  1. Sadly, for me, I felt that once the ride ever went forwards, and they put the lights on, it lost it's madness. I took my two mini-monsters there when X-NWO opened in 1996, and the disorientation of that was amazing, and we all felt it was a great ride. I don't actually like the leaning towards "horror", even feeling that the themeing of Saw is inappropriate for the park, but then, I am a dinosaur, though I do see all this as taking away the appeal to the family group. Commercially, it works for Merlin at the initial stages, but long term, as Deejay states, there is a loss of the re-rideability appeal. Why else would they throw away money by offering free re-entry after one full day ticket payment, that to me is commercial stupidity; yes a discount, but not totally free. (told you I was a dinosaur)
  2. I have met some people recently who wouldn't want nor need to look for a discount, not me. Stealth stuck up top? point zero of a second.
  3. Too right, I'll be there in a fortnight; bobsleigh is well worth it if the queue is manageable. For that damp feeling, Drenched will cool you, but only open from 2p.m..
  4. It was an interesting day yesterday, with five power outages, it caught me once on an outgoing train and once on inbound arriving at the platform, both on Stealth, but fairly quickly dealt with by the staff. The park is supplied by two different sub-stations, each in different Power Company districts, therefore not all rides are affected. Whilst the power came back on fairly quickly, some rides did not operate for a while due to the chance of riders being stuck out on the ride, and apparently it takes about twenty five minutes for the Rapids to fill sufficiently. The Beach was also affected due to pump/filters not working. Whilst on a trip to check out the ablutions at one stage, a guy out on the "street", randomly started moaning at me about having paid £50 for his ticket then no rides being available; he took some persuading that power outages were not in the control of TP. TP were offering people return day tickets.
  5. Being an old fffffffffellow, it doesn't interest me and yes, I think too that it's very trashy. The Company has not appeared to have been worried about relevance in the past, but more interested with the gimmick. Plenty of the young staff are very pleased that this association has been made.
  6. The Dreamworld Thunder Rapids inquest has been adjourned until October, that will be a full two years since the horror occurred ........... http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-06-29/thunder-river-rapids-ride-shuld-not-have-been-in-service-inquest/9924140
  7. Okay, thanks.
  8. Whilst the incident was quite one of the nastiest I've heard of on rides and in theme park/ funfairs, the "report" referred to is clearly not a word for word copy of an official account or record; there is opinion in there which is that of the writer, and would not be allowed in an official report, unlike the recommendations that would be made. The observations of that lack of concern and care are real, but a link to the original would, I think, be more appropriate. Those responsible for the failures will be going to Court. For those involved, the relatives, friends and those who witnessed it have my sympathies.
  9. Heard today on Stealth, "my brain's too loose for my head!", I didn't look again.
  10. Ah, see what you mean, but as someone suggested, if it costs anything more than one penny, TP would need a lot of persuading. I think with the history of the ride, the people will not want to change, and therefore would need some "policing".
  11. I'm sure if you had a sensible alternative, then TP would like to hear it.
  12. We are all different, and have different perceptions of everything in life, everything. If we were not different, then there'd be one heck of queue for what you did like. We don't have to like everything either, but to ride it once gives you the information to have an opinion on it. Never worry about the things you don't fancy doing, it'll give you more time to do the things you liike. If someone has the time to criticize you, it's their brain cells they are wasting, enjoy your time.
  13. Some people are very responsible, but sadly the majority, not that they're being irresponsible, just would not be safety aware, and the thought of anything hitting anyone on the ride really doesn't bear thinking about. The only seats useable for filming would be front rows and even if secured, the items would be clearly seen. TP and Merlin are in it to make money, and therefore they would sooner you buy their material. Make up some video off the rides, then enjoy the ride itself.

Thanks, I think I'll wear a boxing helmet next time. In the meantime, I will be talking with engineering.

During downtime on Stealth yesterday, I sampled Colossus as I do did like the layout and the ride, but my goodness, it was the worst ear bashing on a ride for years even though I was trying to counter it with holding my head against the padding.
  16. Well done to the park; there are many times when a location closes entirely when, like this, a section closed off is only necessary, and it encourages people to "show solidarity" (sorry, strange choice of words again) with the park and it's workforce.
  17. This is a tragedy, for the park and for the public, especially those who happily experienced the entertainment given. As to the wrong humour or words, we can all plead guilty to that sometimes; unfortunate, but not always with any malice intended.

Chatting with someone today who had experienced Wicker Man, was saying that he thoroughly enjoyed and considered it was quite intense for the whole ride. With the other comments, I am looking forward to riding this.

    Er, kids scare me!
  20. The smoke on Stealth was working on Thursday for the first time I recall this year - sadly with the alteration to audio there are no screeching tyres, so this causes more worry for some than interesting effect.
  21. Talking with my "late eightys" Aunty, when I informed her of my enthusiasm for roller coasters she loudly commented...... "What? that's worse than tattoos, don't you tell any of my friends, up to now they liked you"......................right between the eyes!
  22. Erm, yes.
  23. Met a chap yesterday at TP, and whilst having a brief chat he told me that "this is my last ride, I've got to catch my flight." Yup, he flew over from Dublin to visit TP for the day.
  24. If you ever get the chance, their Twilight Bat Cave is well worth a visit. If you do the safari park drive, make sure your cooling system is on good form.
  25. There was a particular group on the park yesterday, from "Essex". This did cause some delay to the ride loading and I politely reminded them that they were holding up the whole process. I'm sure they also caused some disruption on other rides, but then, I suppose it was the only way.
