Themeparks & attractions I've always wanted to visit
Smidget replied to Matt 236's topic in General Discussion
This. In addition to those two I'd love to do (in no particular order): Europa Park Phantasialand Gardaland (Ian wants to go back so I will EVENTUALLY be going fo'sure) Disneyland and California Adventure Dollywood Six Flags Great Adventure Hershey Park Not sure about Japanese parks just yet, I think I'd like to do some more European ones and the big American ones before I try out the Japanese coasters. No particular reason why, I just would. In September I'm going to PortAventura, and next year I'll be doing DisneyWorld, Universal, Seaworld and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, so I suppose they too could be added to the list but both are booked (PA is all paid for too), so they are definitely going to be done- 14 replies

Just got my work rota for next week and I can finally officially confirm my place at ERT! Ian and I should be there for the day, but I'm not sure if we will be there from opening. See you all then

I was planning on voting for you in that category anyway Liam

I do love how pluk pretty much owns this thread I've always found it interesting to read up on ride accidents - not because I'm morbid (although that is open to speculation ), but for some reason I just find it interesting. I much prefer reading about accidents that had no fatalities. Generally I'm not very interested in the mechanics of a ride, but when they go wrong I found myself wanting to know why and such. So thanks pluk for continuously posting in this thread! It means lazy people like me don't have very far to look.

First one. (On phone and the smiley options have disappeared and I'm too lazy to search for them/remember the code for them). Rare or medium? (Steak that is.)

Totally going off the topic of creepy crawly shizzle here but... It's the last week of term and of course everyone is going home for the summer Some of us are staying in Portsmouth though because we have jobs here. Last night we were saying goodbye and I said something about at least me and this other guy are in Portsmouth so we can see eachother, and he just responds with "Yeah but what's the likelihood we'll bump into eachother". Jeeesh, well, if you don't want to meet up with your friends then fine! He'd already disappeared earlier that night to go to a different club (although the one we were in was pretty terrible), and lately he's just been constantly moaning. Life is changing for us all again, but there really is no need to be such a (you know what...) towards your friends. Then again, he is the only one staying without a job, but that is his own fault... Some people just need to grow up, I guess

Spiders are far worse in my opinion, but daddy long legs don't really bother me unless they dive bomb my face... Same with moths. If they're chilling on the wall, fair game, but come near me and I will squeal like a little girl. Wasps are just evil. Bees are fine - I don't like being near them, but at least they won't sting you unless they feel it's absolutely necessary. Wasps just sting you for the lulz. (Although saying that I have never been stung, but I don't wish to either...)

I had suggested "Skype Named and Shamed" as a joke due to the amount of Skype pictures that pop up in here, but obviously not everything posted is from Skype! But yeah, I was thinking something along those lines - needs to be somewhat funny so people realise it's meant to be a joke topic, and not something that should be taken seriously.

I think this thread is hilarious tbh, although I have noticed it's always the same people who post in here. Shame on other members for not utilising this topic, eh? But I do think a name change is in order, as it seems to be no longer about what a member is good at, more "OMG THIS PIC IS SO FUNNY". And there ain't nothing wrong with that!

Erm, if implementing that means changing some kind of something or other in the forum's code (can tell how much I know about running a website...) then Ian or Marc would know. But atm they are both pretty ill, so it might be a little while before you get a response! (although I have mentioned it to Ian) If not then ignore me and listen to someone who knows what they are talking about EDIT: Apparently you use the attachment at the bottom of the page in Full Editor (not quick reply). Once it's been attached it should be in my media. Hope that helps!

Was going to say this thread should be renamed something like "Skype Named and Shamed", but then that pic of ThrillSeekerAlex was posted...

Good luck with that Josh! Although you're pretty smart so I'm sure you will do fine I've finished mine - one I am confident that I've done well on, the other... well, let's just say I think I managed 40% - just. That's not due to lack of revision on my part, it was just a horrible exam. No one came out of that exam feeling particularly confident. I guess we will see in mid-June when the marks are up. Ethan - the 10 hour art exam is not that bad! At least you get a week between the two days, and I found they went really quick. Keep in mind I did Fine Art AND Textiles, so I had TWO 10 hour exams

My post wasn't totally directed at you Mer (as you said) I just figured that seeing as it's being bought up again, might as well express a viewpoint! It might have seemed like it was directed at you, but I did type it whilst on my phone and it took forever, so I just hoped people would get that it wasn't a "OMG MER YOU'RE SO WRONG" post, cos it's not . Plus it did get a bit ranty, but that's because as I wrote it I started thinking about people who do abuse the system, etc etc. I do see both sides, but sometimes you do just have to grit your teeth and get on with things, do jobs you REALLY don't want to do. At the very least you do have some form of income, Mer, which is more than some people. Mental health awareness is on the rise, so hopefully people will have more acceptance of the difference disorders one can have, and with any luck treatments will become cheaper/more accessible. When I got diagnosed the doctor suggested antidepressants, but as my uni do have a free counselling service and I had already utilised that, he told me to just continue with that and see how things go; if I still found myself struggling come back and give the antidepressants a try alongside the counselling. Obviously it did work - it's amazing how much just talking things through with someone can help. For some people they need more, individual differences/experiences/genetics, and it can get difficult. I still get low points but the counselling helped me to realise what I need to do when I get like that, so *hopefully* I won't sink so low again. CBT is good - but at a cost. It's really expensive, that's why it's reserved for those who have been sectioned/are near sectioning, or the wealthy. Whilst normal counselling might cost a bit, it's still better than nothing. It's tackling the symptoms/problem in a different way - drugs deal with the biology, counselling the psychology. Get both and who knows, it could make a very big difference.

Not the first or last, no. I hadn't said this before, because I don't see the point of posting all my personal problems online, but I've been diagnosed with depression. Rather than feel sorry for myself I decided to actually change myself and pull myself out of the depressive episode - which I did. Of course it wasn't easy, but you don't need drugs to make you feel better. Luckily I had access to free counselling through my Uni, which I appreciate not everyone has access to, but it is possible to beat depression. I also appreciate I may not have been as 'bad' as some people, but that doesn't make it any less of a struggle. I've been through some really bad episodes in the past, but that's just it - it's the past! You can't let the past hold you back and stop you from living, and you can't use it as an excuse to not do certain things. A few years ago I felt there was no hope for me, but now I'm at the No.1 university for my course, I have a job (yes, it may only be summer part time, but it's enough to pay off my holiday to Florida, pay bills for summer and well, live). I know a lot of people with Asperger's/austism, depression and a few other more severe mental disorders, and guess what? They're not letting it hold then back - they have all worked their butts off, whether that be full time work or in education to get themselves into university. Some have been sectioned, but are they using this as a reason to not work? No. In short I agree with Holly. Sometimes you don't have a choice. As rubbish as that is, that's life. It might not be fair, but who the hell said life is fair? People who think they deserve only the best without actually working for it are living in a fantasy world. It's either work, live on the streets, or abuse the benefits system. I know which one I prefer. Oh, and depression is one of the most common mental disorders (can't recall the statistics off the top of my head though). Numerous people suffer from it at least once in their lives, but for most they just get on with it. There are far worse disorders one could suffer from, but letting depression rule your life and not actually fighting it will get you nowhere.

I doubt it would be 11pm - you shouldn't be starting drinking then, you should already be drunk

"Opens May 2013" should be rewritten as "May open 2013"

Well I haven't really followed this construction much. If they could frame it as though they were photos then yeah, maybe.
