  1. X

planenut replied to Garyy's topic in The Past
Snippet picked up yesterday it seems that X will be staying though it's departure had been on the cards, and they may convert the building to an event venue to allow them to have noisier and larger events than in the Dome. This change may be put on hold due to the new ride.
  2. What about sticking with the Shark theme as they aim to make so much money out of the queue jump systems and car park, without thought to those already in the queues? The staff certainly don't seem to have much knowledge of the future ride, but I am starting to get the snippets together - zap! zap! As the "rangers" carousel is going and though much more modern, with Merlins treatment of the original carousel, I don't hold much hope for this one being relocated.
  3. Really, would you run round to "re-ride" it? I think not, even a carousel is something you would want to go on twice in one day, but Hex? Sorry, I suppose I'm being a bit hypercritical as that is not my thing, but I do prefer something that I would want to go back on pretty soon, not once each visit.
  4. Jason and CWPAfanMalcolm great varied ride counts chaps - it was a pretty good day, well, very good day.
  5. Agreed - very sad. Due to the weather forecast for the last day of the season being brilliant, I decided to leave everything else and go over for it. Surprisingly not massive crowds. Some pleasant encounters, including meeting and riding with TPM members briefly, riding Stealth with a lad who broke his 150 rides for the season, let's not go into figures, another TPM member on his 312th, meeting some familiar members of another club and riding with them a few times. Riding Stealth with other people that Merlin would get annoyed if I mentioned; on Stealth a lady who said she was pleased she ridden it with someone who could calm her, but would never ride it again, and seeing the horse loose on the platform several times. A great finishing day, a bit of a party atmosphere, and whilst riding ......Stealth, seeing loads of fireworks in the dark at least for an hour. Thanks Thorpe Park.
  6. Today, probably my last chance to do any riding this season, night shift tonight, so I went to TP. Luckily for me, Stealth was working, only about 1000 people in the whole park. Some of the queues were non-existent, so yes, I actually went on some other things to finish off my season. Nemesis Inferno x 1 Slammer x 1 (only me on one side and two others opposite) Colossus x 1 Saw, out of action during my extra-normal saunter Vortex x 1 Rush x 1 SWARM x 1 X x 1 Stealth, more than one! Total ride count - over 8 A nice day to be able to say cheerio and thanks to many staff members, and the rain held off, except for a light shower during the afternoon.
  7. Hmm, still not sure that this is really on the cards; something about the set up of the company the "process", and the verbal representations. I will wait until building is in progress to make my next comment on this.
  8. Shame, though I doubt it will be worth me getting over there, it would be good for them. Megaphobia never seems to bother the sheep in Oakwood, and they graze beneath it.
  9. Ha, favouritism, and I bet she got two sugars.
  10. Methinks that if this is a ride, in the dark, going forwards, then in a few years time they'll put the lights on and turn the seats round.
  11. But they never come round with the teas!
  12. The Black Hole at AT used to have on-ride pics, no problems. Though it's not a high building therefore one may dismiss a coaster ride, Rock'n'Rollercoaster is a fairly low level building and that has plenty of umph!
  13. Love that line.."The court was told Padgett worked in telesales but was between jobs."
  14. Apparently he knew he had a condition, no fault has been found with the ride. I hope he recovers.
  15. I was night shift last night, so as the weather was to be so good, decided to go in to the park today - big mistake - I had not realized it was a special event day and therefore all Annual Pass holders were expected to pay a tenner, the queues were massive, the car park queue was to the gate. As I had only intended to visit until five, I actually walked away. I suppose if I'd checked the site properly I would have seen the detail.
  16. It also takes BPB back to it's routes, as in the Hyram Maxim Flying Machines were created by Maxim to fund his research into flight, before the Wright Brothers took their recorded their first.
  17. BPB to introduce a new ride next spring, themed on the Red Arrows, http://www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com/rides/skyforce/ and similar to this http://vimeo.com/6446046 Looking forward to taking this for a spin!
  18. I had my chance to try Air Race during the last two weeks and I thought it pretty good. Actually, I love GForce and that hang time. We are all built differently and though I was able to ride it continuously, others in the group either did not ride it at all, or only once. As to "built differently", I ride Shockwave with my legs lifted up so I get a tighter roll, and I think, though it's somewhat late for me, it protects other areas. DM, nice park.
  19. Well according to my bank account, I don't own TP, but today, happened to coincide with my attendance at Stealth, someone asked me if I was a pilot who was required under the training scheme to undergo several trips on Stealth, which I am not.
  20. Well went to TP today (16th October), and got stuck, on Stealth. Well, what I mean is there were so few people in the park, I could not leave Stealth as the team kept forcing me to ride it. Dead lucky with the weather, as the one shower gave me a chance to lunch and apparently, Stealth broke down, so when I went back, all dry, all working, and they made me keep riding, honestly. Oh, and someone had recognized me from a picture in a book on sale in the shop, apparently I own Thorpe Park - I ought to check my bank account.

I think, pull the shoulder restraints down to touching whilst "sitting tall", one cannot then go anywhere. I think the OSR's are important when it comes to larger people as the lap bar will vary it's grip with the movement of the body tissue - there, I'm trying to be polite.
  22. My turn, enjoy your lives, smugly get on with your own and you will reap the rewards. If anybody feels they have to comment on someone else's life, it doesn't say much for their own does it? The longer you know someone, the more irrelevant the age. Mates aren't "ageist".

I too wish it did four; I am still certain that the cycle is tamer than previously.
  24. Not quite the same thing, though all caused by pressure (I believe) but a lad next to me on Stealth yesterday, suffered a quite unexpected nose bleed as we cleared the braking zone; apparently the staff see it quite often. Luckily the lad was none the worse for it, and was able to leave under his own steam and was comfortable.
  25. Now that is nasty, but saved by the actions of another by following the rules - perhaps the "inspector" needs a refresher course.
