Looks as if they are going to be putting the main arm down into maintainance position like they do in winter, would explain the green crane. Either that, or they are removing it which I highly doubt. And in the background Saw seems as if its running an empty train, Gerstlauer quality...
  2. It probably went down to maintainance and cost to run it.... Just another thing that has been scrapped over the years and has never properly been replaced....
  3. They still do, in the control room next to the world record and various images of Colossus on each of its inversions, there is a leaderboard and the record is like 1600 or 1800 if I remember and read it rightly....
  4. The main decisive point with RnR will probably be fright nights but even if it fails I cant see it being scrapped. The thing is for fright nights RnR isn't completely necessary for the big coasters because they all seem to be quiet quiet after 4-5ish but then I guess it gives them another scenario to test....
  5. The thing is, it isn't as big of as a problem, because people dint really mind if it is wrong on there because they are not physically in a queue line, giving them the freedom to go on other attractions ..
  6. That would help, and then you filter the throughput into that and you've got your queue time, instead of a turnstyle though you could have a member of staff with a clicker counter or you could do it through a camera which then a computer program counts the numbers going through... I guess that would solve it, but then you wouldn't be able to take advantage of wrong queue times, such as a 5 minute walk on queue being advertised as 45 because it hasn't been changed....
  7. If this is the case it creates the idea of maybe they should develop a system that does it for them which in turn would make it more accurate which would then increase guest happiness and so on but it wouldn't happen....
  8. Does anyone know if at Thorpe, staff members calculate the queue times or is it calculated by a computer by putting in certain factors and that.
  9. But it really isn't that hard to work out, I still find the best thing to do is factor the things yourself and work out a rough queue time, by the length of how far it goes back, which extension are open, past experiences of around that point and the amount of trains, if it is only on one I find it's between 1.7 and 2.1 times longer so do that and you can have a rough estimate....

Thorpe I think would also benefit from park-wide fright night theming, even if its just to the level of Chessie where they put pumpkins round the place because if they did, it would add to the immersion of a horror event.
  11. If a ride is on reduced capacity, the queue is bad enough as it is, but if it is, RnR should be turned off on that ride are there should be significantly less RnR spaces available and when a ride is on reduced cap, the queue time should show as longer then expected, such as a normal 1 hour queue on two trains for Colossus, should be advertised for about 1.5 hours on reduced capacity.... And a good improvement would be that on the queue sign there was a message stating how many trains were running and other stuff like that.

May just not want to be giving anything away, or they just haven't completely sorted out and planned the event yet...
  13. Typical....

But with dragon falls we have been waiting years for the re theme that they first scheduled for 2013 and then said post submissions and we will choose the best one for a retheme over the 2014-15 close season, instead it closes in 2015 for a few months putting up metal fences that ruin the immersion even more, Chessington just hasn't been looked after properly and as everyone else has said they don't think forward... Next thing were gonna see is the dragons falls bridges being removed because they are too high off the ground....

Even If it did go onto the bigger coasters, by then they would probably have nailed the system but it would be a lot more effective on saw and nemesis inferno then on Colossus, Swarm and Stealth because they have four-abreast seating and the others only have two and I find seem to normally have the seats full all the time as it is....

Might suggest a sensor fault or there might have been something stuck in the conveyor or another conveyor related incident or the actual trough may be broken....
  17. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but when they were laying the foundations, it seemed as if there was a few underground rooms to the side nearest iac and the building itself may have part allocated to a fright night attraction as my bloody valentine was there last year and a similar thing is done with the x building....
  18. Matt10 replied to spoon's topic in The Past
Since as we can tell where my bloody valentine was last year is now a construction site will it be remover or relocated? And now thinking about it, is it likely that part of the wc16 building will be allocated to fright night events similar to that of X's building?

The sprinklers worked for a few days towards the beginning of the season.

It might actually be an idea to relocate samurai to somewhere else within the park and get a whole new flat ride in samurais location that would be around the same size or bigger as long as it doesn't go past the rocks opposite, but somehow I don't see that will ever happen....

Yeh if they did replace it, they definitely need to make sure it has none of the fairground lights, and should probably go for a new colour scheme and maybe rename it and I still wish that they would make the new zodiac look like the original which actually fit in with the lost city theme....
  22. Matt10 replied to Phill's topic in General Discussion
True they never advertise it, but whenever your in the park you always hear people talking about slammer and how they haven't seen anything else like it and how in their opinion it is the scariest ride and so on so Thorpe really should advertise it even if its only in the ad for a few secs it would still boost it's popularity, yet most of the adverts always include samurai which as many have said there are so many other better models of out there in the world...

Over the last month or so it has been breaking down quite a lot with the water draining while the ride has been running and then it has had to stop running and evac most of the time so might be a water pressure problem or a drainage one...

All I can see from this is it being good, but also quite a few errors in batching from staff and them not factoring in broken seats and stuff like that...
