ahh, ouch, oooo". I was like "You're meant to be sawing your foot off love". Then the kid at the front didn't know which way to go. Instead of staying in character and pointing the right direction and stuff, he just dropped his character. He turned around and just went "No over there. That's right mate". MATE?! I'm sure if you were having to saw off your foot to escape/survive and we just waltzed past not helping, we wouldn't be your mates and by that I don't mean insulting us instead. Ruined the ambience. The next room, electrocution tunnel? Again boring, there was nothing going on. No loud noises or bangs - nothing. After this we were greeted with an "actor" in a pig mask. Came up to my face and just swirled their hand in my face. Now babes, take a look at your costume. Do you see yourself having an awful black bob and wearing a blue cape donning the name Mystic Meg? No, I thought that too. The freezer room was quite good. I liked the temperature change and all but maybe more dry ice? The actress in here obviously was bored. Made no noise and just swirled round in a little circle with her feet firmly on the same spot. Wow - interesting form of acting. Then onto the chain room one (Saw 4). This was quite cool. It made a couple of the people around me jump and yell when she yanked on the chain and I began to think it was going to get better from here onwards. Oh how I shouldn't think too early. Again, the kid at the front went into a fire exit door. Now, considering she is meant to have her face sewn up, she miraculously spoke without causing any pain via ripping her stiched mouth apart. I was amazed - I want the drug she's on if she felt no pain! Again, a ruined ambience. She was like "The wrong way. OI WRONG WAY!". She could have easily jumped off her chain box and grabbed the guy in front putting him in the right direction. The next one was pretty boring, just a woman with her stomach open and popping up every now and then. I must say though, congratulations to Thorpe with the make-up there. Pretty fantastic and realistic. And finally, the last one, a guy just stood there saying "What do I do, I can't do it! NO!". We just walked past the carousel with no gun shooting or anything. No jumps and then suddenly, we were out into the photo area. Later that day we went to Guest Services and I couldn't help but listen to the complaint next to me. It was about Saw : Alive. He complained that he screamed in the maze and the actor came upto him and said "Yeah that was the noise your mum made when she was with me last night in bed". Now considering this was an actor who was trying to save himself, was there any need to randomly say that to that guy? I think it was pretty damn appauling and unnecessary. A) the character isn't meant to be insulting us if they're trying to flee from Jigsaw and B ) if you're going to insult a guest, insult them personally, don't bring in another person/part of their life - not needed. If it was Asylum or Se7en or Hellgate and the insult was about the man himself and his scream, then fine. I would think he was being ridiculous and be on Thorpes side. But, considering this is a different type of maze theme and wasn't directed at the man himself, then I'm fully on his side.
  23. Yeah my fault, since heard a recording and can obviously see it now. Getting confused with the Skyway/Market loop...:PEDIT: Upset that those hilarious Dragon falls announcements gone and new horrible ones in it's place. "Booty inside the boaty" was the best line...miss that guy - whatta legend!

    Th13teen

New themeing has been added to the queueline over night. There's a Wraith covered in vines, a man by the van covered in vines reaching upwards and a woman covered in vines but facing the other way towards the trees so all you can see is long dark hair. Not much but a step forward.
