New for 2016 - Park-Wide Improvements
Coaster replied to MarkC's topic in Chessington World of Adventures
Splash Battles are great fun, but only in the right weather! This could be a good addition for Chessington, but I haven't actually been on one of the Zamperla ones before so can't comment on that. -
No, we waited 45 minutes for The Swarm, and I think it stacked with every single train. Just because it had a short queue when you went on it, doesn't mean it did all day. Similarly with Colossus, it went down to near walk-on until they closed off two sections of the train (so three in total), at which point the queue built up again very quickly. Nemesis Inferno should have been walk-on by 9pm as the queue was just inside the station, however it was stacking for up to 40 seconds on each train meaning that I didn't get the re-rides I wanted. I know there wasn't a huge queue, but there was still a queue so they should have been trying to shift it. Saw Alive had a long queue because the queue was being batched unfairly in favour of Fastrack, although we managed to catch it with a short queue near closing (but unfortunately it took 30 minutes due to an E-stop). I had already commented on The Big Top's improvement in the FN 2015 topic, although admittedly I did forget to put it in the TR (but I didn't think it was that good to be honest, but it was a big improvement on lst week!) The eye incidents were not on that run-through, it happened earlier on in the day on The Big Top and in My Bloody Valentine just before we did TBT at the end. They were definitely accidental, but should not have happened! (In My Bloody Valentine, the actor made a grab for my brother's face and ended up prodding him in the eye and in The Big Top I'm not actually sure what happened, but it was in the dark room with the red carts and the actor had a teddy, so it could have been the teddy which hit me in the eye - either way, it hurt a lot!)

Thorpe's response to someone on Facebook who complained about Fastrack overselling was this: Great, lets just use someone's complaint as a way to advertise Farcetrack even further!
-
I haven't heard this at all during Fright Nights this year, it has mostly been circus music in the ride stations with old maze themes playing outside.
-
Yeah, but only once I had alerted them to the problems. When it's that bad, they should really have people who are able go quickly step in and sort a situation out - in fact, I'm sure they used to have a lot more security staff around the park during Fright Nights, and they weren't even doing the bag searches which they have been doing for most of the year.
-
To be fair, The Big Top has had significant improvements since last week (but why couldn't it have been like that from the start?), with extra theming in places and lighting seemed to be used well to hide the naff parts.
-
Well Samurai raised... and then went back into loading position, and that seemed to be it for the day. This was whilst testing, not with people on.
-
Why? Congo is usually popular at Scarefest from my experience, but in an ideal world I would rather Battle Galleons was closed instead of The Flume as barely anyone seems to go on it at any time of year, let alone October!
-
The thing is, if they were planning to get Slammer re-open next year then why would the medals be discounted rather than just not having them on sale until next year/leaving them there on full price?I hope Slammer stays, it is a great ride but it does seem to be a bit of a nightmare to maintain. At a wild and uneducated guess, I would suggest that they haven't fully decided on what is happening with Slammer, as surely if it was definitely leaving the park they would just be honest about it?

I think I ended up in a TPM group in The Big Top at the end of the day as I got split up from my own group! Apologies for not saying hello if I did but I wasn't sure!

^ I am, this is my last visit of the season most probably. However, just to explain, I was already arranged to go with a group of friends so couldn't cancel, and we did enjoy the day - but how can parks improve if people don't highlight the issues? I did let them know and they took the queue jumpers out of the queue in the end, so credit to them for doing that.
-
It wouldn't surprise me with the amount of idiotic people here today, so far I have been subjected to people smoking in most queues, people swearing at us for walking too slow in the Saw queue (what is the rush to join the back of a queue anyway?! Idiots!), these people then proceeded to jump the gate and join the front of the queue!Yet on all of these occasions, Thorpe have made no effort to prevent things. Yet they are happy to sell them as much beer as they can to make matters even worse! Absolutely shocking.
-
No chance of that, I'm going to a much better park next week!
-
Agreed with this, it's almost like they have lost all the costumes and have had to make do with old E10 overalls (Cabin) and generic face paint instead of gas masks (MBV).Good costumes really made the event last year (and in past years), this is just shoddy.

Something bizarre happened on Rumba today, we were going past it and the trough was completely drained, but there was a raft with two people in it just sat on the bottom. Staff were stood on the grass section above it (the raft was stranded in the wave pool section) and we were walking past but were rudely told that there was "NOTHING TO SEE HERE!" - if there was nothing to see then why couldn't we walk past to get to Stealth? Does anyone have any idea what happened?
-
Where is the logic behind MBV without Harry Warden?! It was the same last week as well! Utter rubbish. Cabin was good though!
-
If they went any slower on Swarm they would be going backwards! Never seen it operated so poorly, stacking for well over a minute usually and staff checking belts look like they are about to fall asleep! Should be as quick as possible. Not like they have a 45 minute queue to clear or anything...
-
In all seriousness I hope they warn people that they will be de-clothed, as I can see some people having an issue with that if they weren't warned. Also do you get them back afterwards?
-
TPC probably just put those hoodies on the racks for the photo... I wouldn't put it past them judging by the crap they have been posting today.
-
Haha I wasn't distressed or anything, I just found it quite funny and didn't know they said things like that - then again I've never done face it alone!
-
Yeah, I guess that's why it is over 18's only! (That being said, I have heard actors swear in character during normal park hours, but it's all part of the fun!)
-
It is really good to see them bringing out merchandise to promote the new ride... ... but is anyone realistically going to buy a hoodie when they know absolutely nothing about what the slogans are referring to?
-
Did that clown really say what I think he said!? https://youtu.be/59-vATYB5Ms

As far as I can tell, they are lying and making themselves look rather stupid. I highly doubt this is real, Thorpe would not publish that and the grammar is a big giveaway (although maybe not - who remembers "rocket lunch?")
