What do you mean almost? It's pretty much is one of the lowest throughput coasters surely, along with SAW? (Atleast SAW feels like it moves more frequently)

I have to admit when I went to CP in May I was disheartened Mean Streak had closed (it hadn't been announced when I'd booked) but given its reviews it seems I'm not missing much. It does look like an absolutely crazy RMC; but again, it really sucks that Cedar Point won't have a big-scale woodie; all they have left is Blue Streak which is cute and fun, but that's it. What was nice at Cedar Point was the collaboration of the old with the new; some highs and some lows. Personally I'd have preferred to see an RMC in place of Gemini; than this. BUT at least we have a beautiful little underrated coaster sat just infront of it

Agreed. But on paper it's a toss-up between planning permissions and restrictions making it challenging to develop the park in terms of adding rides and roller coasters of any real height. Combined with the fact the local council seem to want it to be more 'zoo' orientated again than theme park; and simply that the attendance figures remain steady. I'm in no doubt it would have Lego-syndrome, and every time that an attraction is added (or rethemed like Gruffalo) they'll see a spike that'll stick for a while; but on the whole they seem to stay steady (much like Lego. New area or ride creates a influx, and then it levels again for a few years). Whereas other places such as Thorpe and Alton have seen much more inconsistency in the past; IMO Thorpe due to target market - kind of a been there, done that clientele - and Alton with the fact it has to attract people to themselves over going to Drayton, or say Blackpool, even Flamingo to an extent.

Perhaps, however pre-shows can work. The big thing with rides and this whole value for money idea these days is to create more than just a ride, and to create an experience. A majority of people won't pay attention to queue line videos or audio anymore as they're all too busy on their smartphones; so by adding a pre-show it gives the ability to create a story or atmosphere; which guests are almost 'forced' to watch; and thus ensures it's more than just another roller coaster and is more of an experience. I'm pretty impartial to them; I don't love them, I don't hate them. But would you have any idea what Furius Baco's story is without the- actually, thinking about it even that one is a bit vague... but they have started to become a bit of a thing. Furius Baco, Baron at Efteling, even Mystic Timbers in a different sense and I'm sure there's more I can't think of. I'm about to defend you and disagree with you in two ways. Pirate rides: yes they work. Krake at Heide Park is a pretty strong example IMO of how a pirate themed roller coaster can really fit and work well; and whilst I may or may not prefer OTBH at Garda out of the two dive's; I can't criticise Krake's theme and how they've brought all that together as for Merlin, it's pretty decent. And then theres the flip of that in Colossos at Heide, which, doesn't really sit in a land; despite having an Aztec flat ride fair next to it; yet at the same time doesn't need to as a coaster should be able to sit as its own entity if far away from the next theme and hold its worth. So in that sense, I much agree with you that whilst the Flume was officially in Mutiny Bay/Merrie England; despite never having a theme that fitted that; it was always just far enough aside from it to just 'exist' as a ride and I was fine with that. So I do feel that this should be the same. (Summarise that last one: a pirate theme can be done well, Merlin have proven that. No it shouldn't need to fit if done well)

Its hard to say so early on, but it could go either way; it could be 'open topped' or it could be enclosed; however, either way I recon it's more difficult for them to shield the light using just a wood-frame structure than how they block out the Towers' windows / how attractions like Big Top are presented. Equally the courtyard is a fair size. Its hard to really vision it but if it's stripped clear and space is being cleverly used it's probably not too dis-similar to the footprint (if laid differently) of Big Top IMO. One thing is for sure it's a strange layout so far from the framework. Seemingly a few large 'rooms' and some tucked in which seem quite big for an actor corridor / jump scare; but illogical for part of a route - unless this maze is going to divide you out like Sub etc. But again, early days so hard to make any judgements.

Think my last comment got misunderstood by a few but since its now a page back I'm just gonna move right on past that... This for me is why I've never done a BIA. Whilst I am glad to hear its not like that so much anymore/hasn't been like that; despite my desire to try a BIA just for the sheer rush of doing a maze solo (which would be a personal achievement to me) I was always off-put by this whole concept of people being stripped down, and covered in god-knows-what whilst walking out with bruising etc. For me (personally, and I know, and appreciate people disagree and enjoy the above) a BIA is about having an intense maze experience where you can't cower or hide behind someone else; where nobody else is interrupting your experience. I recall a couple of years ago at the end of a night being grabbed in Cabin and having an actor sit onto of me on the bed and then leaving me to experience the maze solo - similar to the experience Sub Species offers; thats more what I expect from a BIA; not, not this weird sexual tormenting idea that I've always perceived of it.

Hard to give it up when so many people are suggesting it still as the unnamed IP alongside TWD, and that TWD is an overlay theme ? I still dont don't believe TWD is not in Cabin. And I still don't believe TWD is a strong enough 'theme' to be considered the main pull factor for Fright Nights. Plus they've been transparent in saying that there's new additions (plural). I'm still expecting a second addition/IP; if it's AHS I don't know as I don't believe anything anybody tells me. But I'm looking forward to finding out what it is because right now TWD on it's own isn't pulling anyone in.

