I thought from the plans submitted that many of the rooms were smaller 2 person varieties? Smaller, less expensive rooms is what I was hoping for to make this in any way attractive to me. Many mentions of 'family' throughout, so it seems that is the way they are still heading. No price in the main text but searching for a random mid-week 2 day 1 night stay for 2 people comes in at £179. I think that is a little cheaper than similar searches last year, but too much for me for 2 people. Their own search comparison gives a £111 option 19 miles from the park and Premier Inn can do the same night for £29.

In fairness to them last closed season they did just that to a few areas of the park, things were looking a lot fresher in places. I'd expect that to continue this year.

And we might not be! The negative comments aren't plucked out of thin air, they come from a reputation that Chessington and Merlin have very much earned in recent times. Their reputation precedes them, but if they are going to show they've turned a corner with these referbs and start delivering a bit of quality again then obviously that opinion is going to change, in the same way most have been pretty positive about Thorpe recently for doing mostly good things after a few iffy years.

I can only agree with this. Also think it is worth pointing out as you bring it up that there is a real wide range of ages attending these days, from mid teens up to a few of us around the 30 mark and a couple even older (I won't guess at stretchys age out of respect for my elders! ). My point is the meets really are for everyone so if you are thinking about it then just do it! As for what I want / expect from a meet, it is pretty much what we get! Always a good time.

Some great music recommendations so far, it's amazing the things that pass me by. A side effect of being old I think. Loving Capital Cities, remember hearing it earlier in the year but it passed me by a bit, as did Franz Ferdinand having a new album. Great Gatsby seems to be a popular choice too, I did mean to catch that when it was out but missed it somehow, I'll add it to the xmas list!

I have passed the bulk of my driving course! Boom!

Great post Alex. I personally agree with quite a bit of it, but in one form or another I think most of those ideas have been brought up (mostly in the unseen admin area) and discounted for one reason or another before now. My personal favourite that I don't think has been suggested before is I have no idea if that is something in the system that can be 'turned on' or if it would be a lot of work to implement, but I like it a lot. As for the contributor idea I wouldn't like it to be used to access extra or exclusive content, I like everything being out there for everyone. Other than a 'contributor' user group to show the love I think the best way it could be done is if the site carried some advertising (just some subtle banners) and contributors get the site ad free instead. I don't know why we don't carry adverts in the first place, which would surly be a more direct way to cover the running costs. I think it might cause some sort of issues in how the site runs and is registered if it starts to turn a profit? I think there has been a general lack of (outwardly noticeable) progress and activity around the site recently, but then it has to be remembered that it is run as a hobby really and people are busy! There has been a fair amount done for a future update but that is always going to come second to people keeping themselves employed and getting themselves through uni so it is taking a bit longer than expected. Also, **** the swear filter.

I want to say again how much I love Time Machine, probably my favourite un-themed flat ride! I haven't done Over the Hill for a couple of years, I'll assume they've tarted it up a bit if you thought it was excellent, it was looking pretty tired last time I rode even if some of the ideas and tricks are quite good. For an amusement park I think Adventure Island punches above its weight and is a bit under rated, it has a good selection of rides and for the most part is well run and presented.

Although Hollenblitz (sp?) shows what can be done with a traveller. If they are going to charge top dollar for it they should make an effort!

Ministry Nights were the best event, they are returning too!
