planenut got a reaction from Inferno in Hyperia
As an ERT it was disappointing, as a ride it is brilliant. It's okay for me as I live locally but many members travelled a long way and had paid.
What adds to the annoyance is how late the ride opened to the general public with staff members re-riding the "test" runs; not tactful.

For me yesterday, I found it extremely frustrating that they chose to remove a train at the beginning and during the ERS, then still sent an empty test train. Sadly this is similar to another certain English park that gradually reduces the amount of available seats by placing the sandbags on board in preparation for the following mornings tests.
When it comes to throughput I cannot see TP being bothered as they have a limited capacity, and any people in the park have already paid, they don't have to worry.

Me too on the "event" which was a little frustrating at times, so yes, I have finally ridden Hyperia. I think it is an outstanding roller coaster with some unique tracking. I do like the restraint.
No doubt many will make adverse comments but it is what we have, it is great, and it cannot be changed, enjoy it.
I don't think one can compare it to other rides, it is unique, in my opinion.

Finally, after thousands of launches over several years, the one thing I never wanted, I had a rollback today. Within a couple of hours of telling several people that I never wanted one, it happened. The power of the launch failed about half way down the run and we barely rose three quarters up the vertical.
Still they could not get me a cuppa..........and after rolling us back to the platform, we were off within fifteen minutes.

I know I am an old "f" but it seems the "f word" is the default setting in most peoples' vocabulary. It's used to complain, show shock, exclaim joy, amazement, awe, and to educate children. Let's hope they never discuss fornication, they'll be lost for words.
I heard a youngster on Stealth exclaim, after the ride, "oh my gosh!" I thought that was nice.

I heard a few interesting candidates for this thread on my recent solo trip to Legoland Windsor and Thorpe Park...
When I heard this quote, I was exiting Thorpe Park over the bridge. Hyperia was in view, and as I was walking, a test train was cycling. A man was walking next to me.
Man: "Oh just f**k off, Hyperia... you f**king flaky bast**d!" The man then stuck his middle finger up at Hyperia multiple times.
When I heard this exchange, I was walking towards Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park. A group of teenage boys were walking next to me.
Boy 1: "Look, there's Saw!" Boy 2: "I don't think that's Saw, mate..." Boy 1: "Nah, bruv; that's definitely Saw!" Boy 3: "He's right, fam; it's red 'cos of all the blood, see! That's gotta be Saw, init?"
When I heard this exchange, I was in the queueline for Ninjago at Legoland. A father was trying to usher his small children out of the Lego play area, with other adults from his group watching on.
Father: "Come on, kids; let's get on the ride!" The kids expressed reluctance to leave the Lego play area. Father: *gesturing to the other adults* "Oh for f**k's sake... we come all this f**king way, and the kids just want to play with f**king Lego all day! I could have just stayed in me living room... wouldn't have cost a hundred f**king pounds and I wouldn't have had to wait in f**king queues all f**king day!" -

On Stealth today, a chap who I sat beside had his two very young children on the row in front of us. As is my way, and establishing that this was their first time on the ride, I asked if he'd given them any advice? He then called out to the kids shouting "it'll be alright!". It was, but I personally thought he could have done better.

planenut got a reaction from Matt N in Which Thorpe Park coaster (or group of coasters) is best to start the day on, in your view?
If it fits your plans, leave the more popular rides until lunch time, and split your refreshments into two breaks, if you must eat.
Stealth today had consistent queues of over one hour. Likewise Nemesis Inferno.
There is apparently an app. to access on the phone giving q times, but don't ask this dinosaur for more details on that.
If you are visiting on your own, try to let the staff know, it can help. Enjoy your day.
As Tactic suggests, and especially if there are plenty of coach loads, leave some of your favourites until after 4p.m..

Thanks Josh, and others.
There was a single riders queue on the right hand stairs a few years back, before they designated that as a "disabled access".
The stories of Rita and Stea!th being designed as one ride have some truth. Height restrictions at AT and space at TP resulted in the split. Who else feels the the drop from the top hat has wasted power/potential? So many riders go on about getting a "rollback" yet in reality it's a waste of ride time, though for those who have stood in the queue it would be like getting a double ride.

Luckily for the humans, nobody was hit, the damage was under the front of the train, but as happens with pigeons, an explosion of feathers.

planenut reacted to JoshC. in JoshC. to appear on Countdown!
I'll be making my television debut and appearing on classic quiz show Countdown! My debut is this Friday (Oct 28th), airing at 2.10pm on Channel 4, and of course available on catch up after.
There'll also be a bit of geeky chatter and roller coaster puns, because of course they run with me being a roller coaster enthusiast and turned it into my entire personality (not far wrong tbf).
Would be lovely if anyone gave my episodes a watch!

A young "lady" today asked me if her eye lashes had moved, I assured they had not, but everything else had!

I’ve only just seen this! Reminds me a bit of my younger sister who considers the flying jumbos something of a breakthrough for her personally. I took her to Chessie 3 years ago with my nephews and she wouldn’t even go on Scorpion express or the log flume. My niece and I went on Rameses and my sister looked genuinely concerned 🤣🤣.
Also I’m creasing at the term “digestive evacuation” - brilliant! Speaking of stealth, my younger sister had a job that she had to drive sort of near to Thorpe and asked if I’d ever done “that big white tall arch thing”

planenut got a reaction from Han30 in We Are All Different
For a long time I have commented on how different people are, physically, emotionally, interests and hobbies. I knew that a sister of mine was not interested in rides, roller coasters or flat, and she often wondered about my mental state. However, I did not expect that having shown her a video of Stealth, she would have to dash to the bathroom for a digestive evacuation!
at least I know she will never be in my way at a theme park.
