  1. Probably just not getting the traffic/clicks anymore now that Hyperia is open and there's very little behind the scenes stuff really going on that they can't just post on their usual socials.
  2. The old Temple is 24 years old nowadays (originally living at the Millennium Dome). If they hadn't decided to build that daft Glamping/Go Ape behind it would've been perfect for a half decent coaster.
  3. If something has broken on it that's right rotten luck. Though that it has an exact reopening date on it is suspect.
  4. I think with the expansion of Facebook and then Discord the groups on forums just migrated to those places. Being able to make posting footage of things a job also has made a massive contribution to the way the media of it all is consumed and distributed. How many construction updates were just someone taking photos on a random visit rather than being camped out for days on end or a 30 minute video with an asinine presenter and a click bait title? Also many who used them in the "heyday" have grown up, gotten jobs and lives that take precedent over forum times. I will say though some things do irk me about modern enthusiasts. Which isn't solely a theme park based issue. The almost cult-like following of certain "influencers" where their word is law, the way in which everything must be amazing or terrible with zero nuance to things. On the other hand, I do think some places had some very unwelcoming "veterans" and often internal politics/cliques/issues that did not help matters for newcomers or regulars. As mentioned though, this is not an issue solely in this hobby. There's a lot of forums I used to frequent which are very dead, even with there being constant new stuff happening. Discord is king now I feel of the old forum life.
  5. Similar thing with the Nemesis redo. There are some bits that look fantastic (the eye), but the bits plonked in the queueline just don't have that same level of care or attention. Looking very cheap in the end.
  6. God that splashdown is embarrassing. Maybe that's why they removed the viewing platform plans?
  7. Probably had a queue because of running 1 train. Number of ERTs I've done and you're usually running round over and over. To close the queue early for a paid event is a bit dodgy.
  8. I prefer Det over a lot of the bigger drop towers because once you've hit terminal velocity with at least 1/2 the drop left it kinda loses it for me. Det is quick and forceful. Just how I prefer it.
  9. They'll be buggered royally if they've gotta open it on one train. Better than shut but with all the big promotion could go down the pan.
  10. The amount of armchair engineers that have appeared has wound me up no end. Spouting opinion as fact when clearly the thing would never have been opened in the first place if testing procedures hadn't been fulfilled. If I meet the person who first suggested that was an issue I'll smack them with my HSE book.
  11. They will be. But considering that this is not the first Merlin/Tussauds coaster to open fairly disastrously no surprise where most of the flak is going.
  12. Tired baby. Get the hire crane back in to lift them off. Was the ride area cursed by Logger's Leap and it's biggest fan?
  13. So the problem wasn't as major as some made out then? Shocked I say. Shocked.
  14. Clearly doesn't want to work weekends. Lazy coaster.
  15. The greatest joy of the British language is how we have mastered the art of swearing.
  16. Staff are riding it. Entitled enthusiasts are upset.
  17. It would amuse me if it opened tomorrow then broke for Wednesday again.
  18. The price of these you might ask? THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY ENGLISH POUNDS. Insanity. And it'll sell out by 12:05.
  19. Cedar Point could've done things differently by not employing bloody Zamperla. Weekends are the main issue with that one. Hell we missed out on the Friday because RAP allocation was fully booked by time I got home. However from what I've seen the actual RAP situation on parks has improved a fair amount. Thorpe are the only ones really sticking to the "pre-book only" thing as well, which I do commend them for.
  20. If they didn't provide a rough date then people would moan about that too. Probably something got delayed to prevent the planned date(s) from happening. Or they assumed they wouldn't need to do a lot of testing again. Project management can be a right pain. But maybe they'll reopen it before I get a response from them regarding my visit.
  21. Went against yesterday to raid the Nemesis shop and the CBeebies event. Weird day for queues, still a bit of an issue with staff not signing RAP correctly or at all in some cases. Reliability of rides not great but Galactica was being operated superbly and was walk on in the afternoon. Blivvy and Smiler both got evacuated in the day and we were fortunately walking past X Sector when Blivvy reopened. Was still having problems so loads left but waited about 15 mins for it to start up. Rapids were down all day (as well as the 3 rides advertised as such). Wickerman and Nemesis both running outstandingly well. CBeebies event was cute and lil one enjoyed it. Can't ask for much more. Good day all in all.
  22. After watching a minute and a half of them patting themselves on the back for how well opening day went it made any apology feel insincere. As @Mark9 said, rubbing noses in those of us who weren't able to attend on the day. The sole focus of the video should've been regarding the 2 week closure with no mention of anything else.
  23. Thorpe joining in on the classic YouTube non-apology video train. Spent more time going on about how good opening day was than anything else.
  24. Someone has claimed something to do with the lift chain. Which given that we've seen engineers on said lift hill and it was making a racket when open isn't a big stretch. Someone's put a camera in front of her whilst making a cuppa?
