  1. Only The Sun would label a bit of foam falling off a ride as a "horror high speed incident"
  2. Probably for the best with how badly it's been butchered over the last few years. Interested to see what takes it's place since I haven't really heard any rumours, I guess we'll just have to "Keep our eyes open or we'll miss out".
  3. Thanks, it wasn't particularly to say Nemesis was rough, there was one turn that banged my head about a bit (before the last inversion) whereas I found Smiler butter smooth. Nemesis was fine apart from that one turn on my first ride. There are quite a few I want to get to, money permitting and obviously that's not ultimately up to me. Phantasialand is the one I most want to get to (hoping to make Germany my birthday trip this year) and although it's unlikely we'll get to do both me and my mum both want to get to PortAventura for my sister's birthday although she wants to go to Majorca (not that's she actually knows what Majorca is like) How dare you! EDIT May as well add I still haven't done a coaster with a near-vertical drop yet, would it be best to go for Oblivion first, or Stealth or Saw? Which provides the least airtime etc.
  4. I only said this last Friday but I honestly found Nemesis to be rougher than The Smiler (still enjoyed it more)
  5. "I'll sue this park!" Said by a child stuck on Vortex, before the ride had even started mind you.

    Top 10's

Right then, let's see how this has changed since I've been on most of the rides at Towers and Thorpe (excluding Oblivion, Stealth and Saw) 1. Nemesis - Obvious reasons 2. The Swarm - Veeerrry very close between this and the Smiler. I think I enjoyed Swarm more but they're pretty much level (my shoulders don't enjoy Swarm though) 3. The Smiler - ^ 4. Nemesis Inferno - I wasn't convinced at first but after three rides I am. Honestly, these four are very close. 5. Megafobia - This and Wicker Man are pretty much level, Megafobia just about edges it though for it's airtime and length. 6. Wicker Man - ^ 7. Galactica - Between this and Dragon's Fury, I like Galactica but not as much as those above. 8. Dragon's Fury - I still love DF. Just like pretty much all the other rides these four are very close. 9. Colossus - If I had been on more big coasters it wouldn't even make it in, not too keen on concussions or breaking my neck. 10. Flight of the Pterosaur - I'm honestly surprised this even makes it in, let alone be on par with Colossus. In all honesty I had just as much if not more fun on Flight than Colossus Rita doesn't even make it in because everything after the launch I literally find boring.
  7. Well, I've been on one launch coaster and that's Rita. So Thirteen's brake run launch takes the prize
  8. Yes I did, third go. Just wish I got the front too :P
  9. I'm finally home - I said I'd go more in depth when I get home so here we are - huge props to my friend who I went with, he was very reassuring and understanding, huge props to the member of staff on the Smiler (I'll get to that after) and huge props to the staff on Nemesis who looked about ready to leave but kept it open for the five of us still on it to have one more go. With the Smiler, I was this close to not getting on. I hadn't fully made up my mind in the queue, we got to the station and there was space for two on the first train, I passed over the RAP card and started to say "I'm not sure if I actually want to ride yet -" but before I could finish my sentence the card was signed and she pointed us to Row 4. I still hadn't made up my mind by the time I was on it, but there was no going back and inverting didn't feel like how I thought it would. I might do a blog post or trip report with my reviews of all the rides, right now I mainly want to get to bed, but what I will say now is, I don't know if I got a good train or whatever but unpopular opinion in 3... 2... 1... I found Nemesis rougher than the Smiler. I still prefer Nemesis as a coaster, but I found Smiler smooth as butter when I was on it. You'll notice I skipped over Rita. I honestly found everything after the launch quite boring. I thought I'd get way more airtime on the two airtime hills, but although I felt myself lift out of my seat I never felt anything in my stomach. Plus it's rough. I only just rate it above RMT. As I said, didn't get on Oblivion. I'd warned my friend it'd be the last coaster out of all of them I got on, and in the end I didn't have time. My mum and my friend went on together, I stayed off as I hadn't even done Rita yet (we couldn't use the RAP for a bit anyway). In the end, I sacrificed (pun intended) Oblivion in order for a third go on Wicker Man, as my little sister hadn't been on too many rides and WM is her favourite. I still feel like I'm spinning as I write this, on Monday I'm off to Thorpe, will be doing Inferno, Colossus and Swarm at the very least, maybe Stealth and at a big push Saw, mainly down to the theming more than anything else. Maybe, just maybe in the blog post I'll share my ORP from Smiler. Maybe. Definitely not the one from Rita though.
  10. Well, about to leave Alton Towers having been on The Smiler, Nemesis and Rita. Absolutely buzzing, only coaster I didnt get on was Oblivion down to time (although my friend and mum did, and I probably would have if it wasnt for my sister whod done about 2 rides and wanted to go on Wicker Man). Nemesis was probably the best, Smiler 2nd and Rita ranks pretty low in my top 10. Had three goes on Nemesis in the end, Ill post a bit more when I get home and have an actual keyboard.
  11. Sorry for the double post, but I just got off Rita. Honestly despite biting half my lip off in the air gates, apart from the launch it wasnt all that. Rate WM, 13, DF and Galactica over it tbh. How do the other rides compare? Is it a "done Rita now you can do _____" situation?
  12. I'm going to Alton Towers on Friday with a friend, but at Thorpe I realised my biggest fear around inverts and the like: For some reason I can't stand the idea of having my feet in the air during an inversion. I don't know why or what brought that about, but it is what it is. We do have a plan for what we're going to do though - Wicker Man, Galactica and Thirteen (the rides I've done) followed by Rita, then either Nemesis or Smiler and depending on time and fear Oblivion (and then close the day out on Spinball Whizzer).
  13. It's almost disturbing how much some of the For Honor soundtrack sounds like theme park music, especially Wicker Man
  14. Today was unsuccessful due to reasons that had nothing to do with the coasters at all. Something happened while at the park and I didn't feel like sticking around to go on anything. EDIT I've spoken with my friend and my parents and we all agree Thorpe maybe isn't the best place for me, both because of the rides and the people usually there, so we're looking to sort a trip to Alton Towers soon. Considering I was likely going on Inferno before the incident I mentioned above, it should be easier at Alton.
  15. The thing is the drop on Colossus looks a lot less steep and more akin to something I'd have been on before.
  16. I was in Southend last night but only for football and we didn't have time to go to Adventure Island. I'm going to Thorpe Park on Friday with a friend, probably going to go on Colossus first. Hopefully this visit is the one.
  17. Yeah that's the bit I was talking about where I broke everything - I've found it to be not as bad recently. Granted that's with sitting forward as far as possible and also far too many rides on the thing.
  18. I would imagine 2002, as that's when Air opened, but I couldn't tell you for sure.
  19. I jinxed it. It was horrendous today. Broke my back and concussed myself on one turn, but might have been because I was smack bang in the middle of the train instead of the back
  20. yeah

    Football

Ridiculous game today, was bricking it against Rotherham because these are usually the games where wed have 900 shots and lose 1-0, but today we were immense even if Rotherham are probably the worst team in the league judging by what I saw today.
  21. Ive found Vampire alot smoother as of late - I'm no expert but the wheels look newish to me. Does anybody know for sure?
  22. Not for long. They were on on my last visit before I went to Wales, but off the other day. My best guess would be that its down to the water issues as theres still two or three places around Chessington itself where Thames Water have been doing works.
  23. Just remember to keep your eyes open, or you'll miss out...
  24. Joined, went for "Ollie Watkins FC" (I wanted "I Canos Beelieve It" but thought it was too similar to @ChiapasC. last season)
