It strikes me as odd that they couldn't extend the fake rockwork another few inches to cover the entire building instead of having an obvious bit at the top.

How do you get to the basement? Is it through the door with the doll in it?

This soundtrack (which plays around Stealth) NEEDS to be played on the speakers throughout the queueline of My Bloody Valentine. At the moment the only audio in that queue is bits that can be heard from inside, which is a real shame considering that they went to the effort of installing the speakers, but not switching them on! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3b1CpeXgqc CITW's queueline would also benefit from audio, as the atmosphere in that queue is dead (bar the actors).

Due to no queues on Sunday I went on my own in My Bloody Valentine for free. Whilst it was good, I wouldn't pay £15 for it.

Spoiler Free TR - Fright Nights at Thorpe Park TIME IN PARK: 2pm - 10pm (This TR may contain very mild spoilers - my TR from Friday has more spoilers though). After the promising preview evening we had experienced on Friday, I was looking forward to this trip. It didn't disappoint, and whilst there are still some niggles it was very much improved on Friday in most respects. The park was dead after 8pm, which meant 2 hours of rushing around going on all the rides and mazes multiple times. Before 8pm it wasn't really that busy either, so a very good day. RIDECOUNT: The Swarm x4 Nemesis Inferno x3 Stealth x2 Colossus x2 Saw: The Ride x1 X x1 Samurai x1 Storm Surge x1 MAZE-COUNT: The Asylum x3 My Bloody Valentine x3 The Cabin in the Woods x2 Saw Alive x1 The Blair Witch Project x1 Overall (rides and mazes): 25 Despite the new investment in Fright Nights this year, The Asylum is still by far the best maze in my opinion. The actors this year are very energetic and enthusiastic (in all the mazes, but especially Asylum) and the strobes are very intense, as are the fog effects used. Much improved on last year, and the new scenery at the end makes it a lot more effective. The Cabin in the Woods is a brilliant maze, and we enjoyed this a lot more today than on the preview evening. I won't spoil it for you, but the maze is very, very different from the others and is absolutely brilliant! My Bloody Valentine wasn't as good today - you can't make out who is Harry Warden because the lights on the miner hats they wear blocks their face. The appearance of him at the very beginning also ruins it in my opinion. Due to there being no queue (and being dared to), I did get the opportunity to go in this one completely on my own! It did make the experience more intense, but it still didn't scare me (but then nothing does!) Also, this was good as they charge £15 for "Face it alone" between 10 - 10:30pm so I basically got that for free as the park was so quiet from 8! Saw Alive is the same as previous years, and didn't do anything for me. The Blair Witch Project was a bit better today as the actors used jump scares very effectively. Whilst this goes against the film, it is the only way to generate scares from this scare zone and it was actually quite effective. HIGHLIGHTS: - The enthusiasm of the actors in the mazes this year. Much improved on previous years. - The high levels of theming in the mazes. Even Asylum has lots of scenery and props this year - whilst hard to see due to the strobes they really do add to the experience. - Park being quiet all day and dead by 8pm. - High ridecount and mazecount. LOWLIGHTS: - The amount of chavs and arrogant idiots on park today. Really ruined some parts of the day! Idiots like that who are just out to ruin everyone's day don't have a place at theme parks (or anywhere for that matter). - Staff working on the rides looked really bored and tired after 8pm. - Staff at the top of the stairs on Stealth constantly ignoring someone asking a question as he was talking to his friend. Overall I would recommend Fright Nights to anyone who likes Halloween events, and the quietest time to go is near the start of the event on a Sunday. Really good event! Questions and comments welcome (and encouraged!)

The Blair Witch Project worked better yesterday with the actors jumping out of the bushes shouting things like "HELP ME!". I know it goes against the film, but it's the only way to generate scares from this attraction, as otherwise it's pants

I really like the lighting on Stealth for Fright Nights!

The chavs and gypsies were horrendous yesterday! They really ruined parts of our day. For example on Storm Surge (first and last ride of the season on that thing) we got put in a raft with some and they were standing up, swearing and being generally abusive the whole time to us and the staff. Some of them also ruined our third run in Asylum - they kept pushing us into the fences as they were at the back. Also on Nemesis Inferno two chavs kept trying to get back on from the exit, and asked us to move up (even though we were a three) so that they could get on. I felt so sorry for the staff yesterday, but why didn't they just call security to escort them from the park?! Absolutely horrendous, there is no place for people like that in theme parks (or anywhere for that matter).

My Bloody Valentine wasn't as good yesterday as it was on Friday in my opinion. The fact that Harry Warden now appears at the very start of the maze ruins it in my opinion, as it should build up to seeing him. Also, apart from that bit you can't tell which actors are Harry Warden as the light on their helmet blocks the gas mask and most of the person from view (so they should turn those off). The Cabin in the Woods was very enjoyable, and I think it is the second best maze in the park this year. We found the control room, but the buttons didn't do anything as there was nobody in the room shown on the monitors. The Asylum is still the best imo, with the extra amount of smoke that it had yesterday (compared with Friday) and the very good actors it has this year it is much better than the others. The only problem is that the sirens are not loud enough! Audio around the park is patchy - the My Bloody Valentine theme was playing around the park, but not through the speakers in the queueline for the maze itself (which was still silent). Sort it out Thorpe! Also, CITW has no audio in the queueline.

