  1. Clearly something happened on park today as reserve and ride seemed to stop at around 3 and the park stayed open an extra hour.

Also in reply to an early comment the smiler has a through put of 1300 and storm surge barely ever reaches 400. The reason I didn't say the cinema because it was already there and the dodgems throughput will vary depending on who is riding. Throughput doesn't really depend on length of a ride either just look at oblivion with a maximum throughput of 1900.

  2. The backwards queue was open when I last visited (Saturday), and they were also giving tickets to use for the back rows as well.

I do think though they should just have one queue for forward and back as it would work much better for queue experience and throughput, also considering that there were a few back rows going through empty on my visit due to dispatching workings.

Wow I didnt even know they still had tickets go give out. Ive been 5 times this year and haven't seen them in use once.

  3. Haha fair enough. Never qued for backwards row this season so didn't know this. I just assumed that the backwards ticket people used to be given at the baggage area people used to hide and then just go forwards.

Clearly at some point they got rid of them which meant that people queueing can go where ever irrelevant of where they queued. For example on sunday backwards was walk on and forwards was 20 mins so people walked down the backwards queue and jumped on going forwards.

  4. Another solution would be to build a ride with a higher throughput. They were fully aware queues were too long when they built the swarm but they still decided to go with an average 1200pph. If an american park were to build a major ride with a throughput of 1200 or even Alton towers did that they would see non stop moaning. All thorpe need to do is start adding new higher capacity rides. There hasn't been a major flat in the park since 2005. Storm surge and the dodgems do not count as high capacity. A new flat with a throughput of 500 would help. Have 2 or 3 of those plus a 1500 coaster and queues would become a bearable level. Instead Thorpe have gone down the cheaper option which will ultimately end up as a waste of money.

  5. I would let them off for stealth being on 1 train but then I remembered that reserve and ride exists so I now want to find as many reasons as possible to blame them for something. Which now means stealth is in my firing line. I understand that getting it to working condition is hard but ill have to wait and see in how long it takes to fix this problem.

  6. Something ive just seen is Saw The ride front. How on earth do you manage that one and why on earth do you have a second queue for it. There is only 2 rows so how and why would you make 2 queues. Another thing is that the number of dates has plummeted what was about 7 dates is now 4. Also I hope this system is taking into account that stealth is on half capacity.

All I can say Thorpe is that you have truly lost it and this entire thing is insanity.

  7. It strikes me as mad. I would instantly stop maintenance to a train and divert the crew to the broken one. In the overall scheme of things trains are a pretty simple piece of kit and the things that can go wrong with them are limited. They should just switch the components around and get it back up and running as quickly as possible. If I remember correctly stealth had another issue this time last year which put it on 1 train operation.

  8. Even though Slammer is back open, we still haven't had every ride open this season yet this season seeing as Quantum has been down the last 2 days now.

    Anyone know what's going on?

No idea whats going on with it but they expect it to be fixed soon as they keep allocating full staff towards it, which results in 3 people standing at the entrance saying its closed.

  9. That's a shame, they must of been either trialing it or they ran out of tickets from people misusing the que, keeping there ticket and going on it forwards.

Ticket? they haven't used tickets in about a year. People misuse the queue all the time. It seems to be pick the shortest queue out of the 2 and choose in the station.

  10. So if this system were to be implemented what is there to stop people from queuing in the way that we would do so currently? Would there be a downside to doing it this way? To be entirely honest the entire system confuses the hell out of me and I really dislike the idea of it :/

The virtual queue replaces standard queueing. So you can not queue by standing in line. Instead you reserve a place via your smart phone and when that time slot arrives you may enter the queue line. This means the queue you join is only about 15 minutes long.

  11. I would agree on that. Using this as a fastrack system and for fright night scare mazes would probably be beneficial. using this for everyday use on everything or just coasters is a terrible move and will make the situation worse. As ive said before I experienced reserve and ride once and all I can say is never again. Normally I will ride swarm a good 5 to 30 times a day with the reserve and ride that was reduced to 1 ride. I know what the other rides are like so I go for my favourites not the same rides I can find else where.

  12. What was the point in Stealth having 3 trains if they're running it 1 when there's a problem with one?

They no longer have the 3rd train. Well they have the parts for the 3rd train but in no way is it usable its more scattered across the maintenance shed.

  13. The more problems it has the better. I'm one of the very few people left in this world with out a smart phone and I don't want to spend my time running back and forth between the dome and stealth. I want my ability to get off stealth in the morning and get straight back on 4 or 5 times. then work my way round the coasters. Running between the dome and each coaster is stupid. I'm not spending my time in the increased waits for the flat rides, I go to Thorpe park for the coasters and apart from rush and slammer I can find the other rides else where. I don't go to Thorpe park for the other reasons they seem to believe people go there like shopping and "fine dinning". If this does become permanent I wont be coming back until this stupid system is gone. So if anyone knows if this is becoming permanent please let me know and you can save me some money from buying my next annual pass.

  14. I dont think that they can rewen a ride detonator by just changing the name and soundtrack but I may be wrong will find out so it will still give that gut wrenching feeling but I have only seen good reviews from people

I dont think they changed the soundtrack. It was literally just a sign change and a bird added to the console room.

  15. Jason's a nice bloke, he's very active on Twitter too and up for chatting to people (and reads this forum - hello if you see this Jason!).

Definitely better than what they had before, and he can push them in the right direction.. and is really. I dislike Angry Birds Land in how it's appeared however I do enjoy everything else the park has been doing since he's come on board and destroyed the Thrill W@nker Capital stuff.

I would agree that him removing the thrill capital stuff was a good idea. However I think the over marketing needs more of a theme than generic theme park. Although saying that it doesn't stop Cedar fair and they seem to be doing pretty well with generic theme park.

  16. He joined a year and a bit ago. That probably means he hasn't got his hands on the next coaster. However it would be nice if he could develop angry birds land a bit more. To be a land I think it needs a bit more than 3 rides of which 1 is as out of place as rita in the dark forest.

  17. I dont see any outcome where this will reduce total queueing time. All it will manage to do is make everyone angry as all the rides would have been booked by midday like on the trails. So for the last 4 or so hours your limited to flat rides which because of the system have massive queues. The server is the only thing I expect to work out of this entire thing. I strongly hope that Thorpe realise the problems this will cause and limit to a paid for system acting as fastracks.
