Removing X would be a very bad decision. It's a popular family coaster now and bridges the gap between the Flying Fish and the thrill coasters at the park well.
  2. That's the issue I have with the current Fright Nights lineup as of last year - none of the attractions are solid. Inconsistency is to be expected in scare attractions, but I've had truly amazing run-throughs on both MBV and CITW yet other times they are lacklustre. If Thorpe can focus on making sure the actors put in full effort 100% of the time and keep effects working then I think it would be a much fairer comparison. With that said, I don't see why people shouldn't decide which one they prefer based on their own experiences.
  3. Well that frame definitely looks interesting! Not got a clue what the upper section could be, but it looks quite complex.

So you think that removing a popular family coaster and leaving the pyramid sitting there SBNO for occasional use is a good idea? They already have the Dome where they do special events.
  5. Experiment 10 was a brilliant step forward with scare mazes, since then I feel that they've gone downhill a bit. My Bloody Valentine is a definite step down, CITW is a great idea but not executed well enough IMO (and throughput is dire). I hope The Big Top will offer something different, but at the moment I'm expecting it to be very similar to Carnival of Screams - hopefully I'm proved wrong! I disagree with Asylum being dated - it was a solid attraction that was always popular and got great reviews even in it's last year of operation. It also seemed to have a much better throughput than most other mazes. It created the perfect atmosphere and, whilst some people didn't rate it, I'd say that it was the overall most memorable maze at Fright Nights. As for needing a chainsaw, it is the only ending to a maze that actually gets a reaction - in My Bloody Valentine, Cabin in the Woods and Saw Alive people just walk out as pretty much nothing of any note happens, but there was nothing better than seeing people run out of Asylum whilst queueing to create the right atmosphere. Some things are best left alone, and Asylum was one of them IMO.
  6. Ah okay - wasn't aware of that. Hope they get it back to full capacity soon though, bit of a shame that this has happened during the park's busiest period of the season.
  7. That's why I want it to open this year - that way they can hopefully have a fresh start next year.
  8. It seems pretty random, sometimes they split the group in half or send one person away from the rest of the group, but they sometimes don't split the group up at all.
  9. No, but it would be a better short-term fix in my opinion than just sending round half of them empty - there's no point of them being on the system surely?
  10. Not sure why they don't just take half the rafts off, it would annoy guests much less (still shoddy, but there's nothing worse than standing in a slow moving queue seeing empty trains/rafts going out).
  11. It's switch on night for the Illuminations in Blackpool today, meaning that there will be thousands of people in the resort with cash to spend in the evening. Why, yet again, are BPB closing at 6pm on such a big occasion? I can't understand the logic behind doing a midnight close in November when the weather is vile, yet failing to open late when they already have a huge number of people already in Blackpool!
  12. It's looking promising for the ride to re-open this year. Really hope it does, the longer it's sat there closed, the less faith the GP will have in it IMO - also if the ride re-opened this year then hopefully they could have a fresh start next year.
  13. Sounds good - but where have they said this?
  14. I hope MBV is actually good this year. Like the other mazes, it started off well on the preview evening and then went downhill from there last year - I've always found it works best when the theming is visible, like last year but then in the later stages of the event it seemed to get darker (possibly because the lighting was broken). Wish they'd bring back Experiment 10 (2011 edition), that was by far the best Fright Night maze done under Merlin ownership IMO.

No, that was played on the ride in 2011 and 2012 replacing this theme: https://youtu.be/_MVWOY9cRsI
  16. They've had a whole year to sort out evacuation lights on Loggers Leap so I'm expecting that to stay open until 10pm - like log flumes in pretty much any other park in the world which are able to operate in the dark.
  17. Ah, I didn't know that, thought they'd done away with it completely. Haven't been to Legoland for years! The old music had something special about it though, from a musical point of view the new soundtrack sounds quite generic IMO. Admittedly I haven't heard it on the ride though.
  18. ^ Not a fan of the new Dragon ride music at all, the old soundtrack was amazing.
  19. Yet Fury is not reliable at all, Bubbleworks is stuck on half capacity and Scorpion does not shift a queue fast enough for its popularity (not a fault of the ride, it's just one of those rides where low capacity can't be helped). Not sure what Chessington can do to be honest, but spending money on existing rides to get them into fully working order would help.
  20. Goggle Box. Don't see the point in it.
  21. Who was the composer out of interest?
  22. There's a fairly lengthy description of The Big Top in the press release. Also, I like how Saw Alive is more evil for 2014! I seem to remember a life sized Jack in the Box in Carnival of Screams at Alton, I don't have a problem with them reusing a few set pieces but if it's just a re-hashed version of COS then I will be very disappointed.
  23. I would like to see them improve the finales of each maze this year. Asylum/S13 was the only maze with a good ending, with the others you just walk out with nothing happening usually.
  24. Does anyone else think that the I'm a Celebrity maze has been a bit of a flop? Sure, some people enjoy it but I haven't seen many positive reviews (from the general public), and it doesn't exactly get a huge queue - well, apart from the fact that anything over fifty people takes an hour! I do have to question whether there would be any queue at all if the throughput was good? Also, it doesn't seem to have boosted gate figures, but that could be attributed to other things rather than IAC.
  25. I've just noticed... 60 minutes for the tiny frog hopper ride!! And who in their right mind would queue 45 minutes for Dodgems?