Back from Fright Nights today, park was literally dead after 8pm!! Mazes done: The Asylum x3 My Bloody Valentine x3 The Cabin in the Woods x2 Saw Alive x1 The Blair Witch Project x1 Due to there being nobody waiting (and my brother and friend daring me to), I went in My Bloody Valentine completely on my own! Asylum is still the best maze in my opinion - no matter how much effort they put into new mazes it is still the most consistent and best in my opinion. Very good day and evening today!

I wish that the jump scares in Thorpe's mazes were well thought through like this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ethAaI6isY

^ Seems like a common thing with Thorpe atm - Yesterday on the info board "TIDL WAVE" was unavaliable for the preview evening

I'd love to ride that!

I'm not sure if they are, but this year did see quite a large investment in a brilliant new dark ride and they have said that their next big investment (whenever it comes) will be for thrillseekers.

The first room I went in on Cabin in the Woods was white and had a chair in the middle. I did like the white mask room, even though it was fairly small. The doll in the door room was a bit pointless, although I reckon that the door in there leads to the control room (not sure though - but I really want to find this room!) Really hope that both My Bloody Valentine and Cabin in the Woods get queueline music of some sort though.
-
No. However, if these things changed: - Audio in the queueline for every maze rather than just Asylum - Park-wide theming added - More audio in the mazes Then I might change that viewpoint. On another note, I agree with the comments about Asylum - the sirens need to be a lot louder to have any scary effect on people.

Review - Fright Nights preview evening. SPOILERS AHEAD Overall, I had mixed feelings about this year's event. The mazes were, in general much better than last year although there were some flaws (although this is to be expected though on a preview evening). There was one thing I was not happy about though, which will be mentioned in the review of that maze. My Bloody Valentine I really enjoyed this one. The actors were really good, and the Harry Warden actors were effectively using the layout to make it seem like they had followed you around the maze. The theming was brilliant in parts of the maze, particularly the first section and they really utilized it well. Lots of the props represented things from the films in subtle ways, and overall it really impressed me. The main downside was lack of atmosphere in the queueline - the newly installed speakers were playing nothing! (However it was preview night, so hopefully this will change). Overall I was very impressed with this maze 8/10 The Asylum This was good, but as we were one of the first groups of the day in it (and it opened late) I don't think that the actors were quite ready for us. Still, we really enjoyed it and the new touches were very nice. There were quite a lot of new/altered scenes and props (which I have wanted in there for a long time!) The new finale will be brilliant, however for our turn we saw the man go to get the chainsaw before he was ready for us so it ruined it, however it's early days yet and it will be brilliant! 7.5/10 Cabin In The Woods Based on the bad experience we had in this, I didn't rate it very highly. I do however think that I might enjoy it more if I go in it again. Firstly, in the queueline we had actors literally dribbling on us (as there are actors in the queue this year). I had dribble on my hand, and another man got really close to several woman with LOTS of dribble on his beard. This was unhygienic, dangerous (could enter cuts etc) and generally disgusting. However, we decided to put this aside as we entered the maze. It started off really well, but they separated my brother (who is not the bravest of people) from me and he hated it after that. I did stress to the actor that they shouldn't split us up as while it didn't bother me, he really didn't like it. I know it's part of it, but it makes it hard to find groups again at the end etc and should only be done to adult groups. Overall, despite some flaws I thought that the theming quality of the maze was quite high and I might give it another go (if the dribbling stops). 6.5/10 The Blair Witch Project Quite frankly, awful. A walk through a darkened path (the only fear being of tripping up) with a few actors whispering stuff, then a woman screaming and bashing a wall in a hut at the end. Won't be going back for more of this one. 2/10 (Second point only for the large amount of fog used at the entrance ) I did enjoy this event, and I think it has given the park some flaws to fix before tomorrow's big launch of the event. I look forward to returning to the park on Sunday and experiencing it all again (minus TBWP and possibly CITW, and I would like to do Saw Alive as well as I haven't done it for a while now). Final thoughts on the general park atmosphere: The Good: - Asylum's Queue-line music. That Bass! - Theming in the dome and park entrance plaza - New audio around the park The Bad: - No queueline music for Cabin in the Woods or My Bloody Valentine - this would really help the atmosphere and mood of people queuing up as without it everyone just looks bored and annoyed. - NO theming whatsoever around the park. A real shame, however this is only the first night so it could be improved. - Audio in mazes (Asylum in particular) could be louder. - X music could be heard in parts of Cabin in the Woods - The Blair Witch Project. Just, what? The Ugly: - The bodily fluids dribbled onto us in the CITW queueline. Not good. Hope the park fix the problems (such as queueline music for the mazes and park-wide theming) because it will really make all the difference.

I think that it's only dumped where you can't see. I will be writing a full review of the event either after I get back today or tomorrow. Very much looking forward to the event now!

Really like the entrance sign this year! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=551064958282141&set=a.166428706745770.47984.163052343750073&type=1&theater