American Horror Story *ahem* Tuesday 5th September is the premiere date of the new series. Black and yellow is the symbolic colours for the new series, Cult. The writing resembles loosely that of a beehive / bees which has been heavily used in the AHS marketing. The background image is very similar to that of AHS Coven: a wooden stake, a cross, ashes... Y'all think of me on Tuesday when it's announced. (on a serious note I'm still clutching at straws, I have literally no idea and this to me is just wishful thinking)
-
Second floor or not, that's a brick wall that's very similar in style to the one in th AHS maze at Universal ?? I wont let this rumour die. I will clutch at straws.

Based on reviews (ie Rotten Tomatoes and those shared through IMDb etc) Roanoake was not as well received as other seasons. It also comes at the lowest for overall viewing figures and Ryan himself said afterworld it didn't work the way they intended. Admittedly it wasn't my favourite season but it wasn't the worst. Equally though I don't mind Hotel; just disliked every element of Lady GaGa and her storyline within it. But I digress. I would say back to Fright Nights itself but there's nothing to talk about so... ?
-
I was wondering this and I was trying to remember which series had the character with the beanie in! Especially considering TBW she wears a grey bobble hat and I had it in my mind in AHS one of them wears a red one ? The twig people are also present in Coven. Only know that as I'm rewatching it ATM. IF our dreams come true and we get AHS it will surely go into Cabin. AHS outside just wouldn't really make sense unless it focuses on Roanoake - but it's the lowest regarded season yet - so even if you consider it would be probably similar to what universal offers, it would almost indefinitely be indoors. But in the flip of that, I'd except TWD outside so perhaps it fits together in the right way? I just still don't believe TWD is going into Cabin.

Perhaps I'm confusing it with the tarot cards but I don't think so ? So perhaps I'm thinking back to the year before. I dunno. What I do know is I only did two runs through Platform and both times I was near the back so I never saw it used in that. I just recall the use of it in Big Top where she's summoning the assistance of above to tell a fortune and bam, run, save me from clowns, and the party begins. But maybe I'm confusing it with the tarot cards. My Fright Nights memory has become pretty hazy. ? On a completely unrelated note; it's been mentioned a few times about viewing figures etc. and I'm sure I read somewhere that through streaming, and viewing figures on FOX (comparing both shows) AHS is a bigger deal than TWD. So I'm still holding out since this rumour has been about for a couple of years and really has been strong this year.

Don't get me wrong I don't love SWARM but I don't hate it either. But it's definitely on the bottom, debatably sharing a place with Gatekeeper (albeit GK is a touch more interesting). I don't really see the near misses on SWARM just aways felt they missed the mark when you compare to the tear through son Raptor. But then I feel Flug and Gatekeeper show you don't have to have them to make the coaster good; but for me, Swarm is just meh.
-
Because in the first scene of Big Top the Fortuneteller has a Ouiji board in her 'tent' which sometimes they had on the table and sometimes they had it with the props to the side. There wasn't a physical Ouiji board in Platform 15 to my memory. and JS217 that's right I remember now. I should really watch SAW again at some point.
-
Thank you. I don't recall too much of Platform. And I don't recall that aspect of the SAW films (gasping, as I am quite a big fan) but I haven't watched them for probably about a year if not more now. On a side note; I'm still waiting for American Horror Story *praying*
-
Each to their own thoughts but for me it is the weakest Wingrider I've been on (out of four). I'd put Raptor, Flug and Gatekeeper quite far above it - and Gatekeeper is a 'meh' coaster. Swarm is a ride that I could happily not ride and not miss; and I think adding VR to it may actually add something to the ride overall. I mean, out of all of Thorpe's rides; if/when it happens, I'd be happy with it to go on Swarm.
-
I really wanted this to be true, and whilst they are similar; alas, it's definitely for Blair Witch Project. It also makes sense with a remake of the film being planned, Lionsgate and/or Thorpe will want to keep it place, much like SAW (contract aside for that). _____ So to clarify from that image, we have: - Twig dangly thing, hat, and torch from Blair Witch Project. - Pig mask from SAW - Ouija Board, wigs, hats, and striped pants from The Big Top. - Atlanta Police Badge which has now been identified elsewhere as being relevant, somehow, to The Walking Dead. Can someone shed light for me on the mannequin head? Is that SAW just because the mannequins are in the queues as it has no relevance to the attraction(s) or films?

