  1. Closing at 6pm in the height of summer is ridiculous, it really is a case of taking people's money and kicking them out as soon as possible. Very, very poor show.
  2. And yet people on here claim that they don't do that sort of thing. I'm sorry but how anyone can defend that is beyond me, it's blatant manipulation of the queue time to sell Fastrack.Absolutely disgusting to be employing people to rob money from guests, I'm sorry but it's nothing better than stealing to be honest.
  3. It's funny that Saw and Stealth (the ones with the massively inflated queue times) are the ones which will sell the most Fastrack, unlike the flats which probably wouldn't. Was Reserve and Ride in operation out of interest?
  4. I'd rather have some small scale dark rides and a few more relaxing rides (bring back the train!) to give Thorpe a better overall offering, as they have plenty of flats already even if half of them are incapable of running properly for one reason or another.
  5. No I'm not criticising the prices (on this occasion ), just questioning why they considered that to be good value.
  6. Lots of nice brass there! Is that the complete soundtrack or is there a longer one?
  7. Yeah that's what I was saying, enjoying the day and good value for money are two different things.
  8. I'm not very good at photography but here's two anyway: I was quite happy with this one apart from the annoying green board! Wish there was a train in this shot! (Megafobia at Oakwood).
  9. Regardless of what other places charge, £90 (or if you are going to look at individual prices, £47 each) is still expensive for three rides and the zoo in my opinion.
  10. Merlin have been reprimanded over the annual pass "sale" last year. https://www.asa.org.uk/Rulings/Adjudications/2015/7/Merlin-Entertainments-Group-Ltd/SHP_ADJ_294288.aspx#.VadJSPlViko Too right in my opinion, it was not a sale and was being advertised falsely.
  11. I do have to question the sanity of people who think that three rides for £90 is good value, I'm sorry but regardless of whether you enjoyed the rides/company it's not. That's £30 a ride!
  12. Yeah actually I forgot about the harsh stops on X which might cause problems. It depends what kind of back problem it is to be honest, I know someone who suffers from severe back problems at times yet he is fine on rides, whereas others may not be.
  13. What was wrong with the old fence? It wasn't themed but I didn't have any problem with it, just a simple wooden fence. The issue was that it looks like a half done job, but at the end of the day I'm not going to lose any sleep over a fence, I just thought it was worth mentioning.
  14. Call me old fashioned but I think that theme parks should be aesthetically pleasing. I know it's only a fence but it's just laughable that the UK's largest park patches things up so obviously like that, it does look tacky and it really wouldn't take much to just replace that section of fence. No it's not something that would detract from my enjoyment of the park, it's a fence but I'm just saying that it looks shoddy.
  15. If the fence was done properly it would be easy to ignore, but that is just a bodge job and if I can't believe they are happy to leave it looking as naff as that! Agreed about common sense though, it angers me to see so many unnecessary changes occurring at theme parks as a result of people's stupidity.
  16. I would recommend starting with rides like X which don't really put any pressure on a bad back and then building up, rather than starting with Saw or Colossus which might not be such a good idea.
  17. The signs seem very over the top considering that there are over 100 around the park now (according to TowersStreet), and having them plastered everywhere ruins the escapism of the park and themes of the rides. As for the raised fences, they could have at least done them properly - they look dire like that!
  18. Exactly what I (and others) have been saying all along. It only works when the park is so quiet it shouldn't be needed anyway!
  19. That's strange, as I seem to recall a sign outside the ride at the time of the competition stating that it would be refurbished and receive new theming.
  20. Yeah, I have also seen this happen and I don't see how people can claim that they don't occasionally bend the truth when people have seen it with their own eyes. Advertising a queue in excess of 60 minutes when there is no queue is not a mistake.
  21. But then you have to question why it can't be used. I know that theme parks will have problems, but why does it happen so often at Thorpe when compared with other parks? Colossus spent about two months on one train at the start of the season, X has only just started running three trains this year, the list goes on.
  22. You shouldn't have any problems getting on the coasters, but I would recommend going to one of the first events as (based on previous years) they are usually much quieter. The fact that they only run one train on the coasters as well as it being a limited ride lineup means that queues can build despite the park being fairly quiet, and the event seems to get more popular during August.
  23. Thorpe need to get themselves sorted out with regards to capacity, opening on one train during peak times and having one of their main coasters stuck on a one train service during busy times really shouldn't be happening. This has been an issue needing attention for a while now but they don't seem to realise this. I do question whether they would have more enthusiasm for improving their operations if Fastrack didn't exist.
  24. I hope they relocate the dragon ride (basically Rocky Express but much better and it can go backwards). That ride was my childhood!