Am I the only person who's as content with Thorpe's free mazes as Towers' paid ones? I kind of begrudge the paid experience at Towers. I mean yeah, they're longer and more detailed in terms of theming but I don't tend to find the intensity anything different. If anything I think I get more scares and attention at Thorpe than I do Alton - with maybe the exception on Sub for one run last year. I love Scarefest as a whole event but nowadays we go for say one weekend and do the mazes once. Whereas we go to Thorpe and we can do the same maze two or three runs in a night - which we probably wouldn't if it was paid for - but I don't enjoy it any less. I don't do it 'Because its Fright Nights' I do it for the enjoyment factor. But then again I may be a bit bitter; I really dislike the current layout of TOTT. I'm not a big fan of Sub Species as I felt the first year was better (although I only saw the chainsaw ending); and I did Altonville once last year and got badly injured from actors being a bit too 'rough' so I'm not a fan of that maze either. On the flip of that, I still have a vivid; spine-chilling memory from Sanctuary. Ugh.

Just to follow up on that.. Aside from that; I'm still not overly fussed that Cabin is gone. It was fun at first, but it just was never the 'best'. I didn't experience Fright Nights until 2015 simply because I didn't think I'd like it; so I never did 'Classic Fright Nights' but IMO I much preferred Studio 13 and the two yeas of Big Top over the Lionsgate mazes. I still remember SAW: Alive being my first maze ever in 2015 and walking out thinking it was crap... I also still don't believe that this video means The Walking Dead is going into Cabin. I still feel very much that this year The Walking Dead is the 'overlay' of Fright Nights. We've had the Director, we've had the Ringleader... this year its, The Walking Dead. I've never seen it so I'm not too sure how it's going to work but from my limited understanding its something that would make more sense as an outdoor experience, even if its roaming? I can imagine it now, roaming actors, theming, announcements of contamination and zombies and all that crap over the park - oooh scary?! And.. Cabin in the Woods would fit an American Horror Story attraction too well for that to be missed. I'm still holding my breath against that rumour. I haven't even renewed my MAP and I don't think I will unless that comes to fruition, as I'd only likely visit FN's once.

I've always found Colossus uncomfortable, and moreso than SAW (even in the later years where I now do feel the roughness of SAW). I think even to have the similar 'fabricated' restraints used on Maverick and Kinda Ka (Clarification?) would benefit. Rides like California Screamin' with its next Gen trains (at the time) are noticeably smooth compared to Colossus; but 1729 is most likely correct in the sense of it is most likely the track. Now I may be wrong; but isn't Colossus technically one of the oldest 'Intamin thrill' coasters with OTSR and inversions - so, take out the wood coasters, bobsleigh, Gigas and family coasters before it - yes I know that takes a lot out but most of their work before Colossus after a skim through RCDB seems to be a lap bar or a different type of coaster entirely; and around that a fair few coasters have been refurbished and/or relocated. I suppose the only comparable would be Avalancha at the same age; in regards to if it is just Colossus or if it is just age.
-
Personally I'd expect the park to have a large roaming area or whole park roaming based on this Walking Dead stuff. I don't see it being a maze personally. EDIT: Still holding my breath for American Horror Story in Cabin.
-
I wouldn't say they were uninteresting... okay they're far from the best inverts but they weren't awful IMO. But you really feel the duelling is missing nowadays; and they don't have a place in Harry Potter (albeit thats Universal's fault for building HP around them) - and they give some good shed views as everyone seems to like talking about sheds... But when you look at them, they were quite badly designed. Large footprint, low forces; and a load and offload that works weirdly (front and back row bars must be down to advance, etc) so as much as I wouldn't like to see them scrapped; I wouldn't really be surprised if they were. Which I think is a shame as the new Hulk just, doesn't cut it; it's lost all its forces compared to old Hulk. Rip Ride Rock It needs no explanation so if Dragon's goes it kinda leaves the Mummy as the best of a bad bunch really... and I like the Mummy, but it isn't a coaster you'd put on your top rides list.
-
But again if you think about access to the ride. Also think about Big Top. Think about how much overall space that took considering it stretched a fair way towards Crust, all the way down to the other side of Zodiac; you're probably looking at a pretty similar space overall at Swarm island, so you wouldn't have 'avoidance' room to get to the ride, or a queue line particularly easily, unless it's a small set maze.
-
Wouldn't happen. With Big Top being placed at Crust; and Rush's exit coming into that pathway. The park will want a 'alternative route' and won't want any rides exiting into a scare zone as not all whom visit Fright Nights want in on the mazes. Same with Angry Birds area; will be kept for the kids as that's the point of it, and it's too central. In retrospective view the only area I feel they could make it work would be around Inferno somehow; say the lift hill across to the edge; then you have an alt route via Angry Birds and DBGT.
-
Sorry guys; I disagree. When you advertise the park to open at 10am, I don't expect to walk in the gate and then find rides advertised to open at 10:30am, 11am, and onwards. I don't really see how BPB are operating any better (or worse) than Thorpe; I'd say they really aren't worth comparing as one being better than the other, as like I've said, both and all parks have good points and bad points. Anyway, I believe you'll find theres specific Blackpool forums for licking their backsides for Anyway, back to Thorpe and such...
